Julianna's POV

I was trying to buy myself and Alex as much time as possible. My mother had said he was coming for me, but I didn't know how much time he needed. Desperately, I kept trying to contact Sofia, but she wasn't responding. Eating slower than I ever had in my life, I was just about to finish the tray of food Logan had brought for me. "Julia, we really need to get back to the pack. We have things that we need to take care of." I knew that meant mating and marking, which is what he wanted to do to truly break my bond with Alex.

"I was just hoping my wolf would come back to me by now. Do you know why she's gone?"

"My guess is that Alpha, who took you, injected you with wolfsbane, and that's why she's not responding. She should be back soon, but don't worry," he came closer to me and put an arm around me. "I'll be there to protect you."

"Great," I lied. Logan looked at me, and I could tell his eyes were full of pure lust for me. What came next didn't surprise me, but it caught me slightly off guard. He leaned in to place a kiss on my lips. I knew I couldn't pull away or he might suspect something, so I held still and let it happen. After a second, I pulled away wincing.

"Sorry, it's just my ribs."

"I understand, you'll heal soon, and we'll be able to be together again."

"Right." Logan got to his feet and reached his hand out to me. I guess there was no delaying it any longer. I just hoped Alex would be there like my mother said. If my wolf came back to me and he wasn't, I was going to make a run for it. Following Logan up the stairs, I saw lan and Tyler standing in the living room. Anger began bubbling up inside of me thinking about what they had done, but I couldn't let it show. I had to pretend like I didn't remember anything.

"Beta, Gamma, look who's finally ready to make the trip home."

"Hello Luna," Tyler said. lan didn't say anything but bowed his head to me.

"How far away are we from October Moon?" I asked.

"About five miles."

"And you said we're walking?"

"Yes, but like I said, I'll be right next to you if anything happens."

"Perfect." He smiled at me, and I tried to smile back as convincingly as I could. Opening the door, I followed Logan outside with lan and Tyler right behind us. This house was located somewhere in the woods. The trees were thick, blocking out a lot of the sunlight. From what I could tell, it was much later in the day than it had been when I entered the woods with Margaret. We began our long walk towards October Moon. Logan had such a tight hold on my hand, it was beginning to hurt. The longer we walked, the more anxious I became. Maybe Alex wasn't coming, maybe Margaret had done something to him.

"We're nearly there," Logan said. Now I noticed the pain in my ribs was starting to lessen.

"Sofia! Are you there?" I called.

"I'm here Julia!"

"Oh, thank the Goddess!" Relief washed over me knowing that Sofia was finally back, and we would be able to shift. The four of us came out of the woods, into a clearing I knew was almost at the border of the pack. Fear was beginning to flood my body. If I had to make a run for it, would I be able to get away again? I barely made it last time and this time, there seemed to be no one here to help me. Houses were coming into view in the distance, and my heartbeat quickened.

"Home at last, my mate," Logan cooed, kissing the back of my hand.

"ALPHA LOGAN!" A familiar voice shouted from behind me. I whipped around and almost cried at the sight of Alex, Elijah, and Hannah standing just in the tree line behind us. "Touch my mate again and it will be the last thing you ever do!" "What!? How, how do you know who she is?" The three of them were walking towards us.

"You thought you could fu*k with the bond of the Lycan King? You truly are stupider than Julia described you."

"You're too late, she doesn't remember who you are! She's my mate now!

"No Logan, I'm not!" I sneered from behind him. He turned to look at me. "What?! You know who he is?"

"Of course, I do. Your little plot to make us forget our bond backfired."

"NO!" Before I could react, Logan grabbed me and crushed me, so my back was up against his chest, so I was facing Alex. "I'll mark her before you have a chance to react."

"That is the woman I love. If you so much as lay a finger on her, I'll kill you!"

"Hold on a second, did he just say he loves us?"

"I don't think now is the time to think about that."

"Logan!" Now I must have misheard, there was no way I had just heard that voice. Then, from out of the tree line, stepped Marvin, Beth, and my mom. "It's over, just let her go." His hot breath was on my neck, and I knew he was elongating his canines about to pierce my skin.

"I don't think so," I said. Just like I had done when training with Marvin, I let go of all my body weight. Logan fell forward slightly, losing his tight grip on me. Throwing my head back, I felt it make contact with his face and he howled out in pain, loosening his grip even more. I stepped to the side and elbowed him hard in the stomach, slipping from his grip completely. I ran towards Alex as fast as I could but felt a hand close around my arm. Without thinking, Sofia took over and we shifted right there. This was the first time anyone had seen Sofia besides Alex. I looked at Logan, who had a shocked look on his face, while lan and Tyler looked petrified.

It seemed weird that they would be that scared of me, but then my shadow was overtaken by an even larger one. Looking around, I saw a ten-foot tall snarling Lycan, standing on two feet behind me. Though I had never seen him shift, I knew it had to be Alex. He put a giant paw on Sofia's shoulder, and I felt the electricity shoot through us. Looking back at Logan, the look of shock on his face was gone, replaced by seething anger. We watched as he shifted to his gray wolf, Levi. Ian and Tyler were also shifting to their tan and brown wolves. Levi let out a loud howl, and from behind him emerged a sea of wolves. He must have called them when he realized his plan had gone south.

Alex growled loudly, and I felt the ground shake slightly as, from behind us, came close to one hundred Lycans. Among them was my mom's wolf Terri, Marvin's wolf Ray, and Beth's wolf Gloria. Everyone was snarling and baring their teeth, letting the other side know they weren't backing down. Sofia looked into Alex's black eyes, bearing so much love and adoration. Then, we charged forward towards Logan, and he did the same.

Their warriors and ours met in a bloody battle for dominance. I wanted to go after Logan, but a large dark brown wolf came flying at me, barreling into me and knocking me to the ground. Sofia got up quickly and took a swipe at him with her large paw. She made contact with his shoulder and ripped large, deep cuts into his fur.

They retaliated by kicking us hard in the side, knocking the wind out of Sofia. We were looking down at the barrel of his snarling teeth, when a Lycan ran up behind them, grabbed them around the middle and crushed them with sheer force. I have no idea who it was, but I was grateful to them. The only sounds were the snarling of teeth, thumping of bodies hitting the ground, and cries of pain. There were wolves and Lycan's flying every which way. I looked into the sea of fighting, trying to locate anyone that I knew. I stopped Terri, trying to fight a large golden wolf, and she wasn't faring well. Taking off, Sofia ran at full speed, slamming into the wolf and throwing him sideways.

My mom was on the ground and had shifted back into her human form, meaning her wolf didn't have the strength to keep her shifted. Sofia stood over her body snarling at the wolf, who quickly came charging back at us. We ducked his attack, and Sofia caught his hind leg in her mouth, shaking her head violently. Not only did we feel their bones break in our mouth, but we heard the crunch as we crushed their leg. The wolf howled out and fell to the ground.

Sofia caught him by the neck, and shook her head again, rendering him limp and lifeless. We walked back to my mom and nudged her with our snout. She was still breathing, but I needed to get her out of here. Since I had cut my ties with October Moon, I wasn't able to link Marvin and ask for his help. Sofia gave me back control and we shifted. I bent down and shook my mom by the shoulders.

"Mom! Mom, wake up!" Slowly, her eyes blinked open.

"Julia," she breathed, as a smile spread across her face. "You're okay. I thought I was never going to see you again."

"I know, so did I." Our encounter didn't last long. Suddenly, I felt something long and cold pressed into the side of my neck, and a shrill voice whispered in my ear.

"Get up hybrid."
