Chapter 56

Kate POV

Cassie and I leave the old lady Wolf's house heading back to the house. I hold the box of pictures on my lap. "Are you going to open them, now? I mean, aren't you this least bit curious?" Cassie asks me.

"I am curious," I say, opening the box.

As we drive past the Omega house, Erick's mother comes running toward the truck. "Stop, Kate, Stop!" she yells.

"Do you want me to stop?" Cassie asks.

"Maybe we should. It has to be serious if she is flagging me down," I answer her.

Cassie stops the truck. "What do you want?" I ask her.

"Did she tell you about your family?' Erick's mother asks me.

"Is that why you flagged me down?" I ask her.

"That, and I wanted to see if it is true? I wanted to know if the Luna is pregnant. You better run and hide Luna Kate; the imperial is coming for you," she cackles and runs back into the house. Cassie steps on the gas. "I think she has gone mad," Cassie says.

"Let's not tell Erick about this, okay," I say to Cassie.

"I totally agree with you on that," Cassie says.

I open the box and start going through the pictures. There are pictures of Alexander and my mother. There are pictures of Lester and many photos of them altogether. I finally come to an image of Macon and me as small children with my mother holding a baby with Alexander.

"This must be my baby brother. I wonder where he is now?" I say, showing the photo to Cassie.

"Cute baby," Cassie says.

I keep going through the photos. There is a photo of Lester and Shawn. "There are pictures of Lester and Shawn in her. Cassie, how old is Shawn?" I ask her. "He is 18, I think; why?" Cassie asks.

"Do you think he is my brother?" I ask her.

I go through the box there are pictures of Shawn all in the box. "Oh my damn, we cannot let Erick leave with Shawn! We have to get to Erick!" I scream at Cassie. "They have not left yet. Erick was waiting on Shawn to get there," Cassie says.

"Hurry, Cassie, please hurry," I cry and scream. Cassie drives as fast as the old truck will go trying to get back to the house.

"Calm down; you are going to upset that little wolf inside you," Cassie says.

"I am trying to calm down. I do not want anything to happen to Erick because of me. Please hurry," I say to her.

We pull into the house finally. I jump out of the truck and run inside. I run straight to Erick's office. Cassie is behind me, carrying the box of images.

"Erick, we have to go. We have to leave here, now!" I scream.

Erick runs toward me and grabs me by the arms. "What is wrong? Are you okay?" he asks me.

"No, I am not okay, and we are not safe. The baby is not safe. We have to......" I stop and see Shawn out of the corner of my eye.

"What is it, Kate?" Shawn asks me.

Cassie comes in with the box and sets it on Erick's desk. Shawn's eyes get big as he watches me open the box. "There are some interesting photos in here," I say as I hand the ones of Shawn and Lester, then the photos of Alexander, my mother, and three children. "Kate, what is this?" Erick asks me.

"Photos of my family," I say meekly.

"There are pictures of Shawn and Lester in here," Erick says.

"This is why Shawn did not kill Macon. Shawn is our baby brother," I say to him.

Erick looks over my shoulder at Shawn. "Anything else you want to tell us, Shawn," Erick asks him.

Desire comes through the door and slams the office door. "Yeah, Shawn, any more secrets?" Desire asks.

"This is crazy, and I am not her brother. I am Lester's son," Shawn says.

"He is lying. I saw him talking and communicating with Rainwater on the imperial spiritual plane. He brought her out through me, trying to help her. He wants to free her from the plane and Lester. They want my baby to destroy the vampires and release all the wolves trapped in limbo," I scream at him.

"Sounds to me like that old hag filled your head with nonsense," Shawn says.

"Well, let's find out. Desire bite him for me," I say.

"What?" Erick asks me.

"Finally, some action around here. I thought this place with all drama and no action," Desire says.

"Wait, I cannot let a vampire bite one of my wolves," Erick says.

"Let her do it, trust me, Erick, please," I plead with him.

Erick motions for Desire to go ahead and bite Shawn. "She is not biting me," Shawn says.

"The hell I'm not. I am going to enjoy this, Cassie hold him," Desire says.

Cassie and Erick both hold Shawn down so Desire can bite into Shawn. "Do not feed, just bite him," I say.

Desire bites him until blood is running down his neck. I walk over to Shawn. He is fighting as Erick and Cassie hold him down. I latch on to his neck and begin to suck his blood. As I suck on him, I suddenly feel them break through the skin, and my fangs release. I let them pierce his neck. Shawn screams as I feed for the first time on him.

I release him and wipe the blood from my face. Shawn laughs in my face. It infuriates me. I push Erick and Cassie out of the way and attack Shawn. I pull him to the floor and straddle him. I pin him down as I feed on him, tearing at his neck and ripping his throat out of his neck. When he stops moving, I get off of him. I go to Erick's desk and grab a stake from the drawer. I go back to Shawn and stake him in the heart with one mighty blow to the chest. "Die Bitch!" I scream at him. "Bravo! I never thought watching a vampire die would be so, I don't know, rewarding," Desire says to me.

"Does anybody want to fill the Alpha in on what the hell is going on here," Erick says.

"Yeah, Shawn is a traitor and a liar and also my baby brother," I say. I walk out of the office and go upstairs to change clothes. Erick follows me up the stairs.

"Kate, why did you kill him?" Erick asks.

"Did you want to explain to everyone why we let a vampire go that was manipulating your Luna?" I ask him.

"What happened at Isabella's?" Erick asks.

"A lot, she told me how to take my hybrid form, she told me to stop communicating with the wolves, and most importantly, she told me who has been ruining my life since I come home, my brother, Shawn," I say. "We still have to deal with Alexander," Erick says to me.

"I know we do, but at least I feel safer now. I feel like the baby is safer with Shawn dead. Now to kill Macon," I say to him.

"Any more secrets?" Erick asks.

"I saw your mother," I say.

"Did you talk to her?" Erick asks.

"Yes, she wanted to see if I was pregnant," I answer him.

"Nothing crazy happened?" Erick asks.

"Well, yeah, would it be normal if something crazy did not happen," I say.

"What did she say to you?" Erick asks.

"Something about an imperial wolf, you will have to ask Cassie," I answer him.

"Trust me; I will," Erick says.

"Help Desire bring my father back. Alexander and I have much to discuss," I say to him.

Erick kisses me and leaves the room to go to find my father.
