The Last Time I Loved Him (Autumn and Ryan) -
Chapter 36
Chapter 3
Ophelia and Stephen were classmates, recognized by everyone as the perfect match. So, when my roommate found out I had a crush on Stephen, she only said, "Rosalie, guys like him don't go for ordinary girls like us."
Compared to Ophelia, I was more than just ordinary. No stunning looks, no remarkable talent. We were like people from two different worlds. But once feelings take root, they only grow wildly.
I knew Stephen confessed to me because Ophelia announced her relationship, and I understood his proposal was because Ophelia got married. That day, he was completely drunk, stumbling toward me, "Rosalie, let's get married." I still agreed, clinging like a thief to something that shouldn't have been mine.
"Rosalie, what are you daydreaming about? Come eat, I made so much food; you have to try it!" I suddenly looked at Stephen. He was as gentle as ever. Maybe, I tried to convince myself, maybe there really was nothing between him and Ophelia, and it was just a coincidence that they were photographed together. I smiled and responded,, "Sure!"
"I spent a long time learning these recipes; you have to try them!"
He served me a bowl of rice and piled it high with various dishes.
But looking at the food, my heart only felt a bitter ache. Not a single dish was something I liked, and he'd even forgotten my allergy to seafood.
Just as I was about to pretend everything was fine and start eating, Stephen's phone buzzed. He glanced at it, then immediately put down his chopsticks. "Rosalie, something urgent came up at work. I have to go. Take your time eating." Without a second thought, he grabbed his keys and left.
But I clearly saw the message:
"Stephen, my stomach hurts so much!"
