The Luna’s Pure Heart – Chapter 35

(Eleanor pov)

The first course was being served, it was a potato croquette with caviar on top. I was in complete heaven…to actually eat this kind of food and not just serve it. I was blown away..the wine they paired with it was something else too. A dry white wine to complement the savory dish.

I couldn’t help but m**n when I took the first bite of food, causing Damion to look at me sideways and grip his wine glass. I smiled at him sheepishly and leaned into him, feeling so much more at ease with how relaxed he has gotten throughout the evening. I felt his walls lowering and it was the best feeling in the world..to know he was trying his hardest. That’s all I really wanted, just for him to try.

“This is really good.” I whispered into his ear, causing him to turn towards me and glance down at my lips. A darkness filled his gaze as I swallowed hard. This is how it has been all evening. I say something, he gives me this look and then he says something and I practically melt into a puddle.

I remember Lucy once said Zack and I had s****l tension..I didn’t quite understand what she meant..but now I knew..this was s****l tension, and it was practically suffocating.

Damion nodded his head slowly, his eyes still on my lips as I turned, feeling completely bare before him. How could his eyes see right through me? Like he was peering into my soul, as if I was showing him every imperfection and insecurity inside of me. Well, that’s how I felt anyway. Maybe I just had something on my mouth and was completely unaware. With that new fear unlocked, I quickly lifted my napkin and wiped my mouth.

Suddenly, I felt Damion’s hand on my leg once more, causing me to jump from the jolt of electricity that sparked through me. He gripped my thigh with his palm, holding me tightly as my mind turned to mush.

“Are you enjoying the party?” Jake asked abruptly, startling me as I felt like I was committing some type of crime with Damion’s hand so high up on my thigh as it slid up an inch further.

I nodded my head like an i***t, gripping my fork as the next dish was set in front of me. It was a summer salad with squash and beets added to it.

“The food is really good.” I managed to choke out. Wow was I weak..this one touch from Damion and I was practically panting like a dog.

Jake chuckled softly, looking down at his food as I felt like this was the first time I was truly seeing him. He didn’t speak much but he seemed like a really genuine guy. If Damion trusted him to be his Gamma, then he must be a good person.

Suddenly Damion’s hand began to slide between my thighs, causing my breath to hitch as I looked towards him nervously. The corner of his mouth twitched as his eyes met mine, pure fire filled his piercing gaze as I swallowed hard. The warmth of his touch traveling up and causing my center to pool with desire.

Suddenly he leaned into me, his mouth pressing against my ear as he spoke with a husky tone.

“If you start doing that, I might think you want me to go higher.” He whispered, his warm breath causing a shiver of pleasure to tremble through me.

Our eyes were locked onto one another, that connection stronger than I have ever felt as pure electricity shot through me. This…what I was feeling..it was much more than I ever expected, it was almost as if right at this moment I knew my purpose in life, like I knew why I was here and why I went through so many hardships..it was all to bring me to this man, to bring me to this moment so I could meet him one day.

All too soon, his eyes clouded over and he removed his hand, clearing his throat and glancing away from me. How was he so good at turning it off that quickly? I felt like I couldn’t even walk even if I wanted to. Like my legs were now jello and I needed a good hour just to recover from one touch. Damn, I felt pathetic..

‘Yes, yes you are.’

Kari said with a sigh, making me mentally frown at her. So much for a team effort..I am practically on my own on this one..I guess it’s better to have one rational thinker because I know it’s not me.

Interrupting my thoughts, Damion stood quickly, facing the crowd of people as he cleared his throat.

“Thank you all for coming today, I have gathered you all here for a very special announcement. I would like to formally introduce my mate, and intended Queen, Eleanor Winters.” Damion spoke firmly, his eyes staring into the crowd as the urge to shrink into my chair filled me..I hadn’t realized he would be doing this..right after the way he looked at me.

I mentally kicked myself, trying to get control of my body as he extended his hand out for me to take. His large palm engulfed my hand as I placed it gently against his warm skin.

Squeezing softly, he pulled me into a standing position, letting go of my hand and now placing it on my lower back, causing my body to warm instantly.

I stood next to my mate proudly, feeling compelled to say something as everyone looked toward me expectantly.

Before I could talk myself out of it, I opened my mouth to speak and was suddenly interrupted by Damion. Causing me to turn my head toward him in confusion.

“Alpha Richard’s, can you please stand.” He boomed, hearing my previous Alpha’s name causing my stomach to drop. Why was Damion calling Alpha Richard up?

Looking across the hall, I saw Alpha Richard stand, his Luna Margot watched with the oddest expression on her face..she looked almost excited. Malcolm on the other hand just stared straight at me, I could feel his gaze on me this entire time, I was just trying to avoid it..it’s hard to now though when I have to practically face him.

“Alpha Richard’s, is it true that you have been selling off your unmated omega women to pay a debt to an allied pack? That you tried to even sell my mate, the future queen to a trafficking ring that is forbidden in this realm.” Damion yelled out, his anger rising with each word. I gasped, looking towards him as his hand pressed into my back firmer. I had no idea he would be doing this, especially in front of all of these people.

The entire hall turned silent, the only sound was gasps just like my own from the other pack members.

“I..no, who told you that? This omega who has wormed her way into the queen’s chair?” Alpha Richard spat, causing me to blink my eyes in shock. Was he seriously suggesting that I tricked King Damion to be here? What a coward..he can’t even admit what he has done and face his crimes with an ounce of dignity.

I was getting angry now, very angry.

“How dare you speak about your future queen like that.” Damion growled, his voice booming through the hall and making all those around us cower from his sheer dominance and power.

Wow was he something, the fact that I didn’t even flinch from the way he spoke surprised me.

“Tell the truth NOW and I might just spare your Luna and child.” Damion snarled, looking at Alpha Richard with pure hatred. Not even a second later, Alpha Richard broke down.

“Y..yes My King..we..we had no money left, it was the only way, the girls, they said they were being treated fairly.” He sputtered out, lying through his teeth. I had heard enough now, I have sat back for far too long without saying anything.

I stepped forward, shocking Damion as he looked down at me with confusion.

“Do you not have any remorse for the things you have done? For the way you have treated people like mere livestock, like items that can be bartered and misused until they break? You have caused so much pain and damage to so many people and yet you sit here, trying to make excuses for your own cruel actions. It is a pure insult to the Alpha King that you think he would believe the lies that fall from your mouth.” I said firmly, my eyes burning into Alpha Richard as he cowered and trembled with fear.

“If you were a true Alpha, a man with conviction, you would show your people how to be a ruler. Not by using fear and discipline, but by showing compassion and understanding. That is where you have failed, not only your pack but yourself. I feel sorry for you, because sadly you will never know what it’s like to be an Alpha of a pack that respects you by your actions, not by the fear you instilled into them.” I said passionately, meaning every single word. The room was now thick with silence, as the situation came back to me.

Did I just overstep? I fought the urge to shrink away and stood my ground..the relief of finally telling Alpha Richard what I feel about him, what we all felt about him finally hit me. It was about damn time someone put him in his place..and I am glad it was me.

I sheepishly glanced up at Damion, seeing pure rage on his face. Rage, and something else..was he smiling at me? Like truly smiling..wow was he even more handsome..this smile was unlike anything I had seen from him.

“What my Queen says is much more meaningful and touching than anything I could ever say. To be honest, I believe she is too kind. That is why Alpha Richard, I am making an example of you. Take him to the dungeon, where he will await his execution.” Damion commanded, causing the king’s warriors to rush over and take Alpha Richard’s in their custody. My eyes widened as Damion pulled me closer to his side, standing even taller than before. King Richard was gragged out, kicking and screaming as everyone stiffened in their chairs.

“Let it be known, we do not tolerate the selling or trafficking of any kind in my Kingdom. We will be doing an investigation and all those involved will be properly punished.” He announced, causing everyone to murmur amongst themselves.

“Now, let us continue with the main course, the entertainment will be starting shortly.” He added, sitting back down as he pulled me down with him. My nerves were shot and I honestly felt like I could faint. I had never been that confrontational in my life..but man did it feel good.
