The Luna’s Pure Heart – Chapter 83

(Eleanor pov)

A blazing fire of determination filled me, my thumb pressing flat against the small screen that was attached to the wall. The two seconds it took to go through felt like years, waiting for that light to flash green and to hear the click of the door. Holding my breath, my heart began to race as my hands began to tremble..please work, please work.

Then I heard it, a soft beep and the click of the door..my eyes widened with surprise. It worked, Damion must have given me access to everywhere in the castle then. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

‘Okay Kari, are you ready?’

I asked quickly knowing we don’t have much time. There could be dozens of rogues or warrior’s behind this door.

I yanked the door open, shifting quickly and Kari lept through, her paws landing gracefully on the tile floor as two men stood across the hallway. Their eyes were wide and full of shock as they took in Kari’s sudden presence and then glanced at each other.

“That’s the Queen..” One man muttered, their claws extracting as Kari could sense their ill intent from here. She quickly lunged forward, her teeth bared as the two men began to shift.

They didn’t even have time, Kari slammed into them, biting down on one’s throat as she snapped his neck in a matter of seconds. The other man began to crawl backward, fear filling his eyes as he shook his head no, unable to utter a single word.

Kari stalked forward, growling deeply..sending a trembling fear shuddering through the man as he whimpered and coward before her.

She slashed her claws, cutting the man down as he fell back gasping for air. There was no mercy for these men..their lives were over the moment they took our mate..the moment they chose a side..the wrong side.

The air grew silent, the gasping ceased and the smell of fresh b***d filled our nostrils..

‘Let’s go before more come.’

I whispered, pulling Kari out of her trance, her breathing ragged and anger coursing through her veins. I had never seen her like this..I have never felt like this..I wanted this to be over. I wanted to find Damion so we could finish this together.

Kari sprinted down the hallways, fallen bodies of our warriors were sprawled out across the floor. This was tragic..all of these people..all of OUR people murdered senselessly.

The sight was almost too much for me to bare as it pushed Kari even further..making her more determined than ever as we came to our first hurdle. Another door..luckily no one was guarding this one. I remember Damion telling me how this was a security checkpoint..this is where he had to be, his scent ends right at this door.

We shifted back, my body naked and covered in b***d as I wiped my hand against my thighs, trying to clean off my thumb so it could read properly.

I quickly pressed it down, hearing the door unlock and that wasn’t the only thing..the sound of talking put me on alert as I slowly began to open the door. Suddenly someone on the other side shoved it further, pushing me back and making me lose my balance.

‘There’s no time to shift! You have to do this Elle!’

Kari shouted, the man that shoved the door open looked at me with wide eyes that began to wander down my body. My skin began to crawl as his eyes flashed with desire, giving me even more incentive to do what I was about to do. I lifted my hand, sharp claws protruding out of my fingers as a snarl left me. My canines bared and ready as the man looked at me with a smirk.

“My Queen, now I see why the Elder is so fascinated with you..he will be excited to see what..” I didn’t even let him finish, I rushed forward, swiping my hand across his neck and back down his chest as he cried out.

All the humor in his expression was now lost as he dropped to the floor, gripping his throat and kicking his feet in agony.

I quickly lept over him, letting Kari shift once more as we continued down the hallway. Turning the corner, I suddenly heard another voice..one I recognized..one that made my b***d boil.

“We will keep him locked up until we have secured the girl. Then, there will be a new king slayer.” Elder Paul laughed maniacally. His voice bounced off the walls as Kari was ready to end this.

‘Wait, how many people are there Kari?’

My words stopped her in her tracks, making her sniff the air, smelling eight different scents.

‘That’s too many at once..maybe we should wait.’

Right as she was about to protest, the sound of footsteps approaching made Kari quickly back into the corner. She sat down, hiding in the shadows as we watched Elder Paul and four other men following right behind him.

‘Why haven’t they caught our scent yet?’

How the hell did they just walk right past us and not notice us? Then I felt that tingling sensation, the same I felt in my tummy earlier.

‘I hid our scent..but they will notice the guards we took out, so we need to go quick.’

Kari spoke urgently, her paws silently pushing forward as she crept out towards the hallway. Her eyes darted from side to side as we knew there had to be at least three warriors guarding Damion’s cell.

She turned the corner where two men were standing on either side of the cell with a third across the way. Kari didn’t even hesitate..acting on pure instinct as she silently ran toward them.

They didn’t know what hit them, Kari stealthily pounced on the first guard, snapping his neck instantly as the other two guards couldn’t even comprehend what just happened. Kari turned, her snarl ferocious, her teeth bared and ready to bite.

She went for one of the men’s thighs, taking a chunk out of his leg and making him scream in agony. She quickly put a stop to that, biting his neck while knocking the other man down as he lunged for us, her reactions too fast for him to comprehend as she swiped at his chest, knocking him to the floor.

She licked her lips, cleaning off the b***d as she backed away, allowing me to shift now.

I ran to the door, realizing this one was much different than the last two..I needed two keys and a code. That’s not good..how was I going to get this code? Just then, one of the guards began to g***n, drawing my attention to him where I quickly noticed a key hanging from his neck.

“What is the code?” I barked, pressing my bare foot against his neck and pushing down roughly.

“You can’t defeat him..in his mind he is King and you are already his..” he choked out, his eyes widening as I pressed my foot even harder.

“I am no one’s but King Damion’s..the code now!” I yelled, making him flinch as I saw him submitting by turning his head and baring his neck.

‘Elle, command him..make him tell you.’

Kari whispered, realizing that this man is affected by my strong aura.

“Tell me the code..now.” I spoke the words with power and authority. Making him close his eyes and whimper.

“2…5…1..6” He choked out like he was trying to fight against my command with every fiber of his being and it didn’t work..not against the Queen’s orders.

I lifted my foot, then swiftly kicked him hard right on his head..knocking him out. I won’t lie, I think I broke a toe on that one, but I didn’t care, I needed to get to Damion now.

I yanked the key from around his neck, and quickly found the other one across the hall.

My hands were now dripping with b***d as I rushed to the door and inserted the keys, turning them at the same time and then hastily punching in the code. Trying not to mess up with how badly my hands were now trembling from everything that happened.

The sound of the door unlocking made my stomach knot as I didn’t know what to expect…please let him be okay. I know our bond didn’t break, so he is still alive..but the fact he didn’t respond to me was really concerning.

I impatiently flung the door open, my eyes widening with shock as I saw two bodies unmoving on the floor. Then I saw him..my mate, the love of my life..the man that has all of me..my heart shattered into a million pieces.

“Damion.” I cried out, racing towards my mate who was hanging from the ceiling, his body beaten and bloodied. His arms and legs were shackled in silver. I couldn’t help but cling to his waist, tears streaming down my face as I cried for my mate.

“El..Eleanor? No..this can’t be real..you can’t be here..you are in our room safe..” he mumbled, his head shaking from side to side.

“I’m going to get you out of this baby.” I sobbed, my hands pulling at the chains, causing my flesh to burn from the contact.

“Eleanor go..get out of here please..he can’t find you.” He whispered hastily. Panic filling his blue eyes.

“What did they do to you..how could they do this.” I placed my palm against Damion’s cheek, feeling him lean into me as a single tear slid down his bruised skin.

Suddenly I heard a faint g***n, my eyes snapping behind me to one of the bodies on the floor.

I quickly ran over to who I now recognized as Jake..a large gash was visible across his neck and it seemed like he had lost a lot of b***d.

“Jake, it’s okay, I’m here..” My words stumbled out. I placed my palms over his neck, closing my eyes as I knew we didn’t have much time. I felt that warmth, that pure light building inside of me and I tried to think of only good thoughts. Thoughts of Jake..about his rare smile, the way he laughs, and when he looked at Lance and shakes his head in disapproval..I thought of happiness and healing..so many healing thoughts and then I felt that light pouring out of me and soaking into Jake.

He gasped for air, his eyes fluttering as he tried to regain his strength.

“Jake..the key, we need the key to free Damion.” I informed him urgently, feeling like there was no time to spare.

“El..Elder P..Paul t..took it.” He was barely able to speak, his voice still hoarse as he tried to sit up but fell flat on his back once more. I tried to make Jake more comfortable, his hand squeezing mine as gratitude filled his eyes. He went to speak and I shook my head, smiling softly, knowing he needed to take this time to regain his strength.

“No…there has to be another way..” I declared while standing up once more, going back over to Damion as I yanked on the chains, trying to summon that strength but failing miserably.

“Bunny..it’s okay..take Jake and go..please, you need to keep our pup safe. I need you to be safe.” He begged me, his energy deteriorating by the second.

“I’m not leaving you.” I cried, pulling at the chains once more until I felt b***d dripping down my arms.

“Eleanor! Enough!” Damion yelled, his voice full of anguish, making me collapse to my knees..no it can’t end like this..there has to be something I can do.. there has to be a way.

‘Eleanor, you need to concentrate..you have to think of exactly what you want..then try again.’

Kari spoke firmly, making me close my eyes as I thought about what I wanted. I want to break these chains. I want to free Damion from this hell he has had to live in for so many years..I want to kill Elder Paul.

Suddenly my eyes snapped open and a gust of wind blew through the room as I stood up. I felt my body humming with power, my skin glowing as a white light illuminated off of me.

‘You don’t have much time..do it, child, now.’

An ethereal voice echoed through my mind as I walked forward, gripping the cuff on Damion’s hand. This time they didn’t burn, instead they felt cool to the touch as I pulled with all of my strength, freeing Damion’s left hand. I made quick work on the right and then freed his ankles. Damion slumped to the ground, his body so weak and beaten he could hardly move. I crawled over to him, the once bright glow of my skin now soft and dulling.

I reached my hands out, my palms resting gently against Damion’s face, the words I spoke next coming from deep within me.

“Titus, wake up.” I whispered, placing a soft k**s on my mate’s lips. Feeling the last of whatever energy I had seeping into Damion’s skin.

Then I felt him, Titus’s power blasting through the room as Damion’s eyes snapped open, revealing a glowing gold.

“It’s time to show Elder Paul what a real beast is like.” He growled, his body healing in an instant as my mate stood, pulling me into him as he kissed me with such deep passion that it left me absolutely breathless.

“Stay behind me my Darling little Mate.” Titus growled possessively, taking his shirt off and handing it to me as I quickly pulled it on and let him button it up for me.

His hand wrapped around me as he nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck, inhaling deeply as he rubbed it up and down slowly. Taking in all of me before pulling away and glancing toward Jake.

“Let’s go Gamma, protect my mate with your life.” He then turned his head towards the door, rolling his shoulders as he stood up at full height. His whole body flexing as he stared straight ahead..a determination and power pulsing off of him, unlike anything I had ever seen..Titus was back..and ready for vengeance.
