Genevieve’s POV

It’s been about a week since my heat ended and Dakota and Sarah both want to have a slumber party since we never got to after the elders left.

“Okay so snacks? I want all kinds of sweets! And we need wine!” Dakota beams. I think to myself for a second, knowing I’ve still pushed off taking a pregnancy test even though Hunter has hounded me over it for a couple days. He said we should know by now.

“Just take the test!” Ophelia says.

“I will. Just not yet.”

“Yes we should. Movies? Makeup? Dancing and singing like idiots?” Sarah asks.

“Those sound fun. What movies?” I ask.

“I was thinking some horror movie?” Sarah offers. Dakota and I both look at each other.

“How about a funny one and a scary one. Scary one first so that I don’t have to go to sleep thinking about the monsters.” Dakota says.

“Girl what? You’re literally a Lycan. What do you have to be scared of?”

“Jigsaw. Or Freddy Krueger. Dudes are scary. and the scariest ones are the ones that walk when they chase you. That’s when you know you’re done for.” Dakota says.

She grabs the box she’s been putting all her makeup in and walks towards the hallway. We’re all going to stay in the main hall tonight since the tv is huge. We all go gather what we need before heading to the main hall and setting up our sleeping areas.

A few hours later and we’re all snuggled up on the sofa watching the bye bye man. Dakota is literally shaking in her pants in between Sarah and I, jumping at everything and closing her eyes.

We put clay face masks in each other and even though I can hardly move my face, watching Dakota squeal at a movie has me dying of laughter. When the movie is over Dakota turns the light on with a remote and faces us.

“That wasn’t that bad.” She said.

“What do you mean? Are you sure you didn’t soul yourself? You jumped and screamed the whole time!” Sarah pointed out.

I looked at Sarah and we both started busting out laughing.

“Now that we’ve done makeup, done face masks and the scary movie, what should we do?” Sarah asks as she pours more wine for everyone. They’re on the 4th bottle. I have been lucky to not been caught dumping the wine into the plant next to us, thank goddess. I don’t want anyone knowing anything yet.

Dakota opens a closet and pulls out a little tablet and a microphone.

“Karaoke!” She says. She hooks the cords up to the tv and gets it ready. She picks a song and starts singing like a maniac.

“•••••Another one bites the dust! •••••Another one bites the dust. And another one gone and another one gone. Another one bites the dust. Hey! We’re gonna get you too. Another one bites the dust!” She screams. Her voice cuts in and out as she tries to hit higher notes.

She finishes singing and Sarah jumps up clapping and Dakota hands her the mic.

“Just scroll like this and whatever you want just click. We have just about any song you could imagine.” Dakota said. Sarah thought for a second and shot up.

“I’ve heard Mark listening to this one often. It’s catchy.” She says. I see her type in the song and it starts to play.

“In my eyes

And I’ll hear you s****m again” she sings. I kinda like the feeling of this song.

“Black hole sun

Wash away the rain” she continues. She has a very lovely voice. As she finishes the song Mark comes busting in the room.

“Awh you sang it without me?” He asks.

“I did. Sorry.” She says. Hunter, William and Mathew all join the room as well. They all went and had drinks.

“What’s going on here ladies? Karaoke?” Mathew asked.

“Yes, and you’re all right on time, it’s Genevieve’s turn.” Sarah said as she handed me the microphone. My face burns as I feel myself blush from being put on the spot. Hunter smiles and he comes and stands behind me, pulling me against his chest.

He k****s my cheek and takes the controller from me and scrolls through.

“Do you know any?” He asks.

“I know a few here and there. Mainly ones I’ve heard other people listening to, or you. And I know them word for word. I’ve always been pretty good at remembering things like that.” I say honestly.

“So any song I’ve listened to around you, you know word for word?” He asks.

“Yes. Why?” I ask.

“I challenge you. Turn around, no looking at the screen. You just have to listen. Let’s see if you can do it.

“Ooh a challenge. Let’s do it Gen, please? It’ll be fun. Plus everyone besides us is drunk so I’m sure they won’t even remember this.” Ophelia says.

“Okay fine.” I say. I roll my eyes and smile.

I look at everyone who is standing there waiting for me to accept. Everyone besides Mathew of course has gravitated to their mates, all sitting on the chairs and the couch. I’m standing in front of the tv.

Mathew grabs a bottle of something from one of the tables on the far side of the room and holds it out to everyone.

“I’ll take some, it’s karaoke. Gotta be drunk for karaoke.” Mark said. Everyone besides myself agreed and Mathew started pouring cups. They all settled with their drinks, Hunter finishing his before c*cking an eyebrow at me.

“Well? Are you going to accept?” Hunter asked.

“Accept. Accept. Accept.” William started. Everyone else followed along and I couldn’t take much more and laughed.

“Fine! Challenge accepted.” I say. Hunter grabs me shoulders and turns me around facing everyone and steps towards the tv, picking a song. I hear the song begin and I close my eyes. My heart thumps in my chest so hard I feel like it could explode.

When it starts playing I realize it’s from one of his favorite movies. He made me watch it the day my heat ended. He’s definitely drunk cause I have no idea what he’s thinking picking this song. I hear giggles around me and I start singing.

“What’s this? What’s this?

There’s color everywhere

There’s white things in the air

What’s this?” The nightmare before Christmas. The scary Lycan kings favorite movie is the nightmare before Christmas. Who would’ve thought.

“There’s children throwing snowballs

They’re busy building toys

And absolutely no one’s dead”

I contain my laughter and continue singing the song. Everyones laughing and Mathew is literally snorting. When I finish the song I get a round of applause and I bow.

“Thank you, thank you.” I say as I walk to the couch and hand off the microphone to Mathew.

“Oh sing I kissed a girl!” Dakota screams at Mathew. I laugh and Hunter grabs me and pulls me on his lap.

“I told you I knew everything you’ve played word for word.” I gloated. He pushed a fallen strand of hair behind my ear and opened a mind link with me.

“Well remember this word for word. You’re taking a test tomorrow or I will hold you in that bathroom until you do.”
