The Lycan Series
Bullied By The Lycan King Chapter 56

Violet's

POV

My eyes moved between all three of them as I tried to see a crack in their demeanour. Yet, I found none. They truly meant it.

After everything they have been through they were still hellbent on killing Axel. I could not believe them.

My hands trembled as rage built within the pits of my stomach.

I turned to my father who was clutching the bars of their cell expectantly waiting for my response.

"I can't believe you, Dad..." I whispered, shaking my head. "You have been locked up for so long and you still haven't learned your lesson?"

"Do not speak like a child Violet. You are a woman now. Think about the opportunity this will bring to you and us... All you have to do is poison the little brat and the widow will take it from there," he said with his eyes sparkling with excitement.

As I saw the emotions in his eyes, I felt disgusted at myself for having him as a parent.

"How can you not understand that this crazy woman is trying to trap you?" I spat out, unable to control myself.

The widow bobbed her head as if my words had been stones that were thrown at her.

"Violet, you are the one not getting this!" My father retorted and from the rise in his tone, I knew he was just as pissed as I was.

But I didn't care. In fact, maybe it was better that he got mad. Maybe he would be able to see the widow for who she truly was and if at all he continued to be blind, I was going to make sure he stayed alive.

"Okay, Dad, tell me... What am I supposed to get here?" I said, nodding my head as I moved closer to him. "You want me to listen to the words of a crazy werewolf -a specie you have never liked but today, she has become worthy- you want me to listen to her?" I yelled as I pointed a finger at her.

"Violet, you are reading too many meanings into this. It is just a simple task and in the end, we will all be together," my mother's voice sliced through the boiling lava of anger within me and I became filled with disappointment.

Anger bubbled through me and I focused my attention on my mother. My Dad was always quick to fall into the wrong plans with the wrong people. But she, I expected more from her.

"Forgive me Mom, but have you lost your mind too?" I asked, my voice echoing within the walls of the dungeon. "How can you agree to this idea?"

"Keep your voice down, child. Listen to your parents and do not ruin our hard work!" The widow hissed and my head snapped in her direction.

"You have no right to raise your voice at me or ask me to keep my voice low!" I bellowed at her.

"I have no deal with you and you have nothing on me! You think this is hard work?" I questioned in disbelief. "This is suicide and you must be more than crazy if you think I will ever be a pawn in your games!"

I clicked my tongue completely disgusted at my parents for listening to the Widow. I had told them to give me a little more time so that I could find a legal way to get their freedom but no, they decided to work with the Widow instead!

"If you refuse to do it, Savannah will happily take up the job and you will go down with him!" The Widow retorted.

Rather than feeling angered by her threats, it felt funny. I threw my head back and let out a soft chuckle.

"Was that supposed to scare me?" I asked, cocking my head to the side. "Do I look like I give a damn if you get someone else to do your dirty job?"

"Violet, listen to her!" My father growled.

My head turned to him and my eyes narrowed at once.

"Why?" I yelled through gritted teeth. "Why should I listen to someone I know nothing about?" My hands spread in her direction and I shook my head.

"She is a crazy woman that writes names on her wall. She is driven by a silly need to kill Axel -a drive that once lived in your heart Dad and look at where it got you!"

My eyes started burning and it felt like tears would drop down my cheeks but I sniffled it back and continued speaking...

"You tortured Axel for no reason. You hurt him day and night... What more do you want from him?" I asked, my voice cracking a little at the end.

"Why do you care about what they want from him?" The widow asked and the weight of her words felt heavy on my chest.

I realised there was no point arguing with my parents or the widow. I couldn't even speak to them about the situation in the pack to know if they were involved.

Without giving the Widow a reply, I took a deep breath and started heading to the door.

"I hope you both know what you are getting into," I said to my parents as I walked out of the dungeon.

Not wanting the Widow to come to me, I started walking as briskly as possible toward the upper chambers.

Luckily for me, Axel wasn't back yet. I moved to the bed and quickly slipped under the large blankets. I was about to close my eyes and pretend to sleep as I thought through my parents' situation when the echoes of two hands joining in a clap filled the air. I sat up instantly and glared at the curtains around me.

"Who is there?" I called as I held the blankets tightly as if my life depended on it.

Then from behind the bathroom door, Emily made an entrance, shocking the living daylight out of me.

"Where the fuck are you coming from, Violet?" She asked as she moved closer to me with a tight frown on her face.

I released my hold on the blankets as I tried to think of the best excuse to give to her.

I parted my lips to speak but she beat me to it.

"Don't even think of lying to me, Violet. I know where you have been, I just need your fucking side of the story and I'll decide what I would do afterward," she said, her voice strangely sounding calm.

My eyes flashed up at her and I felt a large lump settle in my throat at the emotion twirling in them.

She looked disappointed.

I shouldn't have cared but somehow, it affected me. I felt a shift in my heart and I suddenly felt ashamed of myself. I felt ashamed of breaking so many rules to help my parents. Yet, they didn't see any of my efforts as they should. My eyes dropped to my fingers and let out a sigh.

"I am sorry Emily... I disobeyed you and went to see my parents in the dungeon," I let out.

I expected her to lash out at me but surprisingly, she stayed quiet. Too quiet.

A pin was dropped and the sound would echo in the silence between us.

As if she had been counting the seconds with me, she stepped away from the shadows at exactly seventy-two seconds.

She came to sit on the bed, leaving a good distance between us.

"I heard more Violet and I am expecting to hear all of it from you," she said, with her eyes fixed on me.

It felt strange that she had just spoken a sentence without cursing and for some reason, it made me very uneasy.

What exactly did she hear?

As if she had heard my inner question, she said; "The guard told me that a certain veiled woman gave him money to let you in. And he recorded the conversation you had with your parents and sent it to me..."

A thunderbolt went loose in my head and I raised my eyes to meet her serious ones.

I wanted to doubt her. I wanted to think she was only bluffing but the tone of her voice and the look in her eyes said it all.

"Emily," I started as I shifted closer to her. "I am not working with the Widow and all I want is for my parents to be spared, please," I said, dropping all of my ego and pride.

Emily let out a soft sigh and turned to stare straight ahead of us; "I know Violet. I know that you refused to kill Axel... I also know that you care about him... And it is for these reasons, I haven't gutted out your internal organs yet," she added with a grin on her face. I could only nod as I didn't know what to reply to her with.

"Now, to the question I fucking need a pressing answer to; who is the Widow?"
