The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 40

Avalyn's POV

Lydia had made sure to take care of me, and once I was done with all of her medical protocols yesterday, she had allowed me to return to my room -but under the condition that I stayed in bed for two whole days and try to take it easy from now on. That was really easy to do since I literally did nothing all day.

I had woken up this morning feeling extremely exhausted and crappy all over, this pregnancy was already taking a toll on my body. I didn't even have enough strength in me to make it out of bed but I tried anyways. I made my way into the bathroom to take a quick shower and brushed my teeth, I knew Dawn would be coming in soon with breakfast. After I was done, I went straight to my closet to put on a big shirt and some shorts.

After a while, I found myself on the bed, snuggled into the comforter with a book in my hand. What I hadn't expected though, was to hear Talon's name being called from the other side of the door -and for the door to burst open to reveal a girl who definitely wasn't Dawn.

She was tall and curvy, like a supermodel. She had blonde hair that didn't look at all natural and a nose ring that glistened in the specks of sunlight coming through the open window. Her long hair hung in waves around her face and cascaded down her shoulders, making her brown eyes stand out more. She didn't seem like the sweet and innocent type, and her brows narrowed as she stepped into the room, her eyes looking around before she finally shut the door. "Who the fuck are you?" She asked with clear irritation.

I was too stunned to speak, and could only stare at her in shock.

"How difficult is it to answer a simple question?" She scoffed, clearly not pleased with my silence.

"I'm sorry... what?" I managed to stammer out.

Rolling her eyes, she crossed her arms over her chest. "I asked who the fuck you were... And why the hell are you in this room?" She asked again taking me by surprise.

She cursed a lot that was for sure.

"Wait a minute, are you Talon's plaything?" She chuckled. "Is he finally tired of that two-faced bitch he calls a mate? Because honestly, I don't have time to deal with you if you are."

"I am not a plaything," I said firmly. I was quite sure no one would hurt me in the capital, knowing I was with Talon. So I decided to try and get a sense of the situation. "May I ask who you are and how I may help you?"

A glint of amusement appeared in the girl's eyes and a smirk crossed her face. "Well I know you're not his mate, he has Willow to occupy that position for him," she said with an eye roll, it was obvious she wasn't a big fan of willow. That made two of us. "What-"

"Which means you're here for sexual amusement or you're snooping around... so which is it?" She continued, interrupting me.

As she stepped towards me, the door opened again and Dawn and Greg entered the room quickly. The fake blonde girl turned around and screeched loudly, she ran straight to Dawn and threw herself on her, pulling her into a tight hug, making both of them stumble onto the floor.

"It's so good to see you. I missed you!" Dawn screamed hugging her tightly.

"I fucking missed you too!" The girl chuckled as she pulled both herself and Dawn off the floor.

Greg was a bit uneasy for some reason, but he had a huge grin on his face, which was quite rare. While Greg wasn't as cold as his Alpha, he normally wouldn't show much emotion either. However, I could tell that he was happy. Who was this girl?

"What have you done to your hair, Emily?" Dawn asked, only now noticing the dyed strands of hair.

Oh. So this was the Emily, Greg had mentioned before he left. And didn't Dawn mention that Greg and Talon were going for a few days?

"Clearly, I did it to piss Talon off. Funny how he hasn't even seen me yet, since we didn't ride back home in the same car." The girl -Emily- said, twirling some strands of hair on her finger.

I saw Greg pinch the bridge of his nose in annoyance, obviously at the girl. He stepped forward and stood at the edge of my bed.

"How're you feeling, Avalyn?" He asked me softly.

"Uhm... I'm fine, thank you." I replied with a small smile, noticing the pair of eyes on me.

I saw Dawn's mouth open as she began to say something, but was quickly cut off as the door once again burst open, revealing the towering figure of Talon. My breath caught in my lungs as his brown eyes immediately fell on me, the scent of musk filling my nostrils like oxygen made me freeze.

Immediately, Dawn and Greg quickly bowed in respect as he walked into the room. I looked on in surprise as the girl walked over and threw her arms around Talon, hugging him tightly.

"Hello to you, Talon." She greeted.

What the hell! Did talon allow that? I knew I had no right to be, but I was suddenly overcome by a wave of jealousy.

"What, big bro? No warm greeting for your baby sister?"

What? Talon had a younger sister? I was embarrassed by my own unreasonable jealousy now.

"Why are you here, Emily?" Talon grumbled, not seeming to appreciate the affection she was offering him. "You can't just go around barging into people's rooms without respecting their privacy."

"Privacy for your plaything?" She asked as her gaze returned to me once more. Talon quickly stepped in front of me, blocking her line of sight.

I knew that Talon was temperamental at times when it came to me, but this was his sister -was he really not going to tell her anything?

"This is Avalyn," Greg finally said with a smile. "She's a special guest of your brother's, and she needs not be disturbed."

"Is she your girlfriend, Talon?" Emily asked again, and this time I was able to see the small smirk on her face.

"No, she's my breeder." Talon snarled, getting out of his sister's embrace.

Emily's eyes widened in shock. "Are you f*****g shitting me?" She exclaimed, making everyone cringe at her words. "How did dear old Willow take the news?"

"Emily, right now really is not the time. Please let's leave and let Avalyn get her rest. I've asked the maids to bring up her breakfast, I'm sure they'll be here any moment now." Dawn's attempt to fix the situation was not effective, because Talon's sister didn't seem like she was ready to listen to what any of them had to say.

"I just want to get to know her, she'll be carrying my little niece or nephew soon. What pack is she from? And why does she smell different?" Emily pressed on, ignoring Dawn.

I watched as Talon's features contorted into that of anger and he let out a low growl. "Get out, Emily!" He demanded, but Emily rolled her eyes, obviously ignoring her brother's empty threat.

Dawn gently gripped Emily's arm and pulled her aside. "You know, Lydia was just asking about you the other day. She's going to be hurt if you don't go see her first."

Emily turned around and smiled. "Nice job deflecting, Dawn." She said. "This isn't over, but for now I'll let it go." She called out to Talon over her shoulder before stalking from the room with Dawn at her heels.

"I'll go make sure she stays out of trouble." Greg sighed, before bowing his head in respect and leaving Talon and me alone in the room.

The whole situation had my mind spinning. Talon had a sister, and damn did she curse a lot.

Talon turned with a sigh and faced me. His cold brown eyes immediately turned soft as he glanced over my body, leaving me with a feeling of uncertainty.

"How're you feeling?" He asked, walking closer to sit down at the edge of the bed.

"I'm fine," I replied softly. I watched as he ran his hands down my hair, humming softly.

"Greg told me." He said with an equally soft voice. I wasn't even surprised that he'd been informed, he was their Alpha after all. "Do you know how old it is?"

"Uhm... Lydia said I'm four weeks in." I replied, staring at him in awe. He was so gentle with me.

He smiled. A small ghostly smile but I saw it.

"I have to go now." He said, getting up from the bed. "I'll be back later in the evening to check on you. Just make sure you rest, Avalyn."

And with that, he didn't wait one moment longer before storming from the room and shutting the door behind himself once more, leaving me with my own thoughts and so many questions that didn't have answers.
