The Lycan Series
The Lycan King’s Breeder Chapter 42

Avalyn's POV

As quickly as we stepped out of my room, the warmth Talon had exuded around me was quickly replaced by coldness. As we walked along the long hallway, maids and cooks bowed their heads as they greeted their King. I still wasn't used to seeing Talon like this, not when he was gentle and kind to me when we were in the comfort of my room.

A little while later, I found out the reason why Talon had said I didn't have to go downstairs -and to be honest, a part of me wished that I had listened to him and just stayed up in my room. The garden was filled with people, mainly women who were gossiping and moving about in small groups, looking for something to entertain themselves with.

"Avalyn!" A chirpy voice exclaimed and I watched as Dawn came walking over quickly with an excited expression on her face.

"I guess this is where I'll leave you to your friend," Talon whispered from behind me.

I turned to him and gave him a small smile. "Thank you," I said.

He nodded and then walked off in the direction of the village.

"I would have come to get you, had I known you still wanted to come after the shit show that happened this morning?" Dawn said as she came to give me a hug, which I reciprocated.

"I know. I admit I honestly wasn't going to, but I decided to take advantage of the chance to see something other than those four walls of my room." I said with an eye roll. "Plus, I didn't feel quite right this morning, I'm still so hungry." I sighed. Even after the shit ton of food, I'd been served this morning, I still felt really empty.

Dawn chuckled at my confession. "Come on then, let's get you something to eat." She replied, smiling as she looped her arms through mine and led me over to a table.

There I saw Emily, Talon's sister, sitting and drinking coffee. Realising Dawn had probably been eating with her, I lamented even more about why I had come downstairs.

"Uhm... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on your breakfast." I said, offering Dawn a sympathetic smile.

"Oh, don't be silly!" She exclaimed, calling a waiter over and showing me to my seat.

Emily looked up from her coffee and smirked at me. "She's right, I think we got off on the wrong foot. And I apologize." She said, taking me by surprise, she didn't seem like the type to apologize for anything. "I thought you were some other bitch looking to steal my brother's money and take your place as his Luna for power."

I stared at her in shock. "Oh- n-no I would never." I stuttered at how blunt she was.

Emily laughed, and Dawn smiled at my response.

"Calm down, Dawn explained the situation to me, there's no need to worry. I'm sorry to hear of some of the things you've been going through." Emily's response was not what I had expected. Yes, I had been through a lot, but I didn't think that anyone would care so much about it. "It's fine," I said. "I'm pretty much used to it."

"Yes, but that's just it. You shouldn't have to be used to it." Her words were kind and I could see in her eyes that she was sincere. "Don't worry though, you have another person in your corner now-and my brother knows better than to upset me." She chuckled. Dawn choked on her water and began laughing, which caused Emily to smirk. I was at a loss for words over what was going on. I could see that there was a strong connection between the two girls that far surpassed the one I had with Dawn, and I loved how they seemed to have a bond. More than anything, I wished I had a bond like that with someone.

"Emily is a bit of a rebel, Avalyn. Careful -or she will have you doing things you've never done before, and trust me when I say they'll get you in trouble." Dawn laughed, avoiding Emily's hands as she tried to swat at her.

"Don't listen to her or Greg, I'm not that bad -I just don't take my brother's shit." A smirk appeared on her face as she sipped her coffee once more. "And I really don't care for his mate."

Dawn rolled her eyes at this. "Why do you hate Willow so much though?"

"Because she's a horrible person, I don't know why nobody's seen her for who she truly is," Emily said in a matter-of-fact tone. "And I just know it was her idea to send me away, it had to be. She hates me just as much as I hate her."

I stared at both of them, not saying a word. Of course, I agreed with Emily that Willow was horrible, I just wouldn't dare to say anything about it. She was Talon's sister, she could get away with anything. I was just the breeder. "You were sent to school abroad because you were wreaking havoc left and right," Dawn said, staring at Emily with a raised eyebrow.

"That's bullshit and you know it. Dawn, come on, I know you can't stand her either. You just have a really good way of not showing it," Emily said dismissively.

"You don't know shit. She's my Luna and I serve her."

"Okay, kiss ass," Emily smirked. "What about you, Avy? Do you think Willow is a bitch?" She asked, turning to me.

Yes. Yes, I definitely did, but I knew I couldn't say that.

"Uhm... I-I don't... she seems very nice." I conjured up the biggest, most fake smile to appear on my face.

Emily groaned at my answer. "You guys are no fun."

"Yeah, well neither are you." Dawn replied quietly.

I was pretty sure Emily heard, but she chose to ignore her instead. "So, Avy, you're a human." She said as she turned to me. "That's pretty cool."

"Thanks... I think." I replied, unsure of what else to say.

"I went to a human school and they were all pretty cool. I mean, of course, they didn't know I was a werewolf."

"You went to a human school?" I couldn't help but ask in shock. Talon didn't seem like the type to send his sister to school with humans, he despised our type. He'd made that obvious right from the very beginning. "Surprising isn't it? I think it was his own way of punishing me, sending me far away to a world I wasn't accustomed to. Well too bad for him, I fit in there perfectly." Emily scoffed. I could picture her fitting in with humans. "That's so cool," I whispered, amusement dripping from my voice. It amazed me that a werewolf could go to school and not be discovered, it made me wonder if there were some at my school.

She chuckled. "Yeah it is, I made quite a lot of friends. There was Avery, Justine, Emma -she did this for me." She pointed to the piercing on her nose, "Derek -he was the school nerd, but surprisingly very good in bed. Like seriously, that dude was so good with his ton-" "Oh goddess, I don't want to hear about your s*x life, Emily," Dawn interjected, covering her ears with her palms, causing Emily to laugh out loud.

"Funny how your brother caught me in the act at Dark-moon." She said, taking a sip of her coffee. "It wasn't even like we were having s*x or anything, we were just making out and he f*****g flipped out as he'd just caught me banging some murderous monster." Dawn abruptly stood up and grabbed my hand. "Avalyn and I are leaving." She said loudly. Emily almost toppled off of the chair in laughter at Dawn's reaction. Even I couldn't help the small chuckle that fell out of my lips. "We have to go get ready for your party. Keep your s*x stories to yourself."

"Aww, Dawn, come on!" Emily laughed.

"Bye." Dawn dragged me along with her, I turned around and waved goodbye to Emily. She smirked and nodded before turning back to face her unfinished coffee on the table.

As we made our way back up the stairs, Dawn broke the silence, "She's a handful, I know." She sighed.

"It's fine, she's really fun to be around." I chuckled at my response.

"Yeah, you're right," Dawn said, a small smile on her face. "How're you feeling?"

I shrugged. "I'm fine. I know I'm pregnant now, but I really don't feel any different. Just hungrier."

"And exhausted?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Very exhausted." I agreed with a sigh. I couldn't deny the exhaustion, I just hoped I had enough energy to go through with tonight's dinner.
