"It hasn't even been a full year," I retorted.

"We are sorry for what we did. It was cruel of us to use you in a deal forcibly," Vince said. I looked him in the eyes and he shrunk back. My memories of what happened last time flashed before me but I was quick to banish them away from my head for good.

"And me, going into your room that night and almost doing that atrocious deed last time, I'm sorry. I may not be your real brother but still, I should have protected you instead, I was the one to cause you pain," He said, sounding sincere now.

"Dad would be so disappointed in me, he accepted me and gave me his love after my real father abandoned us. How could I be so cruel to his child, my sister?" His breath shudders and I c**k an eyebrow. I'm not sure if he's been truthful with his words between the tears and drinking.

Evelyn started tearing up, and I rolled my eyes, she was such a bad actress.

"We've had time to reflect on everything and we are sorry," She cried.

"Also, I quit gambling and am now working on stopping my alcohol intake," Vince informed me. I gave him a vague smile.

They were talking about all the improvements and I was getting bored now

"And also, remember that maid that I used to mistreat? I like her now and -" I cut her off before she could finish.

"If you are scared I'll banish or kick you out, relax, I know you don't have a penny to your name and you selling me to Alpha Edward Chasia was the best thing you ever did for me," I told them and they nodded, now proud of themself. I stood up and turned to leave but they stopped me,

"Also, do you think you can ask the new accountant to give us monthly cash, we don't need too much," Evelyn smiled at me sweetly and I crossed my arms against my chest, baffled at the audacity. How can she want money she doesn't work for?

"Yes, last time, I went out to eat and my date had to pay because my cards declined," Vince complained too and my mouth was open in surprise.

"Really?" I mocked them but they didn't get it in my tone.

"Oh Cali, we are suffering, just look at my nails and my club membership expired months ago, I'm the laughing stock around here, please help us, dear," Evelyn begged, her hands clasped together.

"We are, after all, family," Vince added.

"So, now, I'm family?"

"You've always been," Evelyn was fast to say. They seemed desperate for money and as much as I enjoyed watching them and wanting to gloat, I had better things to do.

"You are right, we are family, after all, my father loved you both," I said and they sighed in relief

"We need more workers in the fields, starting tomorrow, you should go there and tell Mr. Jabes I sent you, he will be more than pleased to give you work and at the end of the week, you shall be paid your wages," I smiled tightly at them. Their smiles faded and like they planned it, all color drained from their faces.

"Laborers? At the fields?" Vince said, shocked that I even suggested that. Evelyn's eyes were stuck on me, all kinds of emotions on her face, fear, panic, and betrayal were written on her plastic face.

"Yes, did you think I'm letting you live for free? No, you must earn your keep," I barked and turned to walk out, not before hearing a loud thud and I laughed, Evelyn fainted. I couldn't trust those two anywhere near the company.

As soon as I closed the door I received a phone call from Love.

"Hello," I answered.

"Hi, Love, how are you?" I greeted. She started to tell me how her days were and I listened with a smile on my face. She thinks a boy likes her and that perked up my interest. "Do you like him?" I asked.

"No, I like his friend, Chase," She informed me

"But Chase likes Chichi," She sighed.

I gave Love some advice and just as I ended the phone call with her, Edward called.

"You sound exhausted," I told him.

"A fight broke out, and only made today's meeting longer," He told me.

"Who was fighting?" I asked. I was now taking off my clothes, the servants had prepared a nice bubble bath for me.
