- Violet -

---TWO WEEKS LATER

"How is she?!"

Violet raced down the hospital corridor and Damon was right behind her. In the waiting area, Talia, Liam, and Barbara were seated. "She's fine, they're just resting now," Barbara replied.

Violet let out a sigh of relief and gave her mother a hug. Today was the day before Thanksgiving and everything was like a tornado. Violet was busy wrapping up things at her coffee shop while Damon had to finish last-minute things at the Mayor's Office. And in the middle of all that, suddenly they got a call from Dylan saying that Ivy was in labor.

Normally, when one calls their family to say they're in labor, it might still take 4 to 8 hours or more before the mother finally gives birth. But in Ivy's case, things happened extremely fast. Within half an hour of being in the hospital, it was already pushing time. Damon and Violet had to race from the opposite parts of the city to get there. It didn't help that traffic was a nightmare at this time of the day. Luckily though, they got there just in time.

"Hi, are you the family?" A nurse came out of the restricted hallway and stood in front of Violet and her family.

"Yes," everyone said in unison.

The nurse looked at them from side to side before nodding her head.

"Okay... Follow me,"

Violet, Damon, and the rest quickly followed the nurse down the corridor. She let them into a room, pushing the door back before stepping away. Violet was the first person to step inside. She saw the typical hospital bed and Ivy was lying there. In front of her was Dylan and he had his back turned to her.

"Ivy? Dylan?"

Dylan turned around and he had the biggest smile on his face. The biggest smile of all. Violet had never seen him smile like that. He even had tears in his eyes. He was crying and smiling at the same time. "We got another boy, y'all!" he exclaimed proudly.

Behind him, Ivy was holding a baby wrapped in a little blue towel. Everyone barged in right away, crowding the bed. Violet caught a glimpse of the baby's face and her heart melted at the sight.

"Awwww!" Everyone was oohing and aahing.

"Oh! He's so precious!" Barbara gushed.

"He's beautiful, Ivy," Violet agreed.

"Congratulations, you two," Damon said, shaking Dylan's hand.

"Oh my effing God, that was such a trip," Dylan laughed.

"You saw the whole thing, huh?" Liam said knowingly.

"Dylan, don't swear in front of James!" Ivy protested, covering the baby's ear.

"I said effing!" Dylan argued.

"Still!" Ivy argued back.

"Wait, you guys named him James?" Violet asked.

Ivy and Dylan stopped arguing instantly. They turned to Violet with a big smile and nodded their heads.

"Yup, we named him after dad," Dylan said.

Violet was in awe. She turned to her mom and Barbara had tears in her eyes.

"Can I hold him?" Barbara stepped forward, opening her arms.

"Sure," Ivy said as she handed the baby to his grandma.

Barbara shed tears as she held her second grandson. Violet was standing next to her. She put her hand on the baby's cheek and James held onto her finger.

"His full name is James Brandon Carvey. JB for short," Ivy said, pausing for a beat as she glanced at Dylan. "And uh... we wanna ask you two something,"

Dylan and Ivy were staring at Damon and Violet. Damon and Violet exchanged a confused look.

"Shoot," Damon said.

Ivy held Dylan's hand and the couple exchanged a nod.

"Well, we've seen how you two are such great godparents to Asher. So, we want you to be James's godparents too,"

"What do you say, Vi?" Dylan asked. "I'm your son's godfather, so I think it's fair that you be my son's godmother,"

A big smile curved up Violet's lips as she nodded her head. When Asher was born, Talia asked Damon and Violet to be his godparents. They happily agreed of course. Prior to that, Violet and Damon asked Talia to be Zach's godmother, and Dylan to be his godfather. Everyone was all connected in this way. They were one big, beautiful family.

"We'd be honored," Damon said in agreement, holding Violet's hand.

Dylan and Ivy let out a happy sigh of relief. They knew there was no one better to trust their kid to. Because when Damon and Violet love, they love hard.

*****

The rest of that afternoon was spent happily in that hospital room. They stayed for a few hours before heading back home, giving Ivy and Dylan some time to rest. Tomorrow was Thanksgiving dinner and they adamantly said they would be back just in time. Damon said if they couldn't make it back, he'll bring Thanksgiving dinner over to the hospital.

The group walked out of the hospital and stood outside, waiting for the car to pick them up. Damon and Violet were standing behind Liam and Talia, and Barbara was nearby.

"So, more boys, huh?" Damon said to Violet.

"Yup," she nodded knowingly. "We got a boy of our own and we're godparents to two more boys. All at the same age,"

"Our house is gonna get even rowdier,"

Violet let out a smile.

"I love it," she said. "Zach's only six months old and he's already got two brothers,"

"Yeah, and he's such a social butterfly," Damon agreed. "He loves playing with Ash. He loves playing with everyone. There's no doubt that he's gonna love James too,"

The smile on Violet's face grew wider. She was so excited. Sure, with all the boys in the house, life was about to get even crazier from now on. But still, she wouldn't want it any other way.

"Hey, it's great having three boys in the house, but I still want a granddaughter," Barbara chimed in suddenly. Then she threw a wink at Damon and Violet, muttering, "So, you two better get to work,"

"Mom!" Violet gaped in embarrassment. Damon just laughed away.

"Just kidding," Barbara said quickly, but she threw one last wink at Damon again.

Violet's cheek flared up red. Luckily for her, their car pulled up so she could escape the embarrassing conversation. She got into the car quickly, and Damon sat next to her. They didn't say another word to each other on that car ride home, but Violet could feel the tension every time her knee brushed up against his knee. And all the while, Barbara just smiled mischievously, sitting in the back seat.

The next morning, the Van Zandt estate was lighting up as they prepared for the Thanksgiving dinner party. There was a Michelin starred chef and his team that prepared the food. They also had florists and decorators come in.

Violet was excited to host Thanksgiving dinner tonight. Not only was it their first Thanksgiving with baby Zach, but they also invited fifty kids from a nearby orphanage to come and join the party. There was so much love in that house, Violet felt it was their duty to share it.

But as the afternoon wore on, Violet heard the news that Dylan and Ivy were still stuck in the hospital. There wasn't anything bad, but the doctor strongly recommended that Ivy stays in the hospital for at least 24 hours after the birth. They would be discharged tomorrow morning, but until then, they'd have to spend Thanksgiving eating hospital food and strawberry Jell-O.

Violet didn't like that at all, and Damon held true to his promise. He decided to move the party over to the hospital, and he even prepared food for all the doctors and nurses who had to work during Thanksgiving. Within the next hour, the whole hospital was filled with wonderful food and gifts. All the nurses received flowers, and everyone got to eat some warm, home-cooked meals.

Not long after that, reporters started showing up at the hospital. There were also homeless people that came by thinking they could get some free meals, and they did. There was plenty to go around and Damon had no hesitation to share.

Many of Damon's critics called this a publicity stunt, but this mayor was just true to his heart. He and his wife just wanted to take care of as many people as they could.

And so, that was how the Mayor of Jersey City spent Thanksgiving dinner at St. Mary's General Hospital with fifty kids from an orphanage, doctors, nurses, all the other health professionals, and of course, with his closest family and friends. He also got to hold his grandson, James, in his arms. Needless to say, it was the most memorable Thanksgiving dinner up to date.

"I really love our family," Violet gushed as she leaned her head on Damon's shoulder. They were standing in the corner of the hospital lobby. They watched how everyone was mingling, laughing, and playing together. It was like they were one big, crazy, happy family. "Me too," Damon agreed. "We have so much to be thankful for,"

"Yeah," she said, turning her face toward his. "I'm so thankful for you and everything that we've accomplished,"

Damon turned his gaze toward her too. The moment their eyes met, everything else seemed to fall away. To this day, it was still the most magical thing in the world for Damon. How Violet could shut down an entire room just by looking at her... It was priceless. "So... what do you think about adding more happiness into the mix?" Damon said with a grin.

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean,"

Violet narrowed her eyes, but Damon just kept that grin. She kept looking at him for an answer, but he was just grinning and glancing at the kids playing behind them.

Slowly and cautiously, Violet asked, "Are you saying... you want another baby?"

"Why not, right?" Damon replied shamelessly. "The more the merrier?"

"Damon," she slapped his arm, blushing bright pink.

"I'm serious," he said, holding onto her arms, and locking his gaze with her. "I want you to have my babies. As many as you want,"

Violet's mouth fell open, but there were no words coming out. She stared at him for the longest time, and he just stood there, coolly and unfazed.

"So... you want another baby... now?" she asked again.

This time, Damon let out a chuckle and grabbed her hand. He figured it was better to respond with actions rather than words.

"Let's go home,"
