The Man in Power After Being Married into Her Family -
Chapter 4010
When Charlie, Stephanie, and Claudia followed Gopher, they realized that there was another hidden room downstairs.
A large hall hosting about one hundred and fifty to sixty square meters entered their vision, filled with all types of gambling tables.
A dealer stood at every gambling table. Yet, some tables had less customers than the others.
It only took Charlie one glance to know that business was terrible. Half of the gambling tables had no customers. Some tables had only one player, and other tables had at most three to five players. Suffice to say, it made for a rather dull mood. Charlie frowned and grumbled in a
disappointed tone, "Your establishment has very few customers. Why is that?"
His question embarrassed Gopher, who was unsure how to reply.
Business was getting worse and worse recently, with fewer customers frequenting the establishment.
However, he couldn't possibly reveal this to Charlie. He plastered a cheery grin and said offhandedly, "We came early. Many of our customers like to come a little later."
But Charlie cut him off without mercy and said unabashedly, "I've played in so many casinos around the world. No matter what country it is, the prime time for casinos is from eight to twelve at midnight. It's already past nine, but you still don't have any customers. I think it's clear that your business isn't doing well."
So saying, Charlie shook his head. He went on sarcastically, "Good casinos would already be fully packed at this time. Your place is terrific! So much that you have more guards than customers."
At this, Gopher's embarrassment grew.
But he knew that Charlie had a huge amount of cash on hand, so he feared that Charlie might suddenly change his mind and decide that he wouldn't want to play anymore. Gopher's work would go to waste; f that happened!
He was an arrogant man, but even he understood his limits. He dared not commit murder in the casino just to snatch away Charlie's money. If word about it got out to the public, the casino would be done for.
So, he tried to convince Charlie,
"Look, my guy, I'm not going to lie to
you. We serve mainly customers
with high net worth, unlike the casinos run by other gangs where just about anyone could enter. This i s mainly to provide a comfortable and quiet atmosphere for them."
Gopher then added in a flattering manner," You came all the way here from such a far place. You're not only Stephanie's relative, but you're also a compatriot from Oskia. That makes you a VIP. I'll personally serve you tonight and ensure that you
have a good time here!"
Immediately afterwards, Gopher turned to one of his subordinates and commanded arrogantly, "Get this gentleman ten thousand Canadian dollars' worth of chips and put it on my tab.”
He then returned to Charlie with a friendly grin. "I'll give you ten thousand Canadian dollars' worth of chips for free. You can play around and try your luck first!"
For casinos, the chips that were given up front were bait. They had many ways to win those chips back and lure the customer into paying everything.
Charlie laughed before saying indifferently, "I, Charlie Wade, have been gambling from the south to the north, and the east to the west. Although I've lost more and won less, I've never taken other people's chips to gamble just because I cannot afford to lose!" After saying that, he took out ten bundles of cash from the plastic bag and threw them into Gopher's arms. "Change them for one hundred thousand dollars' worth of chips."
Charlie's gesture was a huge blow to Gopher. Gopher hurriedly grabbed the money after Charlie threw it carelessly at him, feeling indignant and humiliated.
The way Charlie yelled at him infuriated him, but he couldn't let slip his anger.
Instead he cursed in his heart, 'Damn it! This bastard is fucking arrogant! I'm not a lackey! How dare you order me to change chips for you?!'
His eyes fell on the money, and he changed his tune. 'Then again, I actually have one hundred thousand Canadian dollars in my hand! Maybe I can even get a pocket full of this asshole's money! This is a big deal... I have to control my temper." Just like that, his shame and anger vanished instantly.
Another thought crossed his mind.
'This man's loaded. He's probably used to people serving him like some sort of king whenever he goes gambling. Maybe that's why he's treating me like this. Ugh, whatever. I'll just serve him tonight and try tolerate him. I mean, who can't get along with money?'
And so, Gopher flashed Charlie a big smile. "Right, give me a moment. I'll go and change the chips for you right now!"
