At that moment, Andre thought he had found a way out. Without an ounce of hesitation, he nodded and declared eagerly, "Mr. Wade, I'd like to join the Ten Thousand Armies!"

Charlie nodded, pleased. Things were going right according to plan. He then turned to Gopher and asked, "What about you, Gopher? Are you interested in joining the Ten Thousand Armies?" Gopher looked up and said earnestly, "Mr. Wade, I...I'm more than interested... Joining the Ten Thousand Armies is such an honor!"

He continued to flatter Charlie, adding, "Mr. Wade... Since our gang will be under your wing, there's something I wonder if I

should tell you..."

Judging from the way Gopher's eyes were darting around, Charlie knew that the man bore ill will. Still, whatever plot Gopher had wouldn't shake him. And so, he waved and smiled leisurely, and said, "Go ahead."

Gopher began excitedly, "Mr. Wade, our country has an old adage saying that people of a different ethnicity or race can't be trusted. Now that you've taken our gang under your wing, I'm sure you need a trustworthy person to help you command, lead, and supervise them so as to prevent any future rebellions! You shouldn't let Andre be the brains of this organization anymore. Otherwise, he might catch you off guard and try to stab you behind your back!"

Andre was furious. He glared at Gopher and howled, "What the hell do you mean by

that?!'

Gopher ignored the shouting man. His attention remained on Charlie, and he added fervently, "Mr. Wade, I've mingled with this organization for a long time. I understand them well. If you let me manage them, I guarantee you, everything will be in order. Nothing will go wrong!"

Charlie listened seriously. A look of admiration crossed his face and he said approvingly, "To think you'd seize the chance to climb the ranks even at a time like this. I have to admit, you're a quick thinker."

Gopher was flattered. He didn't ease up on the brown-nosing and went on, "I don't have many talents, Mr. Wade, but my brain is quite useful. Also, I'm loyal and steadfast. We're Oskians, anyway. Only our fellow Oskians can be trusted! If you trust me, I'll serve you with all that I have. I'll be at your beck and call!"

Andre panicked upon witnessing Gopher's eagerness in proving his loyalty to Charlie.

He feared that Charlie might just pass over the authority to Gopher and let Gopher go with just a flick of his wrist. If that happened, Andre was sure that his gang would fall.

Thus, he pointed at Gopher and shouted at Charlie, "Mr. Wade, don't be fooled by this man! This b*stard isn't a good man!"

Charlie scoffed. "Both of you are in

the same gang By saying that he isn't a good man, are you implying

that you're any better? Gopher merely conned a few hundred thousand bucks off me at the casino, but you conned off millions from me. Yet, you still weren't

satisfied and tried to take my ship.

The way I see it, you're worse than I

him.

Andre was rendered speechless, unable to come up with a retort. It was true that he was more ruthless when he cheated money out of Charlie. At the moment, he was tongue-tied.

Just then, Charlie turned to the rest

of the gang and said, "I wanted to get rid of trash like you. But out of consideration for the fact that most of you didn't offend me, I'll let you off this time. From now on, Gopher : s your new boss. You'll all serve the Ten Thousand Armies with all your heart. Do you understand?!"

They couldn't possibly reject such a good offer! All of them professed their agreement, eagerly at that.

Charlie turned back to Andre. "Andre, you're just too malicious. If you weren't so diabolical, you wouldn't have harmed so many of your brothers. If you keep on being the boss of so many subordinates, none of them will end well."

Upon hearing Charlie's words, the rest of the gang came to realize that his claims ring true.

Gopher took this opportunity to say, "Men, Mr. Wade is right! If Andre wasn't so wicked and tried to devour all of Mr.

Wade's assets, the Ten Thousand Armies wouldn't have pointed their guns at us!

This is all his fault!"

Then, he added eagerly, "Ever since our last boss passed away, Andre claimed that he'd help everyone earn more money. In actual fact, our salaries haven't changed at all!'
