The Man in Power After Being Married into Her Family -
Chapter 4098
His great-great-great-grandfather crossed the ocean and arrived in the United States in the late dynasty. The man had been one of many Oskian workers who participated in the construction of the American Pacific Railway. Since his generation, the Luke family had taken root in the United States. They prospered by virtue of an Oskian's hard working quality.
The Luke family started out as an Oskian worker who was at the bottom of American society.
Since then, the Luke family had amassed a fortune worth tens of billions of US dollars after their long stay in the United States. Such a success story could be regarded as a model of the Oskian struggle.
The Luke family also carried forward the characteristics of merchants. They worked along the southeast coast of Oskia, and were very keen to unite their compatriots for further cooperation.
This was also the reason Nathaniel's greatgrandfather founded the Oskian Chamber of Commerce in New York decades ago. It gradually became one of the largest Oskian Chamber of Commerce in the United States.
After Nathaniel took over the position as the chairman, he devoted himself to developing the New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce into becoming the National Oskian Chamber of Commerce. After his tireless back and forth with many members of the Oskian Chamber of Commerce from around the world, he finally convinced the majority of the members within the Oskian Chamber of Commerce in the United States into agreeing to a merger. Afterwards, they renamed their association as the National Óskian Chamber of Commerce.
As the person who fought hard for this achievement, Nathaniel hoped to become the first chairman of the newly-renamed National Oskian Chamber of Commerce after the merger.
However, there were two other Oskian Chamber of Commerce associations that were no less powerful than the New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce. Namely, the Chamber of Commerce from Los Angeles and Chicago.
Nathaniel was fraught with painful headaches when he despaired over how he could compete with the chairmen of these two associations.
He had been trying to figure ways to raise the New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce's influence before the merger. That way, he could gain an advantage over his two dissidents.
It was also precisely for this reason that he specifically arranged for the New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce to collaborate with Quinn Golding's concert. Nathaniel was overjoyed.
He was impatient, eagerly waiting for Quinn's arrival. Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine Homer, the eldest young master of the Fox family, would actually take the initiative to look for him.
There were two major Oskian families in the United States that all the Oskian Chamber of Commerce wanted to win over. One was the Acker family, the other was the Fox family.
The Fox family's strength cannot be
compared to that of the Acker
family, they were still a major
powerhouse and trumped over a
majority of renowned Oskian families in North America. As the Acker family couldn't care less about rubbing shoulders with the Chamber of Commerce, the Fox family naturally followed suit.
Before this, Nathaniel planned to invite Homer's father, Xavion Fox. He extended his offer several times, only the cold shoulder. Xavion couldn't be bothered.
Now, Homer Fox was actually taking the initiative to come to his door! Nathaniel was ecstatic. He invited the young Homer into his office, careful to act respectfully all the way.
In the office, Nathaniel lamented, "Dear me! I never expected that you'd be here today, Young Master Fox. I must apologize for my inadequate welcome. Your appearance is a great honor for us New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce!" Nathaniel then introduced himself. "Young Master Fox, my name is Nathaniel Luke. I am the chairman of the New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce."
Homer was pleased with Nathaniel's compliments and respectful manner of speech. Smiling, he said, "Chairman Luke, I heard that our New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce is the largest Oskian Chamber of Commerce in the United
States. You must have contributed
to it!"
Nathaniel hurriedly said, "Young Master Fox, you're flattering me... The New York Oskian Chamber of Commerce has had a history of several decades. Its achievements are all thanks to all the previous chairmen." Nathaniel then asked carefully, "Young Master Fox, may I know the purpose of your grand visit today?"
Homer gave Nathaniel a faint smile
and announced smugly, "I came to see you because I want to collaborate with the New York
Oskian Chamber of Commerce
our collaboration goes well, I will consider representing the Fox family and become an official member of your association."
