The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 22
Jessica POV
My eyes started to flutter open, as I slowly woke up. My head was pounding and my body ached. It was dark and I didn’t recognize the room I was in. Slowly, memories of what happened, started coming back to me. I jolted up from the bed, as panic started to take over. Alpha Colton drugged me and kidnapped me.
“You’re awake.” I heard a deep husky voice say, coming from the corner of the room.
I looked over, to find Alpha Colton sitting in an armchair. My heart started to hammer in my chest and I started to walk backwards, away from him.
“How do you feel, Jessica?” He asked and actually sounded concerned.
“Wh-what are y-you?” I stuttered out. Alpha Colton let out a long sigh, before speaking.
“Sit down, I’ll tell you everything.” He replied and pointed to the couch. He stood up from the armchair and walked towards the couch, I didn’t follow, I was frozen in my spot.
“Jessica sit.” He ordered and I slowly walked to over to the couch. As I was walking, my legs gave way and I started to fall, I closed my eyes and waited for the impact, but it never came. When I opened my eyes, Alpha Colton was holding me in his arms, against his chest. How did he reach me so fast? He was on the other side of the room, there’s no way he could of reached me, before I hit the floor.
“The sedative is still in your body, you’ll have to take it easy, for a little while.” He said, with a concerned frown.
“H-how did you d-do that?” I asked, barely above a whisper. He carried me over to the couch and gently placed me down on it, before he took a seat beside me.
“Jessica, I’m a werewolf.” Alpha Colton said, in a serious tone. My eyes went wide in shock, as I thought back to the fight, when I saw him changed into a wolf with my very own eyes. I quickly shifted away from him on the couch. What the hell is going on? He’s a werewolf? Is he going to kill me?
Alpha Colton was watching my reaction intensely.
“The man in the alleyway, that was Alpha Ryan. He claims, that you came from his pack, before you woke up from the coma. He’s not a nice man, I’m not sure what exactly he wants with you, but I know it’s probably not good.” Alpha Colton explained and I was trying to process his words, but it was hard. All I kept thinking about, was that he’s a werewolf.
“I brought you here, to protect you from him. I know I didn’t treat you very well, the last time you were here, but I promise, you won’t be mistreated again.” Alpha Colton said and I could see the regret and sincerity in his eyes. For some reason, his soft voice was calming me.
“You’re a werewolf?” I asked, with disbelief in my voice and he smiled slightly.
“Yes, maybe I’m going a little to fast. Let’s start with the werewolf part.” Alpha Colton suggest, with a small smile.
“How is that possible? Do you eat people? Are you going to eat m…” I started blurting out questions and as I did, panic started to grow within me, again. Alpha Colton noticed and quickly cut me off.
“No Jessica, I’m not going to eat you. I told you, you’re safe here. Werewolf don’t eat people, we are basically humans, with the ability to shift into a wolf. We eat, act and live, the same as humans for the most part.” Alpha Colton replied, while still watching me carefully.
“How did you catch me, when I was falling a minute ago?” I asked, while thinking about how impossible that was.
“As a werewolf, I have advanced abilities. I’m stronger than a human, I can move faster, my eye sight is better including at night, I have better hearing and my sense of smell is increased.” Alpha Colton replied. This is all so crazy, what else exists in this world, that I didn’t know about?
“Remember when I said, that I couldn’t pickup your scent the first time you were here and I thought you were hiding something?” Alpha Colton asked and I simply nodded my head. I remember all to well, he scared the crap out of me, when I didn’t know how to answer his questions.
“Well, this is going to be a bit of a shock. I think you’re also a werewolf.” He said and paused for minute, letting the words sink in. I shook my head violently in disbelief. There’s no way, if I was a werewolf, I would certainly know it.
“We think, a witch used a spell on you, to erase your memory and hide your identity. It was likely, to protect you from someone.” Alpha Colton continued, with his eyebrows furrowed.
“A witch?!” I blurted out, while my eyes grew wide in shock. Now there’s not only werewolves, but witches too?
“Yes Jessica, there are several different supernatural creatures that exist.” Alpha Colton replied.
This was all to much, how is any of this true? But I saw him turn into a wolf, with my own eyes. He’s not lying about being a werewolf. What if everything he’s saying is true? Am I a werewolf? Do witches really exist? I was brought out of my thoughts, when he spoke again.
“You know that tattoo, the one on the back of your neck? I drew a picture of it and showed it to a witch. She confirmed, that it was a wearable spell. That’s why you can’t remember anything and don’t have a scent.” Alpha Colton said. I wonder if it’s true? Is that why, I have no memory from before the coma? When I didn’t say anything, Alpha Colton continued.
“The witch that I spoke with, offered to come and look at the tattoo. She said, seeing it in person, might give her a better idea of what we are dealing with. Maybe, she can help lift the spell.” Alpha Colton suggested, in a hopeful tone.
“Ok.” Is all I managed to replied, while my brain scrambled, to piece everything together.
“Oh, and we had to bring Samantha with us. We think Alpha Ryan knew where you lived, so she would of been in danger, if we had left her there. Let me check with Josh, to see if she’s awake.” Alpha Colton said and I watched as his eyes glazed over for a minute, before they returned back to normal.
“She’s awake, would you like to go see her?” Alpha Colton asked.
“How do you know that?” I asked, with a curious frown. What was with, his eyes glazing over that that?
“It’s called a mind-link. I can talk to any of my pack members in my head, as long as they are within a certain distance.” He replied. That was actually kind of neat, would certainly make life easier if I had that ability, I thought to myself.
“Come on, I’ll bring you to Samantha. But Jessica, you can’t mention anything about us being werewolves. She’s a human, she can’t know of our existence.” Alpha Colton said, as he stood from the couch.
“Ok.” I said softly, as I stood and followed him out of the room.
We walked in silence, down to the floor below the one that I’m staying on, Alpha Colton stopped in front of a closed door.
I could hear shouting coming from inside and I recognized the voice as Sam’s. Fear rushed through me, as I began worry that something bad was happening to Sam. I pushed Alpha Colton aside and threw the door open.
I was shocked, when I saw both Sam and Josh sitting on the bed. They both had big smiles on their faces and seemed to be having a pleasant conversation.
“Oh my god, Jessica! Are you ok?” Sam asked, with a worried tone when she saw me. She stood from the bed and ran over to me, before engulfing me in a tight hug.
“I’m fine, but I c-can’t b-breath.” I gasped out, with a chuckle. She was hugging me so tight, I literally couldn’t breath.
“Oh sorry, I was just so worried about you. Josh told me, that someone was trying to kidnap you and we were in danger, so they brought us here, to keep us safe.” Sam blurted out, while glancing between Josh and I
“How are you?” I asked Samantha, since she was also given a sedative.
“I’m fine, I mean, I was scared when I first woke up in a strange place, but Josh was by myself and explained everything.” Samantha said, with a big smile on her face.
“Hey! Isn’t that the guy from the club, the one you were grinding against” Samantha blurted out, while pointing at Alpha Colton, who stood behind me. Josh snorted at her words and quickly covered the smirk on his face, with his hand.
I glanced back at Alpha Colton, who looked uncomfortable all of a sudden. I was confused by what Sam meant.
“I haven’t been to any clubs. It must of been a look alike.” Alpha Colton quickly replied, but his voice wasn’t as confident as it usually is.
“Wow, you really have a twin out there then. You look just like a guy, that was sucking on Jessica’s neck, last Friday night.” Sam said, while laughing and shaking her head in disbelief. Josh was trying to mask a chuckle, but was doing a terrible job at it. My face instantly blushed, I can’t believe she just said that.
“Ok Sam, I think that’s enough.” I said and gave her a pointed look. I was so embarrassed, I couldn’t even look back at Alpha Colton. He probably thinks I’m a tramp now. But wait, why do I even care what he thinks? I’m a grown up, if I want to dance with men, it’s my choice. I shouldn’t be embarrassed.
“Sorry, it’s just crazy how much he looks like the guy, don’t you think?” She asked me, clearly not letting the subject go. It’s not like I can answer her question, I never got a look at the guy that I danced with. Luckily for me, Alpha Colton spoke up and changed the subject, before I answered.
“You guys must be hungry? How about Josh and I, go and grab you two some food, while you talk?” Alpha Colton suggested and I was grateful.
“Yes please, I’m starved.” Sam replied excitedly, completely forgetting about her question.
Josh stood from the bed and smiled at us, before following Alpha Colton out of the room. He closed the door behind him and I was relieved, when I didn’t hear the sound of a lock clicking. They didn’t lock us in, for some reason that eased my nerves.
“Oh my god Jessica, they’re both gorgeous and Josh is hilarious. I haven’t stopped laughing, since I met him.” Sam squealed out excitedly.
“How did you meet Josh?” I asked curiously, now wanting to know, how he gained access to our apartment.
“He checked into emerge, claiming that he was having chest pain. He started chatting me up. I couldn’t stop laughing he was so funny. Once he was cleared by the doctor, it was the end of my shift. I asked him if he wanted to come have a drink with me and he said yes.” Sam said excitedly. I don’t even think she knows, that he drugged her.
If only Sam new the truth. I’m sure, she wouldn’t be as excited as she is, I thought to myself.
