The Mysterious Luna
Chapter 33

Alpha Colton POV

After Josh and Sam left, I turned my attention back to Jess.

“You really don’t need to stay overnight.” She said.

“What if you need something? The staff have already gone home for the night.” I replied.

“I can walk you know. I’ll be fine, I promise.” She replied.

“No, I’m staying and that’s final.” I said pointedly and gave her a warning look, to stop arguing. She sighed, but didn’t push it any further.

“I can’t believe Sam is Josh’s mate, how does that work? I thought the woman he killed was his mate?” Jess asked, with a curious look.

“Sometimes, the moon goddess blesses you with a second chance mate, when something happens to your first one. Sam turned out to be his.” I replied.

“Wow, they are perfect for each other. I guess everything happens for a reason.” She said, while glanced at me with her beautiful emerald eyes.

“Get some sleep Jess, it’s been a long day and you need the rest.” I said, while adjusting her blanket so that it covered her completely.

She rolled onto her side, the one that wasn’t injured and was now facing me. I watched as she closed her eyes and let out a deep breath. I couldn’t look away from her, she looked so peaceful and relaxed. What I really wanted to do, was climb on the bed and pull her tightly against my body. I had to seriously fight the urge, my wolf kept hassling me to do it but I ignored him.

I leaned back in my chair and eventually fell asleep.

I woke up in the morning, after having the best sleep ever. I opened my eyes and realized that I was now laying in the hospital bed with Jess. One of my arms was wrapped around her waist and her body laid flush against mine. I wonder how I got here? I bet it was Hector, that sneaky mutt must of taking control, after I fell asleep and climb in bed with her.

Jess was still sleeping, I could hear her snoring lightly and it was the cutest sound. I really didn’t want to get up, I was enjoying having her body against mine. Without even realizing what I was doing, I lowered my face into the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, her body shivered when my nose brushed along her skin. I really wish I could get more of her scent, it’s addictive.

She started to stir awake and I panicked, what would she think if she woke up to me in bed with her? I quickly got out of the bed and sat back down in the chair, as she rolled over and opened her eyes.

“Good morning, how did you sleep?” I asked, as a yarn left her lips and she stretched her arms above her head.

“Surprisingly really well. I haven’t woken up this well rested, since I woke up from the coma.” She replied, with a surprised tone. I wonder if it had anything to do with me being close to her?

Our conversation was interrupted, when the doctor walked into the room. He looked over her wounds, everything had healed nicely and was almost completely back to normally. He had no problem discharging Jess from the hospital.

“Come on, I’ll walk you back to the pack house.” I offered.

“Thanks.” She replied in a soft voice, as we left the hospital and made our way back towards the pack house.

“So, Sam mentioned that you threw one of the rogues, quit a distance without using your hands. Do you know how you did it?” I asked and glanced down at her curiously.

“No, I don’t know what happened. One minute he was bitting me and the next, I felt this powerful force, almost like electricity course through my body. I yelled ‘get off me’ and he went flying. I can’t explain it.” She replied, with a frown.

“You might have inherited some witch abilities and now that Gloria cracked the spell, you’re able to dip into them. Werewolves are strong, but the fact that you didn’t use your hands, is what makes me think that it was from your witch side.” I replied.

“Whatever it was, I’m glad it happened or Sam and I would be dead.” She replied, in a serious tone. I didn’t reply, I really didn’t want to think about that.

Once we got back to the pack house, Jess went to her room and I made my way to my office. It’s time to have a chat with Heather.

I sent one of my Omegas to find Heather and ask for her to meet me in my office.

Fifteen minutes later, there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I announced.

The door opened and Heather walked in, with a big smile on her face.

She was wearing the smallest dress I’ve ever seen. It was baby blue and stopped right below her a*s. The top showed off a lot of cleavage, leaving barely anything to the imagination. I found it to be a huge turn off.

“You called for me, Alpha.” Heather said seductively, while walking towards my desk.

“Yes, we need to talk, have a seat.” I replied, in a serious voice.

She sat across from me and her smile fell, when she took in my serious demeanour.

“What’s going on?” She asked, with concern in her voice. I decided to get right to the point, there’s no real reason to drag this out.

“I’ve decided to break the arrangement we made. I won’t be making you my Chosen Mate or Lu…” I stared to say and was cut off.

“You’ve got to be kidding me. It’s that tramp isn’t it? She’s seduced you, hasn’t she?” Heather spat out, angrily.

“No, this has nothing to do with Jessica and everything to do with me. I’m not going to take a chosen mate. I’ve decided that unless I find my fated mate, I will rule this pack on my own.” I said sternly. She was so angry, that I could see her body trembling.

“You made a deal with me and my father, that you were going to make me your Luna. You need to make that happen, or there will be hell to pay.” She threatened. Her face was now red and there was a huge pulsing vein in her forehead, that looked ready to explode.

“I understand this isn’t what you want, but its happening. I will forget about your threat this time, but don’t let it happen again or you’ll be punished. You can pack your belongings, I will have one of my men drive you back to your territory.” I said sternly, with a pointed look.

“I can’t believe you would choose someone like her over me. She doesn’t even know who the hell she is. She could be an Omegas for all you know.” Heather said angrily, while standing from her chair.

“First of, I told you this has nothing to do with Jessica and secondly, if my mate was an Omegas, that wouldn’t bother me one bit.” I replied, in a calm but serious tone.

Heather stormed out of my office and slammed the door on the way, causing a picture frame to fall on the ground and shatter. I let out a relieved sigh, when she was gone.

I mind-linked one of my warriors and asked him to drive Heather home. I also asked, for him to keep an eye on her. She’s pretty upset and goddess knows what she could do in such a state.

I was going over some of the documents that needed my attention, when my phone rang.

“Good morning, Alpha Colton speaking.” I picked up and greeted.

“Good morning, Alpha. This is Alpha Peter of the Zodiac pack. I got your message and was just returning your call.” I heard Alpha Peter voice. He’s an ally of mine, we often help each other out. He’s always been loyal and trustworthy.

“A yes, Alpha Peter. Thanks for calling me back. I was hoping you would be able to help me with something. Do you know of a witch named Bethany, that resided on the Cold Stone Pack territory at some point?” I asked, with a hopeful tone.

“Yes, she was mated to Alpha Ryan’s Beta, Carl. I heard, Alpha Ryan executed his Beta approximately 6 months ago for treason. I don’t know all the details, but supposedly Beth was locked up in the dungeon for her involvement. I don’t know if she’s still alive or dead.” Alpha Peter said.

“Do you know, if they had any kids?” I asked curiously. I knew Alpha Peter would likely have answers, his territory borders the Cold Stone Pack, so they often hear about each others pack business.

“Yes they had a daughter, she would probably be around 19 now. She went missing, while everything was going on. She’s a pretty rare hybrid, given her mother was a witch and her father a Beta Werewolf. I think Alpha Ryan was trying to take her as his chosen mate and her parents were against it. That’s what I’ve heard anyway, I can’t say for sure. Why do you asked?” Alpha Peter asked curiously.

“I’ve come across, who I think is Beth’s daughter, her names Jessica. She’s staying on my territory at the moment. We think, Beth casted a spell on her, erasing her memories and disguising her scent. I’m trying to find Beth, so we can hopefully break the spell and she can get her memory back.” I replied.

“How important is this to you? I mean, she’s just a girl, you know if you go digging for dirt on someone else’s territory, it could start a war.” Alpha Peter asked. I frowned at his words, it’s to late for that war is already coming, I can feel it.

“It’s very important. Plus, Alpha Ryan knows that I have Jessica. War is coming, whether I want it or not.” I replied truthfully.

“You know I’m your ally, I’ll back you no matter what happens. If this is important to you, let me make some inquiries. I have a few contacts within his pack, I should be able to find out if Beth is still alive and if so, where on the territory he’s holding her.” Alpha Peter said.

“Thank you. I really appreciate your help with the matter and you know that I’ll return the favour.” I replied.

“I know, I’ll be in touch Alpha Colton.” Alpha Peter said, before the line disconnected.

I let out a sigh, it’s looking like Jess is Beth’s daughter, everything seems to be matching up. If that’s the case, her father is dead and who know about her mother. How do I break the news to her?

I’ll wait until I hear back from Alpha Peter, hopeful Beth is still alive and we can rescue her.

I was brought out of my thoughts, when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in” I said and the door opened.

Josh came walking in and took a seat in front of me. He actually looked like he was in a good mood.

“Hey, how are you holding up?” I asked, with a frown.

“Good, Sam took everything better than expected. She’s going to stay here with me.” He said and I could hear excitement in his tone. I don’t know what the moon goddess was thinking, when it came to Josh’s mate, but I’m sure happy it worked out for him in the end.

“That’s good to hear. I’m glad it worked out, Sam is perfect for you. I can’t believe she ended up being your second chance mate.” I said, while shaking my head in disbelief.

“I know, me neither.” He replied, with a grin on his face.

“Where’s Sam now?“ I asked curiously.

“Oh, she’s with Jess and Tyler. Tyler asked Jess, if she wanted to learn some self defence moves and Sam decided to tag along. I think Tyler has a crush on Jess.” He said and I didn’t miss the mischievous glint in his eyes. I knew he was pushing my buttons and it worked. I was fuming at the thought of Tyler being up close and personal with Jess, while showing her moves. I should be teaching her, not him.

“I have some things to discuss with you. Can you please stop trying to piss me off.” I spat out.

“Sorry Alpha, I wasn’t trying to piss you off. I thought you chose Heather, so you shouldn’t care who shows interest in Jess.” He replied, with an innocent look but I could see right through his act.

“I sent Heather home today and broke the deal. She won’t be my Chosen Mate or Luna.” I said and he had a surprise look on his face.

“Wow, Thank goddess. She was a horrible human being. Does this mean, you’re accepting the bond you have with Jess?” He asked, with a hopeful tone.

“I don’t know if she’s my mate, but I do have feelings for her. I’ll admit that. It’s not fair to drag Heather along, knowing I could never be romantically involved with her.” I replied and Josh shook his head in disbelief.

“Well, I still think you’re insane for not thinking Jess is your mate, but at least you got rid of Heather. Now you can focus your attention on Jess.” He replied.

“Well, that’s going to have to wait. I have some bad news, that’s probably going to crush her. I just got off the phone with Alpha Peter and he told me that Beth was mated to Alpha Ryan’s Beta. Alpha Ryan killed his Beta 6 months ago for treason and possible has Beth locked up in the dungeon. I think Beth is Jessica’s mom, meaning her dad is dead.” I said, with a concerned frown. Josh also looked concerned with the news.

“What are we going to do?” He asked.

“Alpha Peter’s making inquiries for me. If Beth is alive, we need to get her out of there. I’m going to wait until I hear back from Alpha Peter, before breaking the news to Jess.” I replied.

“She’s going to be upset when she finds out.” Josh said and I let out a frustrated sigh. I know she’s going to be upset, but she needs to know the truth.

“I know, let’s go find the girls.” I replied and stood from my desk.

I’ll do everything in my power to rescue Beth, if she’s still alive. Maybe then, Jess while get the answers she’s looking for and have some closure.
