The Mysterious Luna -
Chapter 70
Alpha Colton POV
My eyes stayed glued on Alpha Philip’s, just seeing him causing my b***d to boil. I waited patiently for him to get close enough, before making a move. He still hadn’t sensed us and I could see the smug look on his face, thinking he was taking us by surprise.
‘Now!’ I mind-linked my men, when Alpha Philip’s stood exactly where I wanted him.
I stepped out from behind the bushes revealing myself to him. He froze in shock when he saw me and it was clear he wasn’t expecting it. His eyes darted around nervously, as he noticed all my men stepping out from the bushes and circling them. I didn’t miss the panicked look on his face and I internally smirked in satisfaction.
“Did you really think you could take us by surprise?” I spat out, the distaste for the man clear in my voice. He was quick to hide the panic in his face and replace it with a cocky smirk.
In my peripheral vision, I could see Jess was now standing beside me. Alpha Philip’s eyes turned towards her and his smirked grew wider, as he sized her up.
“So this is the little witch that caused all this trouble.” Alpha Philip’s taunted.
“Don’t talk about my mate.Leave my territory now, or die.” I growled but to be honestly, I don’t think I would let him leave at this point, even if he agreed to. I wanted to personally kill him.
“I’m not going anywhere, not until you and your w***e are dead.” He sneered.
“Very well. I, Alpha Colton of the Fort Night Pack, challenge you, Alpha Philip’s to fight.” I replied in a calm voice, but let my powerful aura swirl around us. I saw fear cross his features, but he quickly hid it.
“What’s wrong? Do you not have any wolfbane this time?” I taunted and he glared at me.
“I don’t trust that you would fight fair.” He replied, but the fear was clear in his voice. He didn’t want to fight one on one, because he knew he didn’t stand a chance.
“Why wouldn’t I? Because you didn’t last time? Not everyone’s a coward like you.” I replied and knew I had struck a nerve. His eyes darted around, clearly looking for any possible escape route.
‘Some of his warriors eyes are glossed over, they’re mind-linking.’ Josh warned through mind-link.
‘I know, be ready. I highly doubt he’ll fight me one on one, but it was worth a shot.’ I replied, while my eyes stayed glued on Alpha Philip. I was watching his every move and I certainly didn’t trust the man.
“ATTACK!!!” Alpha Philip’s shouted, before his warriors shifted into their wolves and leaped towards mine.
My men knew what to do and quickly followed suit. They clashed with his and the gruesome sounds of growls, whimpers and snarls filled the air.
I saw Alpha Philip’s retreating behind his men and I stalked towards him, not willing to let him out of my sight. He knew that if he fought fairly against me, he wouldn’t stand a chance.
From the corner of my eye, I saw a brown flaw and turned just in time to dodge one of his wolves that lunged at me. I quickly jumped on his back and latched my teeth into his neck, before biting down so hard, I heard bone crunch. I didn’t even bother watching his lifeless body hit the ground. My eyes were busy searching the battle for Alpha Philip’s.
As soon as I spotted him, I growled. He was running back the way he came, trying to leave my territory. What a coward, I thought to myself. His men were fighting his war, while he tried to save his own a*s. He’s not making it of my land alive, that I promise.
I made my way through the battle field, killing as many of his warriors as I could along the way.
I quickly glanced back to check on Jess and I wasn’t surprised to see her dominating the battle with my men. She looked more powerful then I had ever seen her and I felt pride coursing through me. I pulled my thoughts back and focus on the task at hand. I wasn’t about to let Alpha Philip’s leave.
When I finally reached the border, I had gained on him. I was only 20 feet away, when I growled viciously, causing him to abruptly stop and turn towards me.
He growled back, but I could smell the fear radiating from him. He didn’t stand a chance against me in fair fight and he knew it.
I slowly stalked towards him, my eyes never leaving his. He stayed rooted in his spot, while watching me carefully.
When I got within five feet, he lunged at me but I predicted the move and quickly side stepped his attack. He slid past me on the ground and I turned my snoot bitting into his hind leg.
He yelped in pain, as his jaw snapped at me head trying to latched into me. I let go and saw him trying to recompose himself, but I didn’t miss the limp I caused him.
Within a minute, he lunged at me again and I dodged it. I could see the frustration in his features as his attacks continued to fail.
Before he could recover, I lunged at him and sunk my teeth into his back. I heard a loud yelp, as he fell to the ground.
He struggled beneath me and managed to throw me off. He was definitely a coward, but still had the strength of an alpha. He wasn’t a match for me though. Now that Jess and I were fully mated, I noticed my strength had increased, I’m much more powerful.
He quickly spun around and bit down on my shoulder. I felt pain but it only fuelled my anger, this a*****e is not going to win this fight. I thought to myself, as I threw my body back into a tree, knocking the wind out of him and successfully making him release me.
I turned around and growled viciously in his face. I swear I heard a whimper, before I bit into his throat and swiftly ripped it out. I watched his lifeless body fall at my feet. I can’t even explain the relief and satisfaction that rushed through me. He’s finally dead and there’s one less enemy to worry about.
Now I need to go back and find my mate. I need to protect her and make sure she’s safe.

Bethany POV
The battle was intense, some were fighting in wolf form, while others fought as humans. Jess stayed in her human form with me, so that we could use our magic and help out.
I noticed one of our warriors was fighting against two of Alpha’s Philip’s wolves. I quickly turned to help him and froze one of his opponents. Because we trained the warriors using our magic, our guy knew exactly what was happening and didn’t waste anytime in killing one of the wolves he was fighting. Once the spell wore off, he was ready to fight the second wolf one on one. It didn’t take long before the second wolf also lost his life.
I turned around just in time, to see Jess throw one of the enemy wolves off one of our warriors. The wolf she threw, landed 50 feet away and hit a tree so hard, it knocked him unconscious. I felt proud of Jess, she’s one hell of a power house. She seems even more powerful now that’s she’s fully mated. I think her abilities even surpass mine now.
I was brought out of my thoughts, when I sensed a powerful presence behind me and quickly turned around to find Gretchen standing 20 feet away. A bright white light surrounded her and her eyes were locked on me. My heart rate increased when I saw her. It’s been so long and so many emotions were swirling in me. I felt angry, but sad all at the same time. How could she fight against her own b***d? I wondered.
“Cousin, it’s been a while.” Gretchen greeted, but I didn’t miss the venom in her voice.
“Why are you doing this? I’m your family.” I asked, unable to hide my anger and sadness.
“I don’t have any family, you took everything away from me, including my home. You don’t deserve that title.” She spat out angrily.
“Leave now, or you’ll end up dead like the rest of Alpha Philip’s men.” I warned, while motioned to all the dead warriors covering the ground. Gretchen laughed, but it was a sinister laugh that made a shiver rundown my spine. The woman was definitely still insane. The only emotions I could see in her eyes, were anger and hatred.
All of a sudden, I watched her raise her hands towards me. I felt a strong force hit me, before I flew back 20 feet. My body only stopped when it collided with a tree.
I hit it with so much force that I saw stars and the wind was knocked out of my lungs. Before I could recover, Gretchen lifted me in the air by my throat using her magic. I couldn’t breath. I clutched my hands around my neck, trying to remove whatever was cutting off my breathing, but there was nothing there.
I watched as Gretchen slowly glided towards me, with a sadistic smirk on her face. She really seemed to be enjoying my pain.
“Your weak, Cousin. You don’t stand a chance against me. I’m going to enjoy watching you take your last breath.” She sneered, as she now stood directly in front of me.
Darkness started to invade my vision and I knew it wouldn’t be long before I fell unconscious. My face must be purple by now from the lack of oxygen.
“Release her!” I heard Jess shout, before Gretchen went flying 10 feet away and hit a tree. She hit is so hard, it crack in half.
The action caused Gretchen to release the hold she had on my throat and I fell to the ground gasping for air.
“Mom, are you ok?” Jess asked, while running towards me and could hear the concern in her voice. I looked up at her and nodded my head, since I was still trying to catch my breath.
“So you’re the daughter?” Gretchen taunted, while standing from the ground and wiping the dirt off her dress.
“I am and I’m the Luna of this pack.” Jess announced and I could feel her powerful aura swirling in the air around us.
“Tell me something Luna, where’s your mate?” Gretchen asked, with a sinister smirk on her face.
I could see Jess’s eyes nervously darting around the forest in search of her mate and I’m not going to lie, I was also worried. Gretchen had successfully distracted us with her question.
“You’re lucky your daughter saved you, Cousin. Next time you won’t be so lucky.” Gretchen snarled, before disappearing in thin air.
“s**t, it was a distraction.” Jess cursed, when she saw that Gretchen was gone.
“I should of know better. I would have felt his pain if something happened to Colton.” Jess said, while shaking her head in frustration.
The fight was now over and our warriors were helping out the injured. Several of Alpha Philip’s men surrendered and where taking into custody.
I was helping one of the injured warriors, when I heard an agonizing scream come from Jess. My eyes darted around frantically looking for her, when they finally found her. She was on her knees, buckled over in pain, with her hands clutching her chest.
I ran towards her, while panic coursed through me. What the hell is going on? I wondered. Did Gretchen do something to her?
“What’s happening?” I asked in a panic tone, while kneeling next to Jess and gripping both her shoulders.
“S-something h-happened to C-Colton. I-It f-felt like my h-heart was b-being ripped o-out.” She cried out painfully, while tears flooded her eyes.
I glanced around and noticed that all of the warriors were clutching their chests in pain. This can’t be happened, the only reason everyone would feel pain, is if they lost their Alpha.
