"Are

you okay?!" Samuel shouted. "I'm fine "

Kiarra sat up stunned. She wasn't hurt though her head was throbbing with a terribly dull ache. But she was left shocked by the fact that Judah had attacked her. Judah her body guard. The same guard that had helped her twice and even escorted her to the airport. She knew those brown eyes were familiar under the mask. But why did Judah want to kill her? A chill ran through her to know that he was always so close to her, watching her. She could have lost her life at any moment. She was still trying to wrap her head around it; her mind trying to process it all. Kiarra expected to be found but not an attempt to take her life and it was unsettling to think it was someone so close to her. Unless this was something else. Too much was happening.

"Anastasia!" Samuel shouted trying to get her attention as she sat there bewildered by what had just happened.

Samuel looked at her worriedly and she smiled at him surprised. She guessed their were now two surprises in one day. She expected concern but he looked truly worried. She really had worn him down.

"Sammy I'm fine." she told him hoping to convince the large angry mass kneeling before her.

He checked to see if she had any injuries and she swatted him away to leave her be to which he deeply frowned.

"Who the hell was that?!"

"A lycan body guard." she replied nonchalantly.

"Why the hell would a lycan bodyguard be trying to kill you?"

"I don't know but I need to find out before he actually does" she grunted standing up to brush off the dirt and dead leaves clinging to her.

She finally let Zion in telling him she was fine and they decided it was best to head back. Samuel pressured her not to go after Judah, that they would do it later especially now that he was bleeding. They weren't sure if he had help and couldn't risk him succeeding. They slowly headed back on high alert and though she didn't admit it she was deeply worried. Things have gotten chaotic. After a moment of walking in silence Kiarra turned to Samuel teasingly.

"You looked so worried about me back there"

"Naturally, I'm the one that's going to never hear the end of it if anything happened to you." he held his head straight, with his usual serious expression but she wasn't buying it.

"I'm rubbing off on you aren't I?" she lightly bumped him.

"I guess you are princess"

She halted to a stop, fear gripping her and stared at him wide eyed. He only simply looked back at her and she felt her heart in throat. He had heard Judah. Samuel watched her panic stricken expression. He was just as shocked too but it did make sense. "Samuel you can't tell Zion" she pleaded.

"You want me to lie to my brother about your identity?! Don't you think that's a stretch Anastasia which isn't your real name. The daughter of King Reviere?!" he said unbelievably.

" 'Keep your voice down! I just need some time before I explain it to him. I'm planning on letting him know after Christmas."

"You're lucky I'm not telling him right now! Why not before Christmas?!" he growled.

"Because I want to at least celebrate Christmas with him"

He folded his arms and scowled at her.

"I can understand in the beginning but after you got to know us and him you could have trusted us with that information especially him of all people. So why are you still holding on to this secret?" she didn't answer and he shouted at her." Why?!" "Everything just got perfect and I just couldn't bring myself to say anything." she said softly feeling defeated.

He laughed cruelly and looked away from her.

"Aint this some shit. This is serious stuff"

"I know. So can please not say anything and at least let me tell him myself?" she pleaded with him

"So now you have one brother covering for the lie your telling the other who is your mate." his tone was derisive.

She felt the guilt eat away at her.

"I'll keep your secret for now." he said it as if it was the most demeaning thing he had to do and she felt the worst.

They walked in silence and when they were almost back he looked over at her and grumbled.

"I'm friends with a princess. Who would've thought."

"We're friends?"

"Hypothetically speaking"

She smiled faintly and asked him the question that had been burning in her throat.

"How do you think he'll react?"

Samuel blew out a breath. He had no answer for her. Instead he just left it hanging between them and that was what worried her. How would he react?

Zion and Daniel were waiting for her by the house and she could see the immense relief cross his features the moment they came out of the forest.

He assessed her thoroughly looking her over and she tried not to give in to the need to run to him and create a scene. There was something else in his expression but she couldn't read it. She decided to wait until they were alone. She had already told him a million times that she was fine and she knew Samuel probably had too. Her confession to Samuel was eating away at her in his presence. She felt terrible standing there with the two of them especially when they called her Anastasia. "Why would a lycan be trying to kill you?" Daniel started right off the bat folding his large arms.

"I have no idea. Maybe it's something to do with the missing princess? But whoever it was I'm clearly their target" Kiarra responded.

"Do you know him?" he asked angrily.

"His name is Judah. He's a palace guard." she continued in detail as they looked at her confused and taken a back. "He guards the princess and the palace. They have different shifts so they alternate. But it's hard to believe it's him because they tend to follow very strict guidelines."

"Well he is very far way from the palace." Daniel puts in mater of factly "Is it possible that they might be trying to take you out in relation to the king's missing daughter?"

These were all questions she was trying to answer herself and she shot him a frustrated look.

"It is possible. I don't know." she nodded to him.

"Do you know of any other reason?"

"No, I barely ever interacted with him'

"Whatever it is lycans attacking lycans isn't good" Samuel put in.

"It means something is happening. Someone is clearly working hard and I need to find out who it is before it's too late. I have to call in and report this." Kiarra rounded up.

Zion didn't want her to leave but he made her go. She noticed he was very quiet and a bit distant. Vivienne finally answered her phone and she made sure she was far out of their hearing range before she dived in. The brothers were still busy talking among themselves.

"Are you on your way back?" she chirpily answered.

"Why did my lycan bodyguard just try to kill me?!" Kiarra angrily whispered into the phone.

"What are you talking about? That doesn't make any sense" Vivienne replied calmly.

"That's exactly what I'm thinking. I just got shot at and fought with Judah. He was clearly sent here to kill me. Though I am positive I left him at the airport. So I need to know why the guard who has been nice to me twice in a row is now out to kill me?" Vivienne sat up straight on full alert. With the warning from the king earlier if someone tried to kill her and to make it worse succeeded it would all fall on her head. "One second."

She hurried to check and came back.

"Kiarra listen to me. You need to come home. Tell your mate bye-bye and jump on the first plane home. We cannot protect you from here, you need to be with us. We need to make sure you're okay. You are the next to the throne."

"I can take care of myself and coming home will not solve the fact that someone wants me dead! He was always close and if we're being honest I'm much safer here than anywhere. I'd be there with who knows who waiting to shoot me in the back!"

"I'm seeing here where Judah has been expertly shifted for two weeks now but there isn't any position here for him. Whoever did this is higher up and has access to these or found their way in. If they have the scheduling times for guards then we have a serious breach"

"What do we know about him?" she cut in angrily.

"Well Judah has the regular bio just like everyone else. There is nothing out of place. Then again nothing could be or else he wouldn't be here. Go through again and detail to me everything that happened. From the beginning to the end."

Kiarra went into detail going over everything again.

"I'm just wondering why he didn't kill me all those times before. Why now?"

Especially now that she was mated.

"Maybe it would make him less suspicious. He is shown to still be here. Kiarra this is serious and even more serious than you and I might fear. If the news is out you also have to worry about threats from vampires and who knows what else. You're an open target if you are found and the easiest way to your father."

"I will always be an open target but no one would dare lay a finger against me. What I need to know is why are lycans trying to kill me and who would dare to conspire such an evil thing?"

"You would put your mate's life in jeopardy?"

Kiarra rolled her eyes and gritted her teeth irritatedly.

"Everyone already knows I'm mated to him. If I leave he could be harmed to be used to get to me. I would rather stay here and fight it out."

"Alright have it your way." Vivienne ceded. "I will find out and let you know anything I dig up."

She might sound calm but Vivienne was boiling.

Kiarra headed back over to find Zion out by the front waiting for her. His face was rigid. With everything that was happening she just needed the comfort of her mate.

"Is there anything on him?"

"Sadly no. She's just as puzzled as I am"

"Well everyone is on high alert just in case he comes back but I think you should give the patrol duty a break for now it's too high risk and it's clear you are the target. Samuel has personally volunteered to follow you around." "I agree"

She couldn't argue with him on that. He paused for a moment and then cursed.

"Fucking Christ. Daniel needs me. I have to go but Samuel is inside waiting for you." he said with his face set in annoyance.

"Okay. I think I'm going to ask Lisa to help me unpack, it will keep me busy. I'll see you here tonight " her words died out in her throat as he was already leaving.

"Zion" she called standing there but he ignored her and left her there giving her the cold shoulder.

He didn't kiss her, he hadn't touched her and everything felt cold. His green eyes gave nothing away and she felt like they were strangers. Like they were back to square one. He had brushed her to the side like she was nothing.
