The Princess’s Broken Alpha -
Chapter 68
She was so close Zion could reach out his hands and touch her. He could finally breathe in her scent and hear her voice. He felt like a dehydrated man that was placed before water he couldn't drink. He was so close, so close. It was maddening. He needed her. He had so much he wanted to say but more than anything he so wanted to desperately hold her. He wanted to run his fingers along the exposed skin of her thigh all the way up. He unconsciously checked her over with his eyes again in desperation to see if she was fine but even with that he wasn't content. Still seeing her was heaven.
Kiarra noted that he was taking her in, down to every detail.
"I'm not afraid to die especially when it comes to you" he told her honestly losing himself in her hazel eyes.
"You attend my ball and attempt to insult me. And you hold steadfast despite the opportunity to correct yourself and beg for forgiveness. This is a very serious accusation and one that I do not take lightly," Kiarra said evenly.
This time when she released her power it knocked the breath out of him, it was way more intense. She was crippling him with her aura and he was fighting hard not to fold. He could feel a light sweat break out on his neck as pain radiated through him. The guests were shifting in anxiety, afraid to make even the slightest move or sound to anger the princess. Some were even holding their breaths. They didn't in any way want to be on the receiving end of her wrath.
There was loud thud as Samuel fell to his knees beside Zion grunting hard in pain. He suddenly received her stare as she tore her eyes away from Zion. Samuel couldn't believe he was on the receiving of this as well. She was definitely strong. The Moon Goddess help them.
A hint of white appeared in her side vision as her aunt stepped forward.
"This is a serious offence not only to you but to the royal family and will be dealt with accordingly. We do not tolerate delusional wolves going around making such grotesque accusations." Vivienne adds in with a high note of concern in her voice.
"Did I not ask for silence?" Kiarra's voice was crystal clear as if admonishing a child and Vivienne who always seemed like she was made out of steel and unshakeable with her cool and biting persona bristled from Kiarra's reprimand. She pressed her lips together in a hard thin line. Everyone was impressed with her dealing with her aunt in such a manner.
Zion was threading carefully, she seemed colder than he was expecting. There was no show of emotion neither in her eyes or face and he craved for her to even have a glint in her for him. He was hurting from this.
"I know you must be upset with me. You have every right to be but I'm just asking to talk with you privately." Zion pleaded.
He just needed a chance to try and fix this.
"Why would I be upset with you?"
Okay so she was continuing with this Zion thought. She was playing as if she didn't know him. She was denying him, erased him from her life. He was gutted and though it pained him he felt this was maybe her way to get back at him. She would take him back once he apologized. She loved him and he loved her and he knew there was nothing they couldn't overcome.
"Because I should have never let you leave with him"
And some other things but he didn't want to blurt everything out to her guests.
Kiarra looked behind her surprised, the bejewelled dress and her jewellry sparkling under the lights. He had looked at Castor. Castor was now the center of attention. He had hoped Kiarra would have gotten rid of him. Castor couldn't believe he had actually come back to claim what was his. He wanted to laugh at his gall. It was a losing battle and the alpha didn't seem to understand that the better man had won.
Castor shook his head to look back at Kiarra.
"I've never met him in my life. Just heard about him that's all. Alpha Zion is well known because of his condition."
Zion scoffed, throwing him a cold look. Of course he would join in with her.
"I don't know why he would bring my name into this. Whatever exactly this is Ki"
Everyone bleieved Castor and Kiarra, they believed Zion to be crazy or trying a stupid way to worm his way to the Princess that threatened his life. Castor's use of a nickname bristled Zion as well as the way he was looking at her. He could see through his game and he had let her go in his hands. Zion leaned to the side to shoot Castor a murderous glare
"You played your little cards right didn't you?! But if you were even half of what she wanted she wouldn't have ran away from you, she wouldn't have needed to keep a ball." Zion indicated around the room " She didn't need one to choose me. I may be in a wheelchair but you're even more pathetic than me."
Kiarra saw the anger Castor was trying to contain. She knew him long enough to pick up on certain subtle nuances. Castor was furious, he was fighting not to rip his throat out in front of everyone but he couldn't show his true colours here. He swore he would slowly kill him one day. Instead he opted for a lesser approach.
"He's delusional" he mentioned to Kiarra nonchalantly as if Zion was simply crazy.
Kiarra was ready to get back to her ball. She indicated to the guards who were approching.
"Whatever you're trying here, it's not working. I don't know you and I've never met you. This is ridiculous. Throw them out."
"Just here me out please. Just give me a chance, I know I messed up as your mate"
"I'm not your mate. I don't even feel anything for you." She cut him short icily.
The guards were approaching to escort them out and Zion brushed off the man's hand.
"Do not deny me, not in front of them." he wouldn't let her go " Not like this. Tell me I don't mean something to you."
"You mean absolutely nothing to me."
The words cut through like a knife and he couldn't believe she was rejecting him.
She turned her back on him dismissing him, all he saw was her brown hair as they left the room.
