The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning By Max Charming chapter 431
“I’ll never be able to get their attention even if I die. He, on the other hand, didn’t have to lift a finger to
get our father’s affection,” Ethan said. Madelyn did not know what to say.
She had always thought that Ethan stood at the top of Ventropolis and was untouchable. However, no one knew he had a broken family, just like her. Perhaps that was
why they were so desperate to form a complete family of their own, because of how unfortunate their
lives were, “God works in mysterious ways, it seems.
He gave you financial status, but he took away other things, too. Honestly, we’re still fortunate compared to most people,” Ethan mused. Madelyn did not think she was a greedy person. All she wanted was freedom and the right to make her own choices.
Ethan ran his hand through his curly hair and said, “You’re all I have left, Madelyn. You’ll still stay by my side, won’t you?” Madelyn felt pressured by the weight of Ethan’s words. In reality, he was not alone and had many people by his side. Besides, Madelyn also knew that Ethan had met Donna during his darkest times and that Donna was the one who had pulled Ethan out of the abyss.
Madelyn understood Ethan. She knew even though Donna had betrayed him in the past, he would
never let her go. Donna was not just a thing of the past to Ethan, and the relationship they had was
irreplaceable. When Donna left, Ethan reverted back to his past behavior. All Madelyn had done was
coincidentally appear just as he was about to end his life.
She understood that the relationship they had could not be interfered with. Now that Donna was back,
Madelyn felt like an outsider and a third wheel. Madelyn just smiled and stayed silent. She trusted that
Ethan still loved her, yet she knew he could not let go of Donna.
Madelyn looked into his eyes and felt like she was being drawn into them. She stared at him quietly at
first, but she could not bear it and said to him, “There are so many fish in the sea, you know. I’m not
the only one you have left. Everything’s gonna be okay.”
Ethan was at a loss for words. Madelyn saw Ethan suppressing his anger and said, “Let’s not eat the
pastina. It’s already gone cold.”
Ethan agreed, “Sure.”
Deep down, they both knew that their relationship was destined to fail, even though they never openly
acknowledged it. Donna was a ticking time bomb that would always come between them. Madelyn
seemed to have sensed this as well.
As for Madelyn, she could only take things one step at a time.
One of the Jent family members had come to check on her and had already left.
In the study of the Southern Haven Villas, Hayson was shouting in rage, “What’s this about Madelyn’s
hysterectomy? How long have you been keeping this from me?”
Zach lowered his head and apologized, “I’m sorry, Father.”
There was nothing else he could say.
As Hayson stared at the person before him, he was forced to swallow his anger. He shut his eyes and
toyed with the bracelet in his hand before asking, “Who else knows about this besides you?”
Zach answered, “Ethan Arnold.”
