Everyone's faces were drained of color. Fear etched into their features at the mere mention of Lord Kane.

Kane's fearsome reputation as the lord of the underground was well known in Avesburgh, and crossing him was a sure path to a nightmarish end.

"W-We didn't do anything to anger Lord Kane." Ruth, Sasha, and the other women were trembling, barely holding back their tears.

Kane's reputation was so fearsome that just hearing his name sent everyone into a panic. The terror in the room made it clear what would happen when he actually arrived.

"Yeah! Who would be foolish enough to cross Lord Kane?"

"I swear I didn't!"

Everyone scrambled to defend themselves.

Suddenly, Sasha's eyes locked onto Felix, and she stormed over to him. "It's you, isn't it? You're always lurking around and swindling people. You must be the one who crossed Lord Kane."

Felix frowned. He had never even heard of this person. "No. It wasn't me."

The others in the room were all close friends who knew each other well, which only made Sasha more convinced that Felix was the culprit. Besides, she saw this as the perfect chance to shift the blame onto him and resolve everything once and for all.

If she succeeded, she could regain control over her engagement, and their family could keep the 25 million dollars.

"Humph! Still trying to deny it? You had the nerve to get someone to impersonate the richest man's daughter. What else wouldn't you do? You must have done something to offend Lord Kane. It has to be you!" Ruth chimed in.

"Exactly! Felix, own up to it if you're a real man. It's cowardly to throw us under the bus like this!"

Everyone's voices blended into a frantic chorus.

Felix closed his eyes to block them out. He had no idea who Kane was, so there was no way he could have crossed him. He had no intention of getting involved in this mess-unless, of course, Sasha was the one Kane was after. Otherwise, he'd have no way to explain himself to Warren.

"What do we do? What are we supposed to do? Lord Kane could be here any minute."

The group's panic swelled as the seconds ticked by. Sasha and Ruth finally broke down in tears. They had tried calling for help earlier, only to find that all their phones had lost signal. Someone` obviously had tampered with the network to keep them from contacting the authorities.

Suddenly, a booming voice rang out, "Lord Kane has arrived! Silence, everyone!"

The private room's door had opened at some point, and around a dozen figures in matching black suits filed in.

Sasha and the others huddled together, their legs trembling uncontrollably. They were too terrified to speak a word.

Moments later, three more figures entered the room. The man in the center was none other than Kane himself. His gaze was sharp and penetrating, and no one dared to meet his eyes. His presence was so intense that it seemed to freeze the air in the room even before he uttered a single word.

"Who is Felix Zeller?"

Sasha and the others turned toward Felix, who was still sitting on the couch with his eyes closed,

Felix opened his eyes at the sound of his name and looked over. "I'm Felix Zeller. What do you want?"

Kane laughed. "It seems young people these days don't know their place. You're the first in Avesburgh who dared to speak to me like that."

He waved his hand and added, "Everyone else, get out!"

Sasha and the others didn't need to be told twice. They bolted from the room. Only after they were safely outside did they finally sigh in relief.

"Has Felix lost his mind? How dare he provoke Lord Kane? Ruth asked.

Sasha burst into laughter. "It's perfect! I'm finally free. Even if my dad finds out, he won't be mad. After all, it's Lord Kane who's after Felix. Finally, that damned guy is going to disappear." Chapter
