Just as Ernest finished speaking, a loud, grumbling voice came from inside the room.

"Ernest! Who are you calling an old man?"

The voice sounded robust, hardly like that of a sick person. Ernest put on an embarrassed smile. The man was, after all, his old superior. His rebukes were warranted.

As Felix passed Nala, he ignored her entirely. However, he had already picked up on something-the relationship between Lionel and Nala wasn't an ordinary one. Given the way Ernest spoke to her, they might even be family.

"If Ernest hadn't brought you, I wouldn't even let you set foot inside this door, Felix!" Nala's gaze was impassive, but 1. Jain was palpable.

She wasn't one to be swayed by emotions, but the incident with the Walsh family had infuriated her. Although the agreement with the Walsh family still stood, it grated on her that someone she had labeled as useless dared flaunt himself in her presence.

Before Ernest could finish, Lionel waved his hand.

"Since his name is Felix Zeller, there's no need for introductions. I've heard about the orphanage incident. He's a worthy man, a true Dragonian patriot." Then, Lionel turned to Felix. "Regardless of your current level of medical skill, because of what you've done, I'm willing to let you examine me."

Lionel was a man of absolute character who spared no energy on superfluous words.

While Felix went to wash his hands, Lionel gave Ernest a stern look.

"Everyone faces death eventually. Stop running around trying to fix me up. I'm blessed enough to have lived to this age."

Ernest shot him a wry smile. "As long as there's a glimmer of hope, do you think I would ever give up?"

Beside him, Isaac's gaze was equally resolute. Though he said nothing, his determination was unmistakable.

"Felix is the last person I'll see. Unless you find Dr. Morris, I won't meet with anyone else. That's an order."

The moment he uttered the word "order", Ernest and Isaac had no choice but to comply. Age didn't seem to have mellowed Lionel's temperament.

Nala had, of course, followed them inside. Seeing Felix sit beside Lionel to feel his pulse, she sneered internally.

It was quite the act. In her opinion, he was at the level of a senior physician at best, yet he thought he could diagnose Lionel's condition. Even the esteemed Silas had been stumped.

Their collective conclusion was that, unless a miracle happened, only Gerald or Lemuel Morris could help. Lemuel was th hest-ranking doctor in Dragonia at the moment. Anyone else would simply be wasting me.

Even after ten minutes, Lionel showed no signs of impatience. He kept his eyes on Felix, watching his expressions shift, but said nothing.

Nala, however, was growing exasperated. Surely there was a limit to his pretense.

Just as she was about to say something, Felix raised his hand and said, "I can cure you, My Lord."
