"Yes. Let's start dating after you come back from Medic's Haven," Xena said.

Felix stood there stunned for a long moment before asking, "Are you serious? What about your grandfather?"

"He's given us his blessing and said he won't interfere anymore. I'm not sure exactly what changed his mind, but he's approved."

Felix could barely contain his excitement. His feelings for Xena were genuine. And now that he had a chance to cure Madam Spring's poison without dying in the process, everything seemed perfect.

Without thinking, he swept Xena up in his arms and spun her around. She did not resist his actions either.

Their car wound up a spiraling mountain road. They had not seen another vehicle for hours on the way.

"This is the private road to Medic's Haven. They built it themselves, so it's usually empty," Edmund explained.

Felix kept staring out the window as he spoke, "Mr. Fairfax, we're far from civilization now. Why don't you tell me what's really going on? I'm only here because of your connection to Xena. Otherwise, you wouldn't have this chance at all."

Edmund's brow furrowed, anger flashing in his eyes. "What do you mean by that? Are you implying that I mean you harm? Like you said, if Lady Summers hadn't asked, why would I bother with such a thankless task?"

Felix turned slowly, his calm gaze making Edmund lean back unconsciously. "Are you sure about that? Or are you worried about our driver?"

For some reason, Edmund fell silent. A few minutes passed before he shook his head. Don't overthink it. I know you're under a lot of stress after what happened, but I've given both you and Lady Summers my word. What else are you worried about?"

Felix said nothing more and turned back to the window. He had given Edmund his chance. "There's Medic's Haven," Edmund pointed out an hour later as they started their descent. Felix had seen it before, though he had not paid much attention then because of Averill's constant chatter. Looking at it now, he had to admit it was impressive.

The valley below was filled with classical architecture spread across a vast area. That was where Medic's Haven was. As it was surrounded by massive wooden barriers, it was impossible for ordinary people to stumble in, even if they had gotten close by accident. Finally, they stopped at the only entrance. Over a dozen guards stood watch, each radiating power at the Ultimate Mortal Realm level. It was enough to scare even a Martial Saint. 1
