Chapter 617
"I have a bad feeling about this!" Uzziah, the strongest among them, immediately sensed the ominous presence spreading through the air.
Thaddeus tried to stay composed. He glanced around nervously as the tremors beneath their feet grew stronger. "Uzziah, could it just be an ordinary earthquake?"
As he asked, the intensity of the quake increased.
Titus narrowed his eyes, scanning their surroundings for any potential threats. "Could Polaris still have some hidden powerhouse alive?" he wondered, his muscles tensing as he prepared for a fight.
Suddenly, the training grounds split apart with an earth-shattering boom, sending debris flying. A massive hole appeared in the ground, and from within, a figure leaped out, landing near the barely standing Yates. "Well, well," the figure sneered. "After all these years, Polaris has really hit rock bottom. One kid almost wiped out your entire leadership. What a way to honor my brother's legacy!"
The newcomer was covered in a gray robe, their face obscured, and their voice was unnervingly raspy, like metal scraping against metal. Just hearing it sent chills down everyone's spines.
"Y-You're " Yates gasped, ignoring his injuries as his face twisted in shock.
"You fools don't deserve to know my name," the gray-robed figure snapped. "I'll kill this kid as repayment for a favor I owe my brother."
Without another word, they raised their right hand and struck toward Felix. Their arm, terrifyingly thin and bony, seemed more like a weapon of death than a limb.
A haunting chorus of wails and howls filled the air as crimson-eyed skulls began materializing in the attack's wake. Then, the skulls swarmed toward Felix, their glowing eyes locking onto him like predators closing in on prey.
"How is this possible?" Uzziah and Titus both exclaimed, their faces drained of color as they witnessed the terrifying attack.
From the sheer power of this single move, they could tell that the gray-robed individual- Saylor Larkin was on a level far beyond their own.
Then again, why would someone of his caliber be hidden within Polaris? If he had shown himself earlier, Polaris would have dominated all of Dragonia.
From his expressions and the terrifying display of power, Thaddeus realized Felix was doomed. No one could have predicted this outcome.
Chapter 617
Felix stood motionless, frozen under the oppressive presence of the skulls. Whether they were illusions or real, their existence paralyzed him. He felt the icy grip of death closing in, his body unable to move as the air around him grew colder and darker. Saylor's power was at least two major realms above Felix's, making resistance almost impossible. Yet despite the hopeless situation, Felix's expression was oddly calm-there was shock in his eyes, but no trace of fear or despair.
Saylor frowned, sensing something unusual. It made no sense for Felix to appear so composed in the face of certain death. Could he still have a trump card?
As if answering that very question, a vibrant purple umbrella suddenly appeared in front of Felix, spinning rapidly. A wave of invisible energy radiated outward, instantly dispelling the crimson skulls into nothingness. "Well, well..." a playful voice echoed in Felix's ears. "Looks like you owe me one now. This should be fun."
Felix did not need to look to see who it was because the umbrella alone gave it away-it was Mira, his senior apprentice. She loved rainy days and sunny summers because both were perfect weather for carrying an umbrella. "Mira, I didn't expect to see you here," Felix said as he turned to face her, his tone carrying both relief and recognition.
Standing before him, Mira was as he remembered-her long, cascading hair shimmered with hues of blue and violet, reaching down to her waist. She was not conventionally beautiful, but her chubby, round face had an endearing cuteness that grew more appealing over time.
