The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
With Husband 627
Chapter 627
Felix's interest was piqued. Truth be told, he didn't know much about his nine fellow apprentices. For instance, Averill had her own assassin organization, and Delilah was none other than the famous singer, Dreamscape. "Oh? Really? Then, tell me all about it."
Noah opened his mouth as if to speak but suddenly seemed to think better of it. He shook his head vigorously.
"No, no! I almost walked into a disaster! She's your fellow apprentice, and if you don't know about it, it's probably because she doesn't want you to know. If I blab, and she finds

out,
"Worse, she won't stop with me-she'll wipe out everyone connected to me. I'm talking everyone. Even the earthworms in my backyard won't escape her blade!"
Felix was dumbstruck. Was Eloise really that terrifying?
"Fine. If that's the case, I won't force you." He waved dismissively. "I'm just a guy trying to live a normal life. Well, now that I know this, my impression of the Elder's Council has fallen greatly.
"I'll let you off the hook this time, but go back and make this clear to them-don't bother me again. Especially with their silly rule about sending someone just one level above me. It's pointless."
The Elder's Council was truly pitiful. They hated Gerald with a passion but couldn't do anything to him. Finally, they caught wind of Felix, his apprentice, who was both a master of medicine and martial arts, only to get boxed in by his fellow apprentice's, Eloise, threats. If Felix were in their shoes, he'd have gone into hiding long ago. The shame would be unbearable.
As Felix walked away, Noah stared after him in disbelief. He was alive. Somehow, he'd made it out.
"He's so young," Noah thought. "If he'd killed me, the Elder's Council would miss out on a lot of intel. Does he really think the Elder's Council is out of tricks? Even with Eloise's restriction about sending someone just one level higher, there's still a high chance he'll die. Just wait."
When Felix got home, his phone buzzed with a call from Rosalyn. He figured she either had good or bad news.
"Ms. Ruby," he greeted.
Hesitantly, Rosalyn said, "My grandfather agreed, but there's a condition. He wants you to

come to our house, and..."
Hearing her hesitation, Felix guessed the condition wasn't going to be an easy one. "And what?"
"I think he's being unreasonable. I don't even want to say
Felix chuckled. "Just tell me regardless."
it."
After a deep sigh, Rosalyn finally said, "He wants you to bring three of the top ten master healers in Dragonia to examine me. If all three come to the same diagnosis, then he'll allow you to treat me."
Felix let out a dry laugh.
"What a cautious old man," he thought. It was obvious Rosalyn's grandfather, Rowan Ruby, had no idea what the piece of bone really was. It was likely a family heirloom he had inherited.
"Ms. Ruby, I agreed to treat you as a favor to Jeffrey. I know this wasn't your idea, but pass this message to your grandfather. 'Who's the patient, and who's the doctor? No doctor goes around begging a patient to let them treat them.' "That's it."
Felix couldn't afford to let this get out of hand. If he agreed to such a ridiculous condition, it would only make him look guilty of ulterior motives.
As for the Dragonspine, there was no way he was giving that up. In the worst case, he'd just bide his time and take it by force later. A surprise attack on Rosalyn would be clean and discreet.
Who'd even suspect him? He'd already been more than gracious.
By sunset, Felix found himself in a restaurant in Canraville. Looking across the table, he stared at Xena with a puzzled expression.
