The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 639
Felix extended his perception for a while but found no suspicious movements or individuals. He had no choice but to give up. Perhaps, as the two bystanders had mentioned, this notorious thief had already moved on to another location.
Given that this mall had already been hit, it was likely the thief had left.
Still, Felix couldn't shake one big question. Why did they target phones? For someone capable of stealing from someone as skilled as himself, they could undoubtedly pull off far bigger heists. Why did they go through the trouble for something so minor? Unable to make sense of it, Felix decided not to dwell further. He headed to the top floor and immediately spotted the scarf shop he had come for. However, the sign at the entrance stood out more than anything else.
"Members only. Non-members, please do not enter".
That one sentence alone showcased the shop's trust and exclusivity. Inside, the store was much larger than it appeared from the outside, with over a dozen sales counters.
"Sir, may I see your membership card, or could you provide your phone number?"
One of the sales associates, wearing a signature smile, approached Felix, as if she had been assigned to assist him. She was used to seeing unfamiliar faces who were unlikely to be members, but strict training ensured she wouldn't directly turn anyone away. "I'm not a member. May I ask how I can become one?"
The sales associate maintained her smile. "Sir, to become a member of our shop, you'll need a referral from a Gold-tier member or higher. Only then can we issue you a membership card."
A referral? Felix hadn't expected this. He had thought money alone would suffice.
"Does it have to be a referral?"
Before the sales associate could respond, a sharp voice cut her off, "Are you deaf or just stupid? Didn't she explain it clearly enough?"
Felix turned, frowning.
The voice belonged to none other than the woman from earlier-the one whose dress had been dirtied by the little girl. Upon closer inspection of her name tag, he realized she was the store manager. No wonder she seemed so full of herself. "As a store manager, do you think it's appropriate to speak to a customer like that?"
The woman, Bertha Lane, laughed.

Chapter 639
The store might only sell scarves, but their steep prices made them a luxury brand. She had dealt with all kinds of people and clearly remembered Felix from the elevator incident.
In her eyes, he was someone who couldn't even afford to pay for damages back then. Why would she care about offending someone like him?
"I would never speak to a real customer that way. But you? You're obviously not qualified. If you can read, you should've noticed the sign at the entrance. Coming in without a membership shows just how shameless you are" Her connections as a store manager made her confident, and she didn't take Felix seriously in the slightest.
Felix slowly raised his right hand. "It seems you have no intention of apologizing."
Bertha scoffed, crossing her arms. "What? Are you going to hit me? Security! Throw him out!"
But before her words could fully sink in, Felix slapped her across the face. "Know your place."
Bertha was furious as she clutched her face. Since becoming the store manager, she had never experienced such humiliation.
"Stop him! Call security!"
At that moment, another customer walked in and stepped in front of Felix.
"Think you can just leave after hitting someone? What kind of man are you?"
Felix recognized him instantly. It was Ronald Sullivan, the same man who had caused trouble at the airport with Nancy.
Bertha seemed to find her savior and quickly ran over. "Mr. Sullivan, please help me! He isn't a member. We told him to leave, but he refused and even hit me." Today's Bonus Offer
