Chapter 695

+25 BORUS

Felix's hands trembled while holding his phone-his entire body was overcome with fear. He was so anxious he couldn't bring himself to press the answer button.

In the end, it was Karina who stepped in, unable to watch him struggle any longer. She reached over and answered the call, putting it on speaker mode.

"Mr. Zeller, a chemical plant caught fire. So far, 35 fatalities have been confirmed."

Felix felt a whirlwind of emotions. On one hand, it was good news that this wasn't connected to Zara. However, it was bad news that over 30 lives had been consumed by the merciless flames.

"I understand. I'll transfer some money to you. Please make sure it's distributed to the families of the deceased," Felix said.

Not knowing about the incident was one thing. Now that he knew, there was no way he could ignore it. Felix wasn't a saint, but he wasn't heartless either.

"By the way, Karina, what does Dahlia need me to do?" he asked.

Karina handed him a piece of paper. "Donate ten million dollars to this orphanage in Gray City. Can you do that?"

Felix froze. Finally, he understood that his fellow apprentices' concern for him had never faded. This wasn't just about the money. It was her way of finding a reason to show care, even though it was an incredibly easy task for him. "Please thank Dahlia for me. I'll visit the orphanage tomorrow," Felix said.

Karina nodded. Then, she suddenly hugged him tightly. "Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Nobody's perfect. Just focus on being the best version of yourself."

With that, Karina left. Felix sighed and gave himself a light smack on the head. She was right. There was no point in dwelling on things. What was done was done. All he could do now was let fate take its course.

The next day, Felix told Melissa to head to the clinic after lunch, whereas he went straight to the orphanage mentioned by Dahlia. The place was home to over 20 bright-eyed, innocent children.

Within ten minutes of arriving, he realized what Dahlia had tasked him with wasn't as straightforward as he had thought. He was politely but firmly shown out of the building.

"Sir, I truly want to help the orphanage," Felix pleaded with the security guard at the gate. I was abandoned by my parents as a child too, so I deeply respect anyone who cares for orphans. I just want to contribute. Could you please tell me why I was turned away?"

The director of the orphanage was a kind-looking elderly man. He had been polite at first, but the moment Felix mentioned donations, his demeanor had shifted entirely.

The guard, noticing Felix's sincerity, sighed. "Five years ago, someone came to donate money. Back then, the orphanage was struggling financially, and the director was overjoyed. But it turned out the money was part of a money-laundering scheme. The police got involved, and it was a close call.

"If the investigation hadn't cleared everyone at the orphanage, it would've been shut down, and the staff would've been jailed. Since then, the director has been wary of donations. He even took down the online donation account and keeps a distance from anyone offering funds in person."

Felix felt his anger flare. What kind of monster would exploit vulnerable children to clean their dirty money?

"Thank you for explaining. I know what to do now," he said.

Felix headed to Concord Bank in Gray City. He didn't even need Leslie's Supreme Black Card card. His Diamond Card alone was enough to send the bank manager, Dorian Yardley, rushing to personally greet him.

"Mr. Zeller, it's truly an honor to have you visit the Gray City branch. How can I assist you today?"

Dorian treaded carefully. Diamond cardholders were people he couldn't afford to offend. Their status in Dragonia was beyond his imagination. Even the slightest connection with someone like Felix could make climbing the corporate ladder a breeze. "You're too kind," Felix said politely. "Here's the situation..."

After listening to Felix's explanation, Dorian visibly relaxed.
