The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
With Husband 710
Chapter 710
Xena wanted to speak up for Felix, but she realized it would be futile, considering even the Warlord of Thunder didn't dare to say a word. Not only would her efforts be meaningless, but she might also end up offending Craig. Suddenly, Felix turned to Craig and said, "Fine! I'll treat her in front of all of you. But if I succeed, you must bow and apologize to me."
Craig gritted his teeth. "What did you just say? Even your mentor has to show respect to me. How dare a young brat like you try to humiliate me?"
Felix sneered. "If you don't agree to it, I'll take my leave now. I'm sure someone of your caliber, as a master healer, will have no trouble curing Caden. Why would I make a fool of myself?" "If you won't agree, I'll take my leave now. I'm sure someone of your caliber-a master/healer-can handle curing Candace without any problem. Why should I embarrass myself?"
Seeing Felix actually turning to leave, Xena chose to let him be. She knew it would be uself to try to make him stay. On top of that, she also thought Craig had gone too far. She would really much like to see how Craig would handle things after Felix left. Craig stood frozen, his expression ashen. He realized he had backed himself into a corner.
If Felix, the scapegoat, walked away, Craig would be forced to treat Candace himself, leaving no one else to take the blame if things went wrong.
"Fine! If you manage to cure her, I'll bow and apologize to you," Craig said through gritted teeth. "But if you fail, I'll have every reason to believe you intended to kill Candace under the guise of treatment. I trust you've prepared to face the consequences, aren't you?" Felix didn't bother wasting more words on the shameless Craig. He stepped toward Candace and said, "Just stand still and leave the rest to me.'
Even though Candace trusted Felix completely he was the first person to accurately determine how much time she had left-she couldn't help but feel nervous about the treatment.
"Dr. Zeller," she called out hesitantly. "A-Are you sure this will work? I have no control over my martial energy, after all."
Felix smiled confidently and reassured her, "Don't worry. If I say it'll work, it will. Trust me
I'm a doctor."
Craig sneered inwardly, already plotting how to shift the blame onto Felix if anything went wrong. Did the young man truly think he could humiliate him without facing consequences?
Felix, on the other hand, was fortunate. If he hadn't refined the fourth Dragonspine,
.
further enhancing his strength, he wouldn't have been so confident about curing Candace. Once everything was ready, Felix raised both hands and had seven silver needles glinting between his fingers. Craig remained unfazed.
Candace's condition was far from stable. Even if Felix's skills matched his own, success would require incredible luck-especially with the high likelihood of Candace's martial energy activating during the treatment. Craig had personally examined her and knew the odds were stacked against him.
Suddenly, three silver needles shot out and landed precisely on Candace's acupoints. In 'the blink of an eye, another three followed.
When the final needle was launched, Craig's expression shifted. He sensed something was amiss, but he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
"That's it?" the Warlord of Thunder asked instinctively.
From what he had seen, the treatment seemed almost childlike. He wondered if Felix had truly cured Candace's condition-something even Craig had struggled with-using just seven silver needles. Before Felix could respond, an unexpected turn of events unfolded.
Candace suddenly began convulsing violently, and a large amount of blood gushed from her mouth and nose.
Xena's jaw dropped at the sight, her mind racing with dread.
Was Felix going to end up in prison?
