The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection -
Billionaire With Husband 827
Chapter 827
Felix eagerly took the item from Leslie and saw it was a medical book.
"Was Mr. Hoffman keeping this from me?" Felix cursed at his stingy mentor.
"Why are all the pages blank?" He flipped through the book, only to find it empty.
"Mr. Hoffman said you need to bind it with your blood to access its contents," Leslie explained.
Felix's excitement grew. If it required a blood-binding ritual, it had to be something extraordinary. He pricked his finger and dripped blood onto the book. Like the harmonica, the book vanished and became one with his body. Felix quickly scanned the book's contents. Within moments, he was engrossed, oblivious to Leslie speaking beside him. "Felix, do you want me to massage your legs? You used to enjoy it when I did that for you." After some time, Felix felt something unusual and opened his eyes. To his surprise, Leslie's face was flushed red, and her hands were placed somewhere... less than appropriate.
"Leslie, weren't you supposed to be massaging my legs? What are you touching?" Felix grinned.
Leslie grew even more embarrassed and lowered her head. Her shy demeanor was irresistible.
"With how you and Averill are acting, I suspect this medical book wasn't from Mr. Hoffman. She must have given it to you after taking her turn, just so you'd have a reason to visit me next!" Though Leslie didn't answer, her expression said it all.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Felix pulled Leslie into his arms and kissed her.
...
After some time had passed, Felix's phone buzzed, but he ignored it. Eventually, he reached for his phone and saw Jeremiah calling.
"Jeremiah?" Felix frowned. Jeremiah rarely contacted him. What could this be about?
He called back, and Jeremiah answered almost immediately.
"What's the matter?" Felix asked.
"Mr. Zeller! There's been an incident. Hudson was kidnapped, and so was that girl, Tammy," Jeremiah said urgently.
"What?" Felix straightened up, and his sudden movement made Leslie tense up. "Who did this?"

Chapter 827
"A young man called Thomas Lance. He's the one pulling the strings behind Tammy's family's housing dispute," Jeremiah explained.
Felix frowned. "You're the richest man in Gray City. Why are you afraid of some small-time loan shark?"
Jeremiah laughed bitterly. "It's not fear, Mr. Zeller. The problem is that Thomas has a martial artist working for him. None of my people are a match for him. This man took Hudson from right under my nose."
A martial artist? Felix understood now. Jeremiah's hesitation must have stemmed from the assumption that someone with such a skilled fighter backing them had powerful connections. Investigating further might put Jeremiah in a difficult position. "Thomas told me to meet him at Starry Club if I dared. He said if I don't show up before sunrise, he'll deal with Hudson and Tammy," Jeremiah added grimly.
"Got it." Felix hung up.
He was frustrated. Who would have thought that a loan shark could create such trouble, even for someone as influential as Jeremiah? If Cynthia had heard about this, she would have never let him live it down.
"Do you need me to come with you?" Leslie offered, her tone icy and murderous.
Felix shook his head. "No need. If I can't handle something like this myself, I would've died long ago."
In a private room at Starry Club, Thomas sat on the couch. His legs were propped on the coffee table, and a cigarette dangling from his lips. His demeanor oozed with smugness.
Not far from him, Hudson kneeled on the floor. He had blood crusted around his mouth, evidence of the beating he had endured. Next to him, Tammy was also on the ground, trembling with fear.
