Chapter 212 Hit and argue!

Eva Gray asked, “Dad, do you live alone in the old house now? In that case, why don’t you just……”

Before she could finish, Baker Lee interrupted, “Do you need to go to the wet market? What’s for dinner?”

Eva Gray rolled her eyes then glared at Baker Lee and stopped talking.

Mr. Lee sighed slightly.

He had it coming! Who else was to blame?

For the rest of the journey, no one spoke again.

Doris Lee felt a little bored, but she did not make a scene. Instead, she hugged the arms of Flora Lewis tightly.

Half an hour later, at the gate of the old house, Baker Lee escorted Mr. Lee in and returned.

When Baker Lee returned, Eva Gray glared at him and questioned, “What’s wrong with you? You don’t want dad to live with us?”

“He would be fine at the old house.”

Baker Lee replied faintly.

“What a bullshit! Just look at him! He was here to pay the bill himself, how could he be fine living alone?”

“Actually, it’s the best choice,” Baker Lee said with a wry smile. “If we let him live with us, it would make him feel bad.”

“Bad?” Eva Gray raised her voice. “How bad would he feel if he has already lead the worst life ever!? Dad is more than seventy, don’t you fear that one day, he would die alone at this old house?!”

“Emm…” Baker Lee hesitated.

“What?” Eva Gray glared. “Dad should live with us. After all, he’s your dad.”

Baker Lee paused for a moment, then sighed, “Yes, you’re right. He’s my dad.”

It was a moment when Baker Lee seemed to put decades of animosity behind him.

Decades of grudge and old scores meant nothing in front of the time and age.

Colin Ward had a good sleep.

The glassed man’s life or death was on his own and at the hand of the god; Walson Martin had been taken cared of; all he needed to do was focus on the development of Marquis and find the real antidote; Doris Lee was in the state that was thought by him to be the best.

It was time to put aside the work.

With Doris Lee in mind, Colin Ward decided to leave the unfinished papers to tomorrow.

Out of the office, Colin Ward saw Vanessa Liu coming out of Nina White’s office.

When they left the office, Colin Ward drove his car to the nearby areas of his old school, where there was a night market with lots of restaurants opening and a lot of activity ongoing at night.

Nina White did not follow because she had work to do.

Vanessa Liu looked at Colin Ward curiously and with surprise. “I can’t believe you would come to a place like this for dinner!”

Colin Ward smiled. “Well, what’s so strange to dine in a place like this? I used to eat here when I was in college.”

To him, the college life was the best time of his life. There was no conspiracy and scheme of the business circle, no gap of wealth and rank of background; everyone was here for a simple friendship and a happy time together.

And now? He had not many to trust. He had his own life and the lives of his loved ones to worry about.

Vanessa Liu looked at him and smiled playfully: “Did you have a girlfriend when you were at school?”

“No.” Colin Ward shook his head. He would love to have a girl friend if he had a better background then.

Vanessa Liu was a bit amazed. “So, Doris was your first love?”

“Well. Yeah!”

Colin Ward’s face softened as he thought of Doris Lee.

Vanessa Liu felt envious and dropped the subject. “What are we going to eat?”

“Won tons would be a good choice!”

Colin Ward turned right and walked straight into a Wonton shop.

After finishing their Won tons, they headed back to where their car was parked.

There was no parking lot, so they had parked in a small alley.

After the two get in the car, Colin Ward drove out slowly. The night market was crowded and the road was narrow.

Just as they were about to leave the small alleys, a little girl rushed out from nowhere; Colin Ward pressed the brake so hard in fear.

However, she bumped into the car anyway.

The little girl gave out a cry in pain and fell to the ground.

“Ouch, it hurts…”

The people around saw this and stopped their pace to look.

Colin Ward and Vanessa Liu got out of the car to check on her. “Are you all right? Where it hits you?”

The girl wore a simple T-shirt and a pair of jeans. She looked like a good girl, but she had pierced her ears and wore earrings, which added a hint of rebellion to her.

The little girl cried and accused Colin Ward and Vanessa Liu saying, “What’s wrong with you?

Don’t you watch out for pedestrians?”

“Are you trying to kill me?”

Vanessa Liu looked at the girl. Judging from the speed the car went and the way the girl behaved, there should not be any problems with her; so she argued: “We were driving when the green light was on. Who knows you would rush out!”

“Are you blaming me? You guys hit me and try to blame me for that? Where is the justice?” The girl shouted at Vanessa Liu.

“You’re being unreasonable,” said Vanessa Liu, who was also angry. “It was red light for you, it meant you were not supposed to walk!”

“What did you say? What’s wrong with you? You hit me, and you’re blaming me?

Shame on you!”

Vanessa Liu rolled up her sleeves. “Hum, shame on you!”

“You!” The little girl was choked up by her own word.

Then, the on-lookers started their talks after knowing the in and outs of the whole situation.

“You hit the girl, you should make your compensation instead of blaming her!”

“Yeah, you should get the girl to the hospital.”

“I have neverseen someone who hit others and blame them for that.”

“The people of today……”

The little girl looked complacent as everyone seemed to side with her.

Colin Ward was a bit speechless at this; it should have been a small accident. But now, it was an accusation.

“Well, it was our fault that we hit you, and we’ll make our compensation. But I hope that you could apologize to my friend for being so rude.”
