ROSE'S POV

If I learned anything from my mom and kept the memory alive, it would be the fact that she never gave up... even in the face of death my mom made me promise to continue shouldering her responsibilities to the pack. And I tried to until my father went to bring another woman into our home all in the name of doing what was best for the pack. Eventually, my father and his new mate ruined the pack and I was shipped off to Alpha Richard to clean up their messes. Well, that was an old tale now.

What mattered now was how I would feed Nora, the bart and overconfident warrior dirt. She had to taste dirt even though I had practically proven that I wasn't a weakling. That I was worthy to be one of the strongest warriors in the pack.

"You think you are high and mighty because you did a flip in the air and kicked me in the back?" Nora yelled, forgetting that to win she had to do less talking but her lousiness was good for me. "You are too bitter, Warrior Nora. You should visit the healer. They might be able to cleanse your soul."

I responded just because I wanted Nora to make a move on me and as expected, Nora stormed toward me like a furious bull and I marched to her to grab her horns, break them and feed her dirt... But it wasn't that easy to knock Nora off her feet.

Nora and I threw a couple of punches. She dodged every one of my attempts and landed a few hits on some shoulders, weakening my arms but Cali was quick with healing my body.

I let Nora hit me as I studied her movements again before countering with uncountable and undodgeable pouches and kicks. She guarded her upper body thinking I would want to retaliate by hitting her shoulders but she forgot that her lower body was open to me. I took advantage of that and weakened Nora's midsection and her legs. She didn't have Alpha Blood within her which meant it would take longer for her to heal.

"Is that all you got? Bring it on, b*tch!"

Nora yelled and I did as she said, throwing punches as she could barely move. Her speed couldn't be used now which put us on the same level. I focused on knocking Nora off her feet but despite my hits, she didn't fall.

Although no one cheered as Nora and I battled for dominance, I didn't lose my determination. I could tell some of the warriors were scared to cheer because of what could be the aftermath while others probably hated me for being a worthy competition against Nora.

"You should flip her, Rose. Her legs are weak now. Focus on grabbing her upper body and flipping her when she won't be able to balance on those legs."

Cali gave me a good idea and I seized my chance to feed Nora dirt. I shifted blows to her arms and shoulders so as to make grabbing her easier.

I could see my victory smiling at me. I could see the light of victory at the far end behind Nora as I grabbed her midsection. She punched me, hitting my back with her now weak hands but I didn't release her.

"Did she just do that?"

Some of the warriors gasped audibly while others whispered under their breaths as I lifted Nora off the ground. I smiled, contented and happy to be closer to my goal.

"This is it, Rose." Cali murmured, "Throw the brat on her back and stuff her face with the dirt of the same ground she had walked like a Queen."

My wolf beast was madder at Nora. It could be heard in her voice and even though I wasn't that mad, I prepared myself to throw Nora away.

"Let go of me!" Nora barked at me.

I retorted, "Anything for you strongest Warrior..."

I gritted my teeth as I summoned all my strength to throw Nora hard enough to break a bone or two but the light of victory that I had been smiling at was suddenly put out by the voice of the man that had been holding me back even though I could be the end of him Alpha King Josh...

"Time is up!"

Alpha King Josh roared, making the field vibrate under my feet. Nora who was struggling to free herself froze just like I did and let my eyes find Alpha King Josh where he had been standing all this while without interfering. Cali exclaimed, "What is he talking about? Time is up? What?"

I could ask the same questions.

"Put her down, Warrior Rose. The time is up and you have proven yourself worthy to be one of the strongest warriors."

Alpha King Josh let out, causing my jaw to drop.

So as not to appear disrespectful to the Alpha King before his warriors, I dropped Nora but not gently. She fell on her back which meant I won but since Alpha King Josh had called the duel off, that would probably not count.

I faced Beta Ada because I didn't want to speak with the Alpha King. I could flare up and punch his nose if I did. "Beta Adam, you didn't tell me there was a time frame for the welcome party."

"Oh, I didn't?" Beta Adam stuttered and I frowned as he continued, obviously lying after hearing from his King. "I must have forgotten to mention that. The Alpha King didn't give us much time because we have to begin the training which he spoke of before the welcome party came up."

Lies! Lies! Lies!

"Why did he stop you at the point where it was so obvious you were winning and breaking Nora's crown?" Cali growled within me as she added, "Could she be that important to him?"

My wolf beast's assumptions fueled my anger and I was sure everyone could feel me losing my cool.

Beta Adam quickly added to his statement, "But the good news is, you are qualified to be a warrior, Warrior Rose. The strongest warriors are delighted to have you in their group and I am certain Warrior Nora will be more than willing to train hard with you and sharpen your skills-"

"I will rather join the warriors of the lowest ranks that have been cast to the back of others like Nora-"

I let out my anger. Murmurs could be heard as I spoke but again, Alpha King Josh decide to interject, "You will not disrespect the Royal Beta of the northern territory and neither will you make the aspiring warriors feel less of themselves. You have earned your place. Why fight with someone that will be your trainer?"

He made me angrier and even though I didn't want to speak rudely to him, I couldn't stop myself this time, "She isn't qualified to train me and I will not be joining the strongest warriors. I remain an aspirant. Let's see how good it would feel to be beaten by an aspirant." I looked down at Nora who was still on the ground as I added her name to make her realize I was referring to her.

"Warrior Rose-"

Alpha King Josh called, silently warning me but I didn't let him humiliate me after he took my victory from me.

I interjected, letting him know that I was more than a warrior. I was an Alpha Born female. The first child of my father and I would not be humiliated by another man all in the name of whatever!

I was leaving that era behind me- but I was still a spy because of my stupidity. Argh!

"Since I have chosen where I want to be, I would like to be excused, Alpha King." I uttered, holding Alpha King Josh's dark gaze. "I need a good rest after whopping the a*s of your best female warrior, don't you agree?" "You can't-"

Alpha King Josh began but I cut in again, "Thank you for the permission given, My King."

"I will take my leave now." I added, putting effort into annoying him just like he had riled me up.

After seeing the glint of anger in his eyes, I turned around and began walking away from the field and from his hot gaze.

Cali etched, "I don't think I like him very much anymore."

"Me too, Cali. Me Too."

I affirmed, hoping that the Alpha king wouldn't follow me so I could have some me time.
