The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Chapter 36
ALPHA KING JOSH'S POV
"I can just imagine us talking a walk together forever."
Max daydreamed as I ushered Rose into the garden within my compound. The garden is behind my mansion but I rarely visit the garden since I was always busy with Alpha King Duties, Business Tycoon responsibilities, and most importantly, enjoying my time in my library which was also my home office. That reminded me- I should visit my office soon.
It's been so many days since I visited Northern Territory Development Corporation. Although I had put Eric in charge of the corporation and everything that has to do with business, still I should show up there soon.
"Why are we taking a walk down this path, Alpha King Josh? Walking through a garden of white roses is such a cliche way to impress a female if that's what you are trying to do."
Rose breathed. Although her words conveyed that she didn't want to be here with me, her red cheeks passed different information.
Max confirmed, "She likes it here. I can perceive her excitement even though she is trying to hide it"
I decided to answer Rose's question. "Yes, I am trying to impress you, Rose. I thought I have made it clear that I want to date you and if this isn't up to your taste and standard, I will try other ways to impress you."
The redness of her cheeks became deeper just as we walked into the part of the garden that had red roses. I should pay the gardener more money for a job well done.
"Alpha King Josh-" She attempted to speak but I cut her off.
"Don't you get tired of calling me that? Try calling me Josh for a change." I said to Rose and recalled the last time she called me by my name.
The night she came to my party with Alpha Richard hanging around her like he couldn't survive the night without her- the same night I got another taste of her. I smiled as memories flooded my mind but my smile withered away when I also remembered that night was the last night I had Rose the exact way I wanted her at this moment.
I craved her... call it l**t but I was needy for her touch on every part of my body.
"I can't address you without your title, My King. That would be disrespectful and-"
I countered softly, "Don't act like you haven't called me by my name before, Rose, and you have disrespected me many times in the past."
"Perhaps I should apologize for my past misconduct, My King." Rose retorted, tilting her head.
"No, Rose." I disagreed and stopped her from walking as I pulled her hand. Her eyes cut to mine as I spoke, "I want you to be the only person who can disrespect me and get away with it."
Quickly, I added, "I want to hear my name rolling off your tongue and I want to get hot all over just by hearing the sound of my name as you call me."
I resisted the desire to tell her that I would like to get hard while she moaned my name as I build pleasure within her body.
"I will get in trouble if I call you your name. It's inevitable."
Rose uttered, holding my gaze and getting lost in my eyes. If I had learned anything about her, it would be the fact that she loved my eyes and I could have her do anything as long as she was looking into my eyes. "No one can hold you accountable as long as I am pleased with it. So call me my name henceforth, okay?"
I declared, squeezing her soft hands that I would love to feel on my length- F*ck! She was driving me insane.
"Alright. I will do that."
Rose finally agreed and she shyly detached her eyes from me, shifting her gaze to the garden floor.
I chose that moment to take us a step further as I asked, "So will you tell me about Rose now?"
Instantly, her shyness and willingness to be with me vanished into thin air. She snatched her hand from my hold and took some steps away from me. My heart clenched as she withdrew but I let her.
I didn't stop her.
She eventually said blurted, "I can't tell you anything about myself, Alpha King Josh-"
"I told you not to call me that!" I fired ferociously, losing my cool. I couldn't control my anger.
Still feeling the fire of anger burning within me, I lashed out, "Why can't you let me know you? You have been hiding and creating unnecessary drama between us while we could have moved past this stage but you are so f*ucking stubborn!" "Are you playing these games with me because you want to go back to the same man that has never respected you? Do you want to return to being his so bad?"
I was ruining the mood. I knew it. I also shouldn't be yelling at someone that got shot with Wolf Bane some hours ago but I couldn't stop myself from yelling. Perhaps yelling at her would reset her brain and remove the clouds in her eyes.
"If you want to go back to him so bad, I might as well march my army to his pack and ruin everything including him. Let's see how you can return to him after I kill him and serve his remains to vultures-"
Rose barked at me, "Do I look like I want to return to him!"
Her voice cut through the thick fury around us and I batted her eyes, looking at everything in the garden but her.
"I do not want to go back to him. I never wanted to be with him from the beginning but still, there is still a lot I can't tell you, Josh. I have my problems and until I face them and conquer them, I can't let you know me."
Rose whimpered causing me to look at her. I saw the glinting tears in her eyes and she appeared defeated.
"What has he done to you, Rose...? Why did you let him break you this much?"
I queried painfully before pulling her into my arms to console her. She let me hold her and I engulfed her with my scent, hoping that she would find comfort.
"Trust me, Josh. I had reasons and even though my initial reasons now seemed worthless to me, they were once the core of my life." Rose whimpered.
"I am going to kill that bastard for you, Rose. I will kill him and-"
Surprisingly, Rose countered, "No. Promise me that you won't attack Alpha Ricahrd or kill him, Alpha King Josh. Please."
But why would she want to keep him alive when I could easily end his life for her? Anyone in her situation would have gladly accepted to watch me kill Alpha Richard but Rose wasn't anyone. If I didn't see pure fear in her eyes I would have thought she didn't hate Richard. "What if the fear in her eyes is her fear of seeing Richard dead?"
A tiny voice in the back of my mind whispered to me. It wasn't Max so I shook my head, choosing not to believe that voice.
"Killing him now would ruin so many things and so many lives would be affected. My peoples' lives would be at stake and my life too." Rose's face showed that she was having second thoughts about what she was revealing and she bit her lips as she trembled in my Her people?
arms.
Was she referring to her birth pack?
Which of the Alphas in the Northern Territory have a daughter? I didn't notice any Alpha like that at the party I hosted recently. Could it be that her parents didn't attend because Alpha Richard was using something against them? Heck!
I wished she could tell me more and let me end her misery.
Max chipped in, "The spies might be able to tell us more. And Adam had promised to get answers. Don't push her further. She must have her reason for being so sheltered." That was true.
Rose etched before I could speak, "I want you to trust me, Josh. I will never do anything to harm you intentionally. Trust that I hate Alpha Richard. Trust me enough to give me time to sort out my mess. Trust me even when all odds are against me." "Rose-"
us."
Rose stopped my response and continued her speech, "Promise me that you will trust me, Josh. Promise me that you won't go after Alpha Richard and that you will be there when I eventually feel comfortable enough to let you in and accept this chemistry between "Promise to trust me, Josh." Rose cried desperately.
This was her at her lowest. I could tell she was opening up to me and she just confirmed that she could feel the chemistry between us.
That was good enough for me.
"I will promise you all that if you promise to stay with me and never leave me worried."
I chimed, wiping her tears.
"I will stay with you, Josh. I want to stay with you, in fact." Rose let out, surprising me again. "And I promise to never leave you worried like I did yesterday."
There was no word in the English dictionary that could fully describe the joy I felt as Rose promised to stay with me. As long as she stayed, I could do anything with her. I could make our chemistry grow into something bigger. "Then I trust you, Rose."
I let out, sealing our fates with those few words.
As I hugged her, I wondered what the future held for us both... I mean, I want her in my future. In fact, Rose was my future. I could imagine what a rosy future that would be.
Or maybe not.
