The Twin Alphas’ Fated Mate -
Fate of the Forsaken Brother Chapter 15
~Maxton-
"How was the alpha ceremony at Silver Lake?" My dad, Elliot, asks us.
"Well, uh, the actual ceremony was uneventful. Went smoothly." I say.
"Okay, how did the entire visit go?" My other dad, Arthur, asks. Damn. They know I'm beating around the bush.
"It was...a lot." I say.
"What happened?" Arthur asks.
"What didn't happen?" Devin mumbles.
"We know all three of you found your mates. Did something else happen?" Elliot asks. Wait, how does he know I also got mated?
"But, how did you-" I start but Arthur cuts me off.
"We got a call from Alpha Wade about an hour before you guys got back. He was apologizing profusely for his daughter's actions. He said he wishes Maxton didn't have to reject her, but he understands. We didn't ask any further, we just left it at that. So we'd like to know what happened." Arthur says.
I sigh and motion for Kaden and Devin to sit down on the couch. I follow and sit on one of the chairs. My dads come over too. Elliot sits next to me and Arthur stands by the couch.
I tell my dads the entire story of what happened with Penny. How she didn't want to live here or be Luna. I told them how I rejected her, but she ran away and Alpha Wade ended up having to alpha command her to accept it after she caused a scene. After I finished telling them, Elliot nodded.
"Well, you did the right thing. Penny doesn't sound like she'd be a good fit for you anyway. Even her own father was horrified by what she did. Your mother might be upset to hear about this at first, but we'll make sure she understands you did what was best for you and the pack." Elliot says.
"That was all we wanted to discuss. You may leave now. Glad you're home." Arthur says. Before anyone can move, Kaden speaks up.
"That's actually not all that happened." Kaden says. My dads look around at us, but Devin and I look at Kaden. I give him a slight nod to let him know I'm here if he needs me. Kaden nods and takes a breath.
"After the ceremony, I was dancing with Aubrey. A man came up to me and asked to speak to me. He knew my name and I was curious. So I agreed and followed him. He told me his name is Alpha Jerald Godfrey of Black Creek pack."
"I've never heard of him or that pack." Arthur says, narrowing his eyes.
"That's what I said. He told me the pack name is new. They didn't have a name before. He then told me his sister was Tonya Godfrey and that my last name is Godfrey-Anderson. He said that you two lied to me about my name." Kaden says.
"We did no such thing! We assumed Garret gave you our last name, but obviously couldn't ask him or Tonya after they were dead." Elliot says.
"I know you didn't lie. You have never lied to me. I just figured you guys didn't know. Besides, Anderson is still my last name. Anyway, Jerald told me he took over the rogue pack after Garret's death. He said more than half of that pack escaped when Arthur was stabbed because everyone was distracted. He renamed the pack Black Creek. Also, tonya never liked Garret. I think he forced her to be his mate." Kaden explains. Arthur and Elliot's eyes go wide with this new information.
"The rogue pack is still out there? Are you f*g kidding me?" Arthur says. He starts pacing. I turn to Kaden. He hasn't finished the story yet. Kaden sighs and shakes his head at me, telling me he can't say it.

"How was the alpha ceremony at Silver Lake?" My dad, Elliot, asks us.
"There's more." I say. My dads turn to me, then back to Kaden, but I speak up. "He's still upset about this part. It kind of set him off while we were there. He had a hard enough time telling me. Basically, this Jerald guy promised the pack he'd find and bring back the rightful alpha. Which is Kaden. He's been called the 'rogue prince'. Jerald wants him to leave this pack and all of us, including his mate, to become the alpha of the rogues. Follow in Garret's footsteps." I tell them. My dads look pissed.

"I know you've had it rough with the pack and the bullying, but please tell me you didn't agree to this." Elliot asks. Kaden whips his head to look at him.
"Of course, I didn't. I told the old man he was delusional." Kaden says.
"And to go to hell." Devin pipes up.
"And then went on a rant to me about how our family is too important to him and he'd never abandon us." I say. Elliot smiles at Kaden.
"Well, I'm glad you didn't even entertain the idea. But this is serious." Arthur says.
"Yeah, I have a feeling that wasn't the end of it. Even after I said no the first time, he went on about how it's my birthright and that the pack would love me more than this one did. Max mind-linked me right after he said it and I used that as my excuse to get the f**k out of there. That's when I told him to go to hell. He looked annoyed, but he didn't look like he was finished. He will definetly try to convince me again." Kaden says.
"The only problem now is that Jerald knows Kaden doesn't want to leave his family or Aubrey. So he might use that against him." I say. Kaden looks at me, pissed.
"He won't touch Aubrey. She's mine." Kaden growls. Devin grabs his shoulder.
"Down boy. We know she's yours. We're just stating that she's probably going to need some sort of protection. And maybe you should mark her sooner rather than later. That way you can feel her. Knock on wood, if she does get taken, your bond will make it easier to find her." Devin
says.
"He's right. You'll be able to feel the pull of the bond. It will make you want to go in the direction she's in. You'll also feel what she feels. Scared, hurt, sad, happy. All of it." Elliot says.
"It helped us when Mercury was away from us. We knew she was sad without us, but she wasn't physically hurt." Arthur said. Kaden nods.
"I still haven't told her about all this, but I will tonight and I'll bring up the marking. I just don't want her to feel rushed, y'know?" Kaden says.
"We understand. Until then, we'll have a guard with her at all times when you are not with her." Elliot says.
"Thanks. I appreciate that. You'll have one with Mercury too, right? She is the reason I was saved and she's the only mother I have. She'll definitely be seen as a target." Kaden says. I hadn't even thought of that. This is why Kaden will be a great beta. He thinks of s**t I don't.
"Yes, we will have one with Mercury as well." Arthus says.
"Alright, we will start working on this tomorrow. You three have had a rough couple days. Go rest up and we'll meet in the morning." Elliot says. We all nod and head out of the office. Seriously, it feels like a month has gone by with how much s**t happened when it's only been two days. We all head to the main floor of the packhouse. That's probably where my mother
has Kai and Aubrey.
"There's more," I say. My dads turn to me, then back to Kaden, but I speak up. "He's still upset
about this part. Follow in Garret's footsteps." I tell
them. My dads look pissed.
Once we get down the stairs, Kaden and I get knocked over.
"You guys are back!" Rhett yells in my face.
"Finally. You guys were gone for so long." Blake says from on top of Kaden.
"We were only gone the night." Kaden says.
"Yeah, but you've never been away and dummy just got home after being gone for years." Rhett
points at me when he says dummy. I narrow my eyes at him.
"If anyone is a dummy, it's you two." I say, laughing at them as we stand up. Damn, they are getting tall. They're catching up to Devin.
"Nope, you're a big alpha dummy. Hey, mom says we can play catch outside. Want to come?"
Blake asks.
"Yeah, sure. Let me say hi to mom and I'll meet you out there." I say. The twins smile and run
back to where they came from. They grab Aubrey's hand and start to drag her outside while
calling for Kai to follow. Kaden laughs.
"|
I guess we're coming outside too." He says.
"At least they like our mates." Devin says. We go to my mom and I pull her in for a hug.
"Hi, mom." I say.
"Hi, boys. Your mates are lovely. They seem excited to be here."
"Thanks, Mercury." Kaden says before also hugging her. I give my mom a quick rundown of
Kaden's situation, just to let her know about the guards. I tell her she should ask my dads about the details because Kaden looks like he's had enough of retelling this story. My mom looks pissed about the rogue pack still being a thing, but she understands we have to be careful. She knows firsthand what they are like.
We meet everyone outside. Kai is throwing a football to my little brothers while Aubrey cheers
them on.
"Hey, we haven't had a chance to talk yet, but are you okay? You know, after everything with Penny?" Kaden asks. I look at him.
"Yeah, it was just a lot all at once. But I have been meaning to ask you something." I say.
"Yeah, anything." Kaden says.
"When Penny was near me, I felt the mate pull, but something felt off. Like she wasn't supposed to be my mate or something. Did you feel that way with Jaclyn?" I ask. Kaden furrows
his brows.
"I mean, we weren't mated very long cause she rejected me right away, but I did feel on edge
the entire time she was there. It felt...wrong to be mated to her, kind of. Once she rejected me,
it hurt, but I also felt relief." Kaden says.
"That's basically how I felt. What about Aubrey?" I ask.
"Aubrey feels different. She feels like air in my lungs after holding my breath. She makes me feel calm." Kaden explains, looking out at her.
"Kai makes me feel grounded, like everything clicked once I found him. I think that's how
mates are supposed to make you feel." Devin says. I look between them before turning to look
out at my brothers.
"So many I was never meant to be with Penny. Maybe I need to keep looking." I say, more to
myself than anyone.
"You deserve this too. You were the one who convinced me to go after Aubrey after I had a
shitty experience. Now I'm going to do the same for you. Don't give up on mates." Kaden says. I nod at him.
"Let's go, guys!" Rhett calls to us. I chuckle and we head down. I still want to find my mate, but for now, my family is all I need.
