2 Years Later...

~Maxton~

It's the day of my Alpha ceremony. My dads have invited a bunch of surrounding packs. Ava has been talking about how excited Aubrey is to see her friends since her friends will be coming with Alpha Austen. They should be here by now.

I'm just finishing up putting my suit on. I hear a knock at my door. I call for them to come in.

"Are you ready, Birthday Boy?" Devin says, coming into the room, Kaden following. I laugh. "Everyone is waiting. The twins are getting antsy." Kaden says. Rhett and Blake turned 16 this year. They got their wolves and have been non-stop shifting just to get energy out.

"Just about. I'm nervous. Are guys nervous?" I ask.

"Nope!" Devin calls out. Kaden shoots him a look.

"Yes, we are. But we've been preparing for this for years. We got this." Kaden says.

"I'm not nervous. I'm totally ready." Devin says. Kaden smacks the back of his head. "Ow!"

"Shut up. You called me this morning to ask me what to wear and broke down crying when you couldn't find the tie you wanted. Then Kai told you it was in your hand." Kaden says. Devin makes a confused face.

"Uh, I don't recall any of that. Must've been a dream." Devin shrugs. I roll my eyes at him. Kaden comes over to me.

"What are you nervous about?" He asks me.

"My dads ran this pack so smoothly because they had each other. They split the alpha duties and did everything together. I'm going to have to do it alone. I don't have a twin to help me out." I tell him.

"Well, you may have it harder than your dads, but when have you ever backed down from a challenge? You've been training your whole life for this moment. And I may not biologically be your twin, but we look so much alike, I might as well be. I'll be here to help you in any way you need me to. And Devin..." Kaden looks back at where Devin is standing, looking up at the ceiling like he's never noticed it before, "...will be doing what Devin does."

I laugh and Devin flips us off.

"I'm smart and helpful. I'm just bored. I want to go see Kai." Devin says.

"You're not bored. You're horny." I say. Devin smirks.

"Same thing." He shrugs.

"Keep it in your pants. At least for a few hours. We have to get downstairs in 20 minutes." Kaden says. I check the time and he's right. The ceremony starts at 5:30. It's just past 5:00 now. I finish up at the mirror and close the closet door.

"Alright. Let's go." I say. We leave my room and head downstairs.

~Kaden~

"Attention everyone! The ceremony will begin now!" Elliot calls out from the stage. Max, Devin, Ava and I are back beside the stage. Aubrey, Kai and the twins are standing out front, waiting to

see us.

"You ready?" I ask Max. He takes a deep breath and nods. Ava rubs his back, comforting him.

"Maxton, please step onto the stage." Elliot calls out. Max smiles at us and goes up the stairs to join his parents. He hugs them all and stands beside them.

"We are here today to pass the Alpha title along to our son, Maxton Anderson." Arthur calls out to the crowd. I noticed they didn't say eldest son. That's usually said in the speech. "Today, Maxton turns 20. The year all young Alphas step up into the role they were born to do. Maxton, do you swear to protect this pack with your life?"

"I do." Max says.

"Do you swear to rule with fairness and loyalty?"

"I do."

"Do you swear to always be kind and treat the pack members as family?"

"I do."

"May I present to you, the new Alpha of Red River Pack, Alpha Maxton Anderson!" Elliot calls out. Max steps forward as we all feel the shift in power. The crowd cheers for their new alpha.

Mercury waves Devin and I on stage. We hug Ava and she wishes us good luck. We climb up the stairs and go to stand behind Max.

"Thank you, everyone. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be your Alpha. I don't know if I could ever live up to my fathers' legacy, but I'll do my best to try." Max says to the crowd. Elliot and Arthur are smiling off to the side with Mercury. "Now, I'd like to introduce to you who will be by my side in running this pack. Your new Beta, my brother, Kaden Anderson!" Max turns to me and I step forward. I feel this weird sensation come over me. It's the Beta title taking affect. I feel stronger, somehow.

"And your new Gamma, our best friend, Devin Joyner!" Max calls out. Devin steps forward too. I hear loud cheering and look to see Aubrey, Kai and the twins cheering for us right up front. Aubrey has a huge smile on her face as she blows me a kiss.

"Thank you, everyone." Maxton raises his hand, calming everyone to be quiet. "Now, as most of you know, I met my mate two years ago. She is from this pack and is well known to most, as she worked in the kitchen, making everyone's food since she was 15. I'd like to introduce to you, my mate and your new Luna, Ava Bowman!"

Ava steps up on the stage. Mercury hugs her tightly and whispers something none of us can hear. Ava smiles and kisses Mercury on the cheek before coming to stand with Max. Their fingers interwine together and Max presents her like she's his most prized possession. I know how that feels. I just want to show Aubrey off to everyone. Let everyone know who she belongs to. I look down at her again and she has tears in her eyes while watching Max and Ava. They do look great. They are going to be amazing. I look over at Devin and he nods to me. Right, I'm supposed to announce them. I clear my throat and step up to get everyone's attention.

"For the first time, Alpha Maxton and Luna Ava!" I call out and everyone cheers. Max and Ava have huge smiles on their faces. Max leans in and kisses Ava. Devin and I leave the stage and go straight to our mates.

"You were amazing!" Aubrey squeals when I lift her into my arms. I kiss her hard, grabbing her neck and pulling her closer to me. She giggles as my hand runs down her back. "The party just started. You can wait to play later, Beta Kaden." Aubrey whisper. I groan and she giggles again. The party goes on and soon enough, people start to disperse. When Max and Ava decide to call it a night, I decide it's time to retire to our room as well.

As we head upstairs, I look down at Aubrey.

"What's wrong?" Aubrey asks.

"I just love you so much. Our lives changed so much two years ago when we went to your pack.

I just feel complete." I tell her. Aubrey smiles.

"I love you too." She says, kissing me. We get to the room and I sigh, thinking about how much has changed. I went from being the outcast, the forgotten one, the forsaken brother of the powerful alpha twins, to being the Beta who stands next to the Alpha of one of the most powerful packs in the country. s**t was rough growing up, but honestly, I wouldn't change a

damn thing.
