The Unshackled Queen: Never Say Never -
Chapter 1953
“I need to talk to Remington,” she responded.
Turning to face him, Hannah asked, “Are you aware of the recent events concerning the Compton family?
She was surprised when Peterson nodded in affirmation.
“I know.”
Peterson guided Hannah along a green path behind the manor.
“This issue has been quite disruptive.
It’s difficult not to be aware of it.”
Indeed, the situation involving the head of the Compton family was significant enough that it was impossible for it to remain secret.
“So, this is why you returned?” Peterson queried.
“Partially,” Hannah admitted.
Peterson paused, pondering before speaking.
“Did you come to ask my brother for help, or do you think he might be involved in the Compton family’s troubles?”
Hannah hesitated, her expression complex.
“Why would you ask that?”
“Don’t worry,” Peterson reassured her with a smile.
“I overheard your conversation with Conor.
You’re clearly rushed.
Are you seeking help from my brother, or do you suspect his involvement?”
While Peterson was part of the Lyons family, he was not like Remington.
Wanting to protect those uninvolved, Hannah said cryptically, “You’re still young.
There are things I prefer not to disclose.”
Peterson’s expression darkened as he looked at Hannah with a touch of sadness.
“Hannah, I have passed my birthday this year.
I am already 18 years old, not a child anymore.”
Hannah had assisted Peterson on several occasions and felt a brotherly connection to him, reminiscent of her relationship with Bryson.
“Yes, you are indeed not a child,” she acknowledged.
“But there are still things I can’t share with you,” Hannah added.
“Okay,” Peterson responded, deciding not to press further.
“I won’t ask then, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
As they continued their walk, they reached the horse farm enclosed by wooden fences.
A trainer was assessing the terrain on horseback, apparently preparing for an upcoming event.
“Are you planning a horse race soon?” Hannah inquired casually.
“Yes,” Peterson confirmed.
He gestured for Hannah to come closer and shared, “Every summer, our manor’s horse farm hosts a competition where the winner receives a substantial reward.”
His voice grew enthusiastic as he continued, “This year, my brother has invited guests from several major families, and the prizes are exceptionally generous.”
“Um- But-” Peterson hesitated before revealing, “Due to complications from a recent car race, the young masters of the Juarez and Delgado families are now in trouble,
and these families will not participate.
Additionally, the Compton family has encountered new issues.
As a result, only the Pierce, Austin, and Lyons families will be competing this time.”
