The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 10

-POV Ayame-

Once the doctor left down the hall, the room remained silent for a moment, and it was starting to become daunting. Almost uncomfortable. Then, a knock at the door broke the silence and Vincent was opening it faster than I could even turn to see how he got there. Maybe he used his wolf speed or something.

A young woman around my age was helping Elizabeth bring in some plates covered by domed silver plate covers. Every chance she got she glared at me and her eyes turned yellow, then back to blue. It was terrifying. Her hair was long and brunette and she was much taller than me. Probably six feet or so. She was like a supermodel. Every inch of her screamed gorgeous....and threatening. Then it occurred to me. I thought they said only Elizabeth would be coming up here. Strange. "What are you doing in here?" Edon growled and the young woman flinched. Well, I guess that answers that question.

"Elizabeth looked like she needed help, so I volunteered." The woman said as if she was being kind to help Elizabeth, but there was something off with her tone.

"I didn't ask for...." Elizabeth started, but Conri raised his hand to stop her.

"It's okay. Edon, please deal with your trash." Conri said irritably, and Edon rose from his seat, grabbed the girl by the arm and I could tell she was not happy about this. She kept screaming, 'who was the girl?'

Then I heard it. "You want that ugly tramp over me?!"

I froze and a tear left my eye before I could even think. So, she was one of the girls that was up here before me. That was too obvious. I'm sure she is one of many. I quickly removed the tear from my cheek. I might think I'm nothing, but I really don't want all of them to notice. Elizabeth put down the last tray and pulled the dolly away, excusing herself. "I'm so sorry sirs." She whispered.

"It's not your fault, but next time, if you need help, let us know and we will get another vetted server to join you."

Elizabeth nodded and hurried out the room. While Edon slipped in behind her. "That disrespectful little -" He froze mid-sentence and cleared his throat. "The issue is taken care of." So he isn't always the level-headed one.

Conri sat on one side of me and Vilkas on the other. Edon was about to pick me up but I stood up on my own. "You're not supposed to put weight on that." Conri said, pulling away one of the silver domes revealing slices of succulent ham. The smell hit my nose like a train, but I was too tired for this now.

I'll blame it on the healing process or something, but having that girl call me what I really am...out loud. It confirmed my suspicions and mutilated my appetite. "I'm not -"

"Sit." Vilkas said sternly, and he started piling on his plate with steak, the ham from earlier and fresh mash, broccoli and mac and cheese. I was in love with that plate. I think my appetite was coming back.

"Come on, you can sit on my lap." Edon whispered in my ear and I shook my head. I...I didn't want him to touch me.

"I'll sit over there." I said, grabbing a plate and putting some of the side dishes on it before grabbing one piece of ham. I started nibbling my food, huddled up on the arm chair to the right of the triplets and I knew Conri and Edon weren't happy.

I ate in silence and at some point I was pushing the food around my plate. It smelled and looked good, but the hunger I had thought came back disappeared just as quickly. Damn emotions. I haven't eaten since I left Montreal and before that I didn't eat anywhere near this much food in one sitting. I was missing the cornucopia of lunch because of a brunette thirst trap. "Ayame."

I looked up from my plate, hearing my name called. It was Conri this time. "So, after some food and the doc visit, are you feeling any better?" I nodded. "Words please." He pressed.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm full, actually." I said.

"Well, since you cannot walk, at least one of us will be with you at all times and if we cannot, Charlie, Vincent, or Kyle will instead." He said.

I looked between the six men and they were either eating, nodding their heads, or both. "So, I'm being guarded?" I asked hesitantly.

"Nope. We are just your butlers until you can use your ankle. I'm surprised they are getting so protective already. It's cute really." Kyle said and Vilkas threw a piece of sausage at him. It was cute. Not creepy, like with Ri-Richard. Relief flooded through me when I realized it was just that. They were just trying to help. No malicious intent here.

Kyle caught the meat in his teeth and Vilkas rolled his eyes. "Show off." He muttered.

"Oh...so then what do you guys do if you're not being my butlers?" I asked curiously. I could feel the triplets glaring at me while I turned my full attention to Kyle.

"Oh, I'm the Beta, the backup for Conri, Vilkas, or Edon if they cannot perform their duties. I also monitor and maintain relations with external packs around the world." "Cool. D-do you mind me asking if your, um a...."

"Oh, it's fine. I'm a Lycan like Conri over there." He said, nodding his head toward Conri.

"That's really cool, so all shifter species live together here then?" I asked expectantly. I wasn't surprised at how interested I was, but the guys were. Their faces said it all.

Kyle hesitated and looked at Conri. Once Conri nodded, Kyle cleared his throat and turned back to me. "Pretty much. We even have some leopards and tigers, but they tend to stay with their own kind. Cats are annoying. There are other packs around the world though, we just take pride in being one of the largest territories with different types of shifters coexisting in one place." Kyle concluded.

I nodded and turned to Vincent. "So...what about you, the Gamma, right?"

He nodded. "Yes, my job is to be judge and jury. I work with Vilkas a lot. I am also a werewolf." So Vilkas does associate with people. That is one theory debunked.

"Well, that's the PG way of putting it." Kyle chimed in, jamming more meat in his mouth. I think I'm going to like him.

"And that's the way we are going to put it for now." Vilkas warned. Every time I see those two interact, Vilkas looks like the irritated older brother.

"So, I guess that leaves me again. I'm the head warrior, also a werewolf. It is my job to make sure all warriors are trained and ready for battle if and when needed. Mostly now, our job is to be ambassadors or help other smaller packs, but the ones that live here tend to be pretty harmonious even if there is only one - well in this case, three - alphas." Charlie said, nodding to the triplets.

I finally turned back to them. "So, you three are the alphas."

Vilkas, Conri, and Edon nodded. "Yes we are, and we are the leaders of the pack. Our parents handed it down to us four years ago and went on their own...expedition around the world. We will see them at some point, I'm sure." Edon said annoyingly.

I'm sure they couldn't be all bad, but the grimace that fell on all three of their faces made me think otherwise. "However, I'm still trying to figure out why you are all the way over there." Conri asked. Right. Skinship. I guess I was subconsciously pouting after I heard that girl's nonsense. I shouldn't let that get to me or in between the triplets and I, but I did.

I put my plate down, giving up on the art work I was starting to make with the food that was left, and walked over to them. Edon and Vilkas were still eating, so I turned to Conri hesitantly. He waved his hand to me and I sat on his lap almost immediately. At least he was starting to become more approachable. "So, what's your story then? Humans usually don't travel out this far? Nor are they this knowledgeable or interested in creatures like us." Kyle asked with a bit of sarcasm around the word 'creature.' I don't think they have had many good experiences with humans.

I pointed to the three men trying to get as close to me as they could. "These three found me almost frozen to death. I guess I really didn't think it through when I chose to go north instead of south. It's much warmer down there, but I just picked the cheapest ticket." "Yeah, plane rides to the south can get expensive." Kyle agreed.

"Oh no...no plane ride. I took the train." I clarified.

"All the way up here by yourself? You are one lucky human. What are the odds that you would find the one train that only comes up here every three months?" Charlie said, and Vincent elbowed him.

I shook my head. He is right. I was thinking about that the entire trip up here. "Nope, I just think some other higher being realized I needed to run and this was my only chance, so as long as I took the opportunity, it would work itself out." I concluded.

"You really have a positive attitude for a human that just found out supernatural beings exist and, by the looks of it, you seem to have been beaten down to an inch of your life. The Moon Goddess favors you and the triplets. That's the only explanation. I'm getting more interested by the minute." Kyle said excitedly.

"Guys, stop digging!" Edon shouted and they immediately backed down. I flinched at his outburst. He turned to me completely calm and held out a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie. Yep, I'm going to enjoy this. Even if it isn't real, they got me at cookies. "Sorry to shout and sorry for that other girl earlier." He said calmly and I took the cookie.

Then, I leaned back on Conri's chest. His chest was as hard as a rock, just like Edon's, but I was also able to get his scent now. He wasn't the scent I found on the jacket before. His was waffles and maple syrup. It was delicious. But then that meant...it was Vilkas's coat?! Mystery solved while another began. The mean triplet actually gave me warmth while we were in the car.

"Apologies are always accepted with cookies involved." I said happily. Especially when the cookie is the size of a small plate!

Edon smiled happily and tapped my nose, pushing a smile from my lips. "I'm glad to hear that. I don't want you to be mad at us already."

I giggled lightly. "There is no way I would be angry with you three already. I'm still shocked you guys wanted me in the first place."

"We will always want you." Conri said matter-of-factly. It almost made it better that I heard it from him as well as Edon.

I turned to Vilkas as he finished chewing his meat, not saying a word. "I'm sure he's with them. If anyone else thinks it's appropriate to hurt you, Vilkas, Charlie and I will remove them from this realm and the next." Vincent growled. It hurt that it wasn't said by Vilkas, but maybe I'm just not good enough for all three triplets. I guess I should just settle for two for now. I shouldn't be greedy.

So that settles that then. Now all I have to deal with are the thirsty women knocking at my self-esteem. I took another bite of my cookie once they finished their plates. "I'm glad. I'm glad that you won't give up on me." I whispered.

Conri and Edon nodded. "Never." They said in unison. Now I just need to have more confidence in myself. These last few days have been a whirlwind, but it isn't something I can't control. I just need to look at the bright side.

"Good." I agreed. I finished off my cookie and the guys started going over some paperwork and a few challenges they were having with some pack members. Nothing too crazy. I'm really starting to think this is too surreal and I want this to continue forever. I think it is even crazier how easy it is to fit in here. I feel like I was supposed to be here my whole life. I leaned back on Conri's chest and he shifted his weight. Once I was done with my cookie, I felt myself nodding off to sleep. Again.
