The Unwanted Luna
Their Mate, My Saviors Chapter 26

-POV

Edon-

Conri patiently scrolled through his phone while I couldn't help but feel some nerves growing through my system. I want to go back in there. I'm thinking those two will start fighting, as per usual. If they start fighting again, then maybe.... Ugh! I don't know why my brain is running so fast. Why was this keeping me on edge? He was her mate just as much as we were, but still! I turned away from my brother, realizing the light tap of his fingers against the dull glow of his screen was driving me nuts. However, all that awaited me were the pristine white walls covering the corridor. Nothing to distract me from the aching possibility that those two being alone could cause my whole weekend to crumble.

"Calm down." Conri said nonchalantly.

Calm down?! He's the one who has us in the hospital wing because he couldn't find some other outlet aside from Ayame's hips to grab onto. "I should be saying that to you. You two haven't even been home for five minutes and you accidentally held onto her too tight?!" I grumbled. "Now she's with the Doc...again." I added.

He sighed and shoved his phone in his pocket. "I'm aware."

I looked at him shocked and decided it wasn't worth caring about. He was kind to her in the beginning, but I guess his real colors are finally showing. "Of course, you are." I spat back sarcastically.

"I apologized to her a million times on our way over here and I hope she isn't afraid of me, but there is nothing else I can do to turn back time, Edon. I don't need any disrespect from you." He added coolly.

Disrespect. Yeah, I'll show him disrespect. Right when I was about to ring his neck, an alert rang through our minds. "Alphas!! Ten rogues are coming your way. Warriors are subduing the problem at the border, but some have slipped through. Evacuate the hospital! We will be there as soon as we can!" It was Vincent!

I looked at Conri and he nodded while we raced through the halls, making sure everyone was moved down to the bunkers. Why would they want to attack the hospital?"Vil, did you hear that?" I called to him. I'm not sure if he had the block up.

"The doctor just came in. I'll help with the last few patients." Vil called out to the group.

Then we heard it. Raveonous howls and the rapid heartrate of rogues. "Sh*t! They are already here. We need to fight, now! Edon, Vil, front door!" Conri shouted.

All three of us made it just in time and, just like Vincent said, there were ten of them. We all shifted immediately, not caring about our clothing as it tore to shreds around us. There was no time. If we didn't squash this now, they might get to the patients who are defenseless right now. What makes matters worse is Ayame is one of those patients.

Let the battle begin.

As we slashed through the enemy, I knew they had to be here for something. Their plan of attack was laser focused, but on what? "We need to save one of them. If we don't, we won't know why they are here in the first place." I called out.

"We don't have any survivors on our end, Alphas. Charlie and I have removed the problem." Vince called with an update.

"We have one left and he seems a bit strange. What is he looking at?" Vil said as he paced the last wolf glaring straight past us.

I did what I'm never supposed to do in a fight. I turned away from my enemy only to be met with the brown orbs of our now terrified mate sitting on the floor of the hospital lobby. She hasn't turned away from us while her eyes grew at the scene. I looked back and forth from our mate to the now pacing rogue. "Ayame! They are after Ayame!" I shouted and Vil immediately went for the rogue's hind legs and snapped one, then snapped the other. "Good, then he won't be too hard to crack this time." Charlie said irritably. "They want our Luna, they will die trying."

It was reassuring how close she had gotten to our Beta, Gamma, and Head Warrior. It makes our job much easier. That is for sure. "I'm coming to you, Charlie." Vil said as he started to drag the rogue towards the city.

"No Vil, restrain him and let Charlie and Vince handle this when they get here. We have another problem." I stared back at the woman breathing heavily as sweat glistened on her brow.

Conri and Vil turned in the direction of my voice and they both groaned. "Sh*t." They said together.

I took a deep breath and started to shift back into my human form. Normally, this was a quick process, but now that she has seen our wolf, lycan, and bear form, I need her to see the transition back. I want her to know it's still us. However, this was painful. I don't think I have gone through a transition this slowly since I shifted for the first time as a child.

Once I felt my fingers replace my paws and my fur retract from my skin, I forced a smile on my face. "Hey princess." I pressed through my raspy voice.

Vil and Conri came up next to me and did the same excruciating process. Thankfully, all of us have had enough training to suppress our urge to scream out in pain. Once they were back in their human form, Conri adjusted his stance. "Ayame." He said sternly. She was in shock! Him putting on his brave face isn't going to make her feel any better!

"What's with the ogling?" Vil grumbled. Can they at least have one conversation where he isn't taunting her? What is with these two?!

She had tears now.... Tears! No! I started towards her but she got to her feet and I froze. "Baby?" I whimpered.

She sprinted straight towards us and slammed into my chest. She reached out her hands and Conri and Vilkas came towards her. We were naked, but meh, we were used to it. I wrapped my arms around her and Conri held onto one of her hands while Vil held onto the other. "I'm so glad you guys are okay. I was so scared!" She shouted.

"Wait what? The hell would you be scared for our safety? Such little faith." Vil grumbled. Didn't they apologize to each other?!

"Vil!" I growled.

She giggled and pulled away from my chest and Conri let go of her hand. Then, she rammed into Vilkas. "I hate you." She whined as the tears continued to fall and she held her arms tightly around his waist.

He sighed and rested his arms over her. "Yeah...yeah...yeah." He said, but I looked at his face and what I saw was not someone who was annoyed with her. Nope. That look...that smile...was definitely love. Finally.

Conri cleared his throat after a few minutes and Ayame pulled her head up and smiled at him. Maybe she was scared that he would squeeze her too hard...again. She looked up at Vilkas and the two of them shared a moment before she pulled away and went to hug Conri. He froze for a moment and once he got his senses together, he rested one arm around her shoulder, completely engulfing her in a hug. "We will sacrifice ourselves for you in a heartbeat." He added.

She sighed shakily. "Please don't do that. It was too hard to watch you fight, let alone k-kill yourselves."

"I don't think that's an option, Ayame. Those three will kill or be killed for you." Charlie said with a smirk.

I turned to see them drag the now shifted rogue off the ground and Vince glared at Vilkas. It seems like they have something to chat about. I'll ask about it later. Those two never look that pissed at each other. Out of everyone, Vil was the closest to Vince. Sometimes, those two were more inseparable than Vil was with us. When we were young, some even used to think we were quads versus triplets. I think it was the hair. Charlie nodded to me and threw three pairs of shorts our way, bringing me back to the present. I slipped mine on first, then handed a pair to Vil, then Conri. "You mind?" Conri asked Ayame and she flinched, immediately turning away from all three of us.

"Sorry!" She squeaked before slapping her hands over her face. Did she just realize we were naked? I could see the redness covering her ears from here. That would be a yes. Adorable.

I walked up and wrapped my arms around her, kissing her neck, shoulder and head. "I'm already dressed. No need to hide from me. It's not like you haven't seen it all already." I growled into her ear and she shivered as a subtle moan escaped her lips. "Hey! If you lovebirds are done, I think it's time we headed back to the pack house and throw this one with the other trash. Is the Luna okay?" Vince said.

I straightened up and settled for picking her up in my arms, bridal style, while she snuggled into my chest not at all concerned about the dirt on me. "You'll get dirty." I said to her, not that I was concerned about the contact.

She huffed and clasped her arms around my neck. "I don't care." She whispered.

"Then let's go then." Vil said, brushing past Vince.

Conri and I looked at each other and he shook his head. I didn't even need to mind link him to ask if he knew what was going on. It was obvious he did. "Later." He added, and I reluctantly agreed. With Vilkas, pissing people off really is a fine art.
