Chapter 159:

Alicia did not give him a direct answer.

She pushed him away, turned on her heel, and walked away.

Even with his quick steps and calm face, Caden could see everything from his height, including the way his ears turned red. His true feelings were not hidden at all.

He smiled, smoothed out the wrinkles in his shirt caused by her touch, and left the room.

When Alicia returned to the living room, her heart was still beating strongly. He couldn't calm down, no matter how long he waited.

Something seemed different.

However, he couldn't figure out when the change had started.

Shortly after Caden left, the clothes arrived.

Alicia was surprised.

It wasn't just a dress; It was a whole collection of clothes, bags, jewelry and more. It seemed like every season was included.

As the closet filled with clothes, Alicia called Caden. Why did you suddenly buy me all this?

They are gifts from business partners. Instead of letting them stay in the company warehouse, I thought they would come in handy.

Alicia didn't know what to answer.

Her explanation made sense, but something still seemed strange to her. .

Still, her intentions seemed good.

With that in mind, Alice said: I can't let you spend on everything. I'll take care of the rest.

Caden paused before answering: Make sure we have condoms. It seems like we always run out.

Alicia was speechless again.

It was the weekend and she had a self-defense class scheduled.

Lately there had been a lot of new students, so the studio organized a group meal after class. Alicia thought about it for a while and agreed to sign up.

The coach noticed her brief hesitation and asked her curiously: Do you have plans for tonight?

Alicia looked surprised and quickly shook her head. the head. No, I don't have anything planned.

The coach smiled. I thought you had a date. Don't worry, these encounters are frequent. If you're busy today, you can come next time.

Alicia smiled back, with an elegant air. No, it's just that I have a puppy at home. I'm a little worried, so I'll have to leave soon after dinner.

For some reason, a wave of guilt washed over her after saying this, and she lowered her head, adjusting her clothes.

The coach raised an eyebrow. Do you live alone

Yes.

You are so pretty. Aren't you really dating anyone, the coach asked.

Alicia shook her head. No, I just got divorced and I'm not looking for a partner right now.

The coach was surprised.

He had divorced

That day, winter had officially begun , bringing with it a light rain and a cold air.

As dinner progressed, the atmosphere became livelier. Alicia looked at the time and saw that it was already after nine, but the meeting showed no signs of ending. For some reason, she started thinking about Caden.

He never stayed out after ten.

He should leave earlier

If he were home, he would have told him by now. sent a message.

The absence of messages meant he hadn't returned yet. Alicia shook her head, trying to push the thought away.

Why was she so worried about something so normal?

At ten o'clock, dinner was finally over.

Even though Caden hadn't sent him a message, he decided to go home anyway.

He noticed that he was acting strange.

On his way back, a voice insisted in his mind. He's not home yet. If he was, he'd be calling you non-stop, telling you to come back.

Caden had always been impatient. He approached everything with intensity and determination.

Waiting was not his style.

As there was no message from him, it was clear that he had not returned home yet. Alicia didn't feel the need to rush. However, upon entering the elevator, time seemed to pass quickly.

The elevator seemed unbearably slow today.

Finally, he reached his door and unlocked it with his fingerprint.

When she opened it slightly, only Cade came out to greet her.

Alicia stood still for a few seconds, glancing around the empty living room. It was clear that Caden wasn't home.

He composed himself, crouched down, and gently stroked Cade's head.

You must be hungry. He picked it up and entered. I'm sorry I'm late. Dinner went on longer than expected.

After serving Cade some milk, Alicia realized that her clothes had become damp from the rain.

The cold It worried her, and she didn't want to risk getting sick, so she headed straight to the shower.

When the clock struck ten-thirty, Caden still hadn't sent a message. Restless at home, she picked up her laptop and decided to go out.

It was a holiday and the rain left the streets almost empty.

She went to the library, chose a quiet place, put on her headphones and concentrated on studying.

For more than an hour she was completely absorbed in her work.

Her notes filled the page and she went over them patiently. But upon reviewing, she realized that almost half of her notes were wrong.

Frustration takes over and almost turns into anger. Unable to contain himself, he grabbed his phone and sent Caden a message. I'm going to bed!

As soon as he hit send, he froze.

The message carried more emotion than he intended and felt strangely out of place.

At that moment, Caden had just finished dinner. A customer shook his hand and said, Mr. Ward, I look forward to our collaboration.

Caden smiled pleasantly.

I feel the same way, he said.

As Hank went to get the car, Caden pulled out his phone.

He saw Alicia's angry message, looked at the time, and smiled to himself.

It was late, but he didn't mind. I had already said I would be back late. I couldn't have waited a bit. more

By normal standards, he should have responded: I'll be back soon.

However, he was amused by Alicia's frustration.

So he sent her a message : Go to sleep. I'm not going out tonight. He got no response.

Still, he could easily imagine her angry expression.

A quiet laugh escaped him.

The smile faded almost instantly. .

Still, Hank noticed and clicked his tongue silently. He pretended not to see him and walked over with the umbrella for Caden.

Once they were both in the car, Hank couldn't resist teasing him. You seem very happy, Mr. Ward. I guess today's project went well.

Caden calmly replied: He doesn't like making money.
