Chapter 2:

Alicia came out of her daze as soon as she met the icy gaze of Joshua, her supposed husband.

Her expression She remained unchanged, cold and indifferent as always, as if she were looking at a stranger. The only thing out of place was the love bite on his lips. So intense was the kiss she shared with another person

A wave of disgust washed over her, and it was all she could do not to retch. He squeezed the phone between his fingers and turned it off with a soft sigh. It's no big deal. Without waiting for a response, he began to walk inside.

Joshua frowned and grabbed her wrist. Alicia, what's with that attitude?

He seemed quite unhappy with her this time, which was kind of strange, considering how little he bothered to come home.

Normally , Alicia would have welcomed him with open arms, a flash of joy illuminating her tired features. But today she seemed exhausted, almost empty.

She did not resist being grabbed, but instead looked at him with a calm that disconcerted him.

I have not always been like this Obedient, sensible, making sure the house is in order, that you are comfortable, willing to give your best at work.

A small, bitter smile appeared on her lips. That's not what you like most about me. It makes things easier for you, right? It frees up time for your other... someone special.

Joshua's eyes darkened at the veiled accusation.

Denial hovered on his lips, but he didn't bother. Why would he do it? He let go of her hand and said sharply, "Actually, that's why I'm here." We have to talk.

Alicia rubbed her wrist vigorously, as if trying to erase their contact.

So, you plan to finally go public with her.

The expression Joshua's face instantly twisted, his calm façade cracking. What do you know? You had me harassed by a private investigator or something.

Alicia laughed softly and without humor. Is that necessary? Last night you spared no expense to make her happy. Even a blind man could tell that you're crazy about her.

He stared at her, bewildered by her icy tone.

It was still her voice, it was still Alice, but now there was something different in her. For some reason, he felt inexplicably hurt, as if a thorn was pricking his heart.

Maybe it was the way she looked at him: her eyes, previously warm and full of love towards him, were now completely empty.

There was no anger or pain, just… nothing. It was a stark contrast to the woman who used to look at him as if he were her entire world.

For reasons he couldn't explain, seeing her like that awakened something in him: an unknown dissatisfaction. Annoyed by his own reaction, Joshua decided to hit her back, now with a harsher voice.

She is pregnant. It's a delicate pregnancy, so I bought her something to cheer her up.

Alicia's fists clenched before she could stop them.

Pregnant

Like this that the nights she had spent awake waiting for him to come home, he had been with another woman, working diligently to start a new family

Seeing Alicia shiver slightly, Joshua felt a flash of joy. of satisfaction.

It's not that I don't want "I'll sleep with you," he told her, with a condescending voice. You're as exciting as watching paint dry. No man would want that.

His cruel words cut through Alicia like a serrated blade, but she managed to maintain her composure on the surface.

It wasn't that she avoided intimacy, but that she wasn't she who started it. That made her so undesirable. It was a sin not to be seductive enough

Breathing slowly and steadily, Alicia forced herself to remain calm.

Okay, she answered quietly. So let's get divorced. You can give it whatever title you want.

The word divorce made Joshua's eyelid twitch involuntarily.

He scoffed, his eyes narrowed in suspicion. It's another one of your games.

Convinced that he was right, his voice became colder, more biting. Alicia, for two years you've done all kinds of childish things, begging for my attention. You're not tired yet Because I am.

She paused, letting her disdain sink in. You say you love me very much. You could really walk away from me

Alicia couldn't help the bitter laugh that escaped her.

Loving him I didn't even understand what that meant

When Joshua's business collapsed, leaving him with nothing but debt and broken dreams, it was Alicia who emptied his savings to bail him out of the wreckage.

Out of gratitude, or perhaps out of obligation, he had married her.

< p>During two lengths For years, she had been the dutiful wife, supporting him as he clawed his way back to success.

And what had Alice received in return? She had been discarded as a useless relic, while another woman carried her son.

His love, his loyalty, had become earth under his feet. Continuing to care for that man would be masochism.

With a firm voice, Alicia said: Write up the divorce agreement. I'll accept whatever terms you want. And with that, she turned around and disappeared out the door, leaving Joshua alone in the hallway.

For a moment he followed her with his gaze, but then a cold, mocking smile spread across his lips. .

Well, you can play the martyr. He doubted he could keep this up for long.

Leaving the house, Joshua headed straight to the apartment where his lover, Lilliana Green, was waiting for him.

Well, that was quick, he scoffed. upon hearing that Joshua was getting divorced, raising an eyebrow. It seems she wasn't as tough as you said.

Joshua took her into his arms, squeezing her waist possessively. "She's sneaky," he murmured, suspicion creeping into his voice. I don't know if he really agrees with the divorce or if he's just playing with me.

Lilliana sat on his lap, put her arms around his neck, and her gaze gave off a seductive mischief.

Relax, Joshua, she purred, brushing her lips against his ear. Even if I change my mind, it's too late.

Joshua frowned. What do you mean
