Chapter 276:

Gerry signaled the waiter to bring an extra plate.

He then poured Caden a drink himself, chuckling as he whispered, “Did Alicia kick you out?”

Caden replied without a hint of emotion, “That won’t happen.

Not in a million years.”

“So why aren’t you eating at home?” Gerry asked.

“I just wanted a change of flavor,” Caden replied.

He grabbed a glass of wine and drank it before touching any food.

His empty stomach churned as the alcohol mixed with the acid.

But, strangely, he felt a little better.

Gerry continued to mock, “You want a change of flavour? What a coincidence.

Me too.

Wouldn’t it be a shame if no one got to enjoy the great meal Alice prepared? I think I’ll go so her hard work doesn’t go to waste.”

Caden kept his face expressionless.

“Gerry, are you crazy?”

Gerry couldn't contain himself any longer and slammed his hand on the table, bursting out laughing.

That night, Alicia had plans to have dinner with Monica.

As Alice was about to leave, her assistant knocked on the door and came in, looking uneasy.

“Miss Bennett, there’s an old client here, and I’m not sure how to handle him.”

Hearing this, Alice asked, "Why?"

"He's older and a little intimidating, and this is his first time visiting our gallery."

Alice laughed.

“I’ll see what happens.”

Alicia's assistant, who was carrying some files and a laptop, followed her.

"It's not that older people shouldn't be here.

It's just that...

she has a strong presence, and I'm afraid of saying something wrong and offending her."

Hearing this, Alice thought of older women in high society.

Several names came to mind, but when she saw the old lady in person, none of them seemed to fit.

Ciara's snow-white hair was carefully styled.

She wasn't wearing any fancy accessories, but anyone with a keen eye could tell she was someone of wealth and status.

Alicia stepped forward to greet Ciara.

It was the first time Ciara saw Alicia up close.

Until then, I had only seen her in photos and videos, courtesy of Jasmine.

Although Alicia looked lovely in the photos and videos, in person, she was even more stunning.

“Mrs.

Bennett, I came because of your good reputation.

I would like to buy two paintings,” Ciara said with a warm smile.

“Could you recommend some for me?”

Alice kindly replied, “Ma’am, do you have a favorite artist?”

"No.

I'll stick with whatever you recommend."

Buying paintings was just an excuse for Ciara; her real intention was to win Alicia over on Caden's behalf.

Alicia, who had just opened her gallery, was in desperate need of funds.
