Chapter 580:

Corey recalled Alicia’s swift actions earlier, then shifted his gaze to the oblivious woman before him, who, with a poker face, seemed to care about little beyond the attention of men.

“Yolanda, after all those years learning technology from Dorian, what exactly have you managed to master?” He let out a derisive chuckle.

Yolanda’s eyes flashed with anger.

“Are you questioning me?”

Corey sneered.

“Questioning you? I simply don’t think much of you.”

Yolanda’s gaze shifted to the closed door of the tech room, an unwelcome pang of jealousy stirring inside her.

She once dismissed Alicia as just another pretty face, but that illusion was shattered today.

Alicia had managed to assist Corey in ways she hadn’t anticipated.

To Yolanda, Alicia was like a thorn buried deep, poised to cause an eruption at any second.

A cold chill of realization crept over her.

“Alicia must have trained behind the scenes just to outshine me.”

Corey suddenly thought of something and chuckled.

“Maybe it’s just talent,” he suggested casually.

“Some people, like Dorian, are simply born for this line of work.”

Yolanda was too riled up to catch the bite in his tone.

Corey had other matters to tend to and walked away, leaving Yolanda staring at the closed door.

An hour drifted by, and Alicia, weary and parched, stepped out to grab some water.

Just as she had taken a few sips, faint footsteps echoed behind her.

The steps were slow, measured, and anything but friendly.

Alicia’s instincts kicked in, and her muscles tensed.

As the person approached, she swiftly sidestepped.

Suddenly, hot water sloshed across the table, narrowly missing her.

Alicia froze momentarily, but when she turned and saw Yolanda, her guarded expression eased.

“Oh, it’s you, Miss Moss.” Alicia took another sip with practiced calm.

“Must you really go through all this trouble yourself? I would hate for your delicate bones to crack under the strain.”

Yolanda responded with a scoff.

Caught red-handed, she showed no trace of regret, her face twisted in smug amusement.

“You might have dodged this time, but your luck won’t hold.

Next time, maybe I’ll use sulfuric acid instead.”

Alicia wasn’t rattled by Yolanda’s malicious words.

She had seen this side of her too many times before.
