The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 69
Madison POV
The dinner was exhausting, with all the well wishes and pledges, I was ready for bed, Alpha had organised a room for Anton to sleep in, and Zane and I walked him to the door, and said good night. If he needed anything, we were a few doors down. He entered his room and whistled, before looking back out at us and giving us the thumbs up sign, and a big grin on his face, before closing the door behind him.
Tomorrow was going to be interesting as we would try and take Anton home and put food down the shaft.
Zane spooned in behind me. Neither of us had the energy for intimacy, we were both tired from a long but exciting day.
Of finding a pack living just a few hours away from here, all those years, and Alpha never knew, it was just thrilling. I wanted to enter their home and see what living underground was like.
Anton was a charmer.
Sleep took Zane quickly, I could hear his breathing slowly and his body relax as sleep took him, and a little later after, I managed to clear my mind enough for me to fall into slumber too.
The alarm woke me. It was not my alarm, but Zane’s. He rolled over and grabbed his phone and turned it off.
‘Why did you set the alarm?’ I g*****d, not wanting to wake up yet, ‘five more minutes.’ I m****d and pulled the pillow over my head.
‘Come on, sleepy head, we want to get the gear ready and take Anton home.,’ Zane said as he gave me a quick k**s before getting out of bed.
Grumbling, I climbed out and did my morning business, and dressed in dark clothing, grabbed my little travel bag and followed Zane out the door, and down to the dining hall for breakfast,
Dad and Alpha were already there, along with a few warriors and Mitch and, of course, a tired-looking Anton.
‘Morning, sweetheart.’ Dad greeted me with enthusiasm and stood up and gave me a k**s on the cheek.
‘Morning, dad,’ I replied and gave him a k**s and a quick hug. I grabbed some food and placed it on my plate.
‘Any sign of my twin?’ I asked, not expecting him to be there so early, even if he did not happen to just find his mate.
‘Not yet, though I am sure he will sleep late, he did have a big night.’ He chuckles and I blush at the thought of Grahams night.
‘Twin?’ Anton asked. Confused.
‘Yeah, the guy that found his mate last night, is Madison’s twin brother, and if you ask, he is the older twin.’ Zane answers for me and chuckles.
‘Oh, um Graham?’ he asked, and I was impressed he remembered his name.
‘Yep.’ I said between mouthfuls.
‘He is your twin? You do not look like him.’ He states, baffled.
‘No, he looks like me, Madison, is the image of her mother.’ Dad says with pride as he points to himself, as if to show who Graham looked like.
‘Where is your mother?’ Anton asked innocently.
‘She died at the hands of rogues. When I was six, the group of rogues we are now fighting was led by the man that I believed had something to do with the group that killed her.’ I answered sadly.
‘Oh, I didn’t know, I apologise for making you remember sadness.’ Anton says with hurt in his voice; he was genuinely upset about bringing up the reminder of her death.
‘Don’t worry about it, I understand you had no idea, and it was a very long time ago.’ I said, giving him a small smile trying to show I was okay with his comments.
We ate and talked and I noticed still no sign of the Luna, and I looked at Zane and asked him through the link and he shrugged his shoulders.
After breakfast, I went to the kitchens to see what Mary had managed to put together, and I was pleased with all that she had prepared, and thanked her for all that she prepared.
I found Alpha and Zane and Anton, organising a group of warriors to gather the food and other items we were going to take with us.
After loading the warriors up with all the goodies, we were taking to the vent, Anton would lead us to the vent.
We walked for about two hours, careful to stay quiet. When we reached the area, we lowered ourselves to the ground and waited. Gerome was letting us know when the next patrol would be passing by.
A ‘go,’ came across the mic, and we opened the vent, and with a long rope, lowered Anton down the vent shaft, he pulled the rope to say he was at the bottom and we ducked down again as the next patrol went by.
We slowly lowered items one by one, until the very last item went down. Which seemed to get stuck in the shaft.
‘Stop, patrol about to come out of the cave.’ Gerome said over the mic.
