The Werewolf King’s Mate -
Chapter 12
Lucas'
POV:
anger builds within me.
We reached her room, and I could see it was a run-down room from the exterior. There is only one window, for goddess sake! How will she get enough sunlight and have air circulate in the room?! This is unacceptable! I notice my chest heaving with each breath as We can't let our mate stay here! How will she recover properly?! Kali angrily said.
I am running out of patience! Their Alpha is nothing but a sc*m and disgusting!
This pack asks for so much money every year, but they do not renovate or fix the rooms for their members. I wonder if this only happens because they are omegas or if others also receive the same treatment. I will take this to Silas by tomorrow. For now, I need to find a place for my mate to recuperate and rest well in.
"Cory, where does Lola stay?"
"She lives in the next room." She answered quietly. So it is the same for her and Lola.
"How about the other pack members?"
"Most of the pack members are in the packhouse. The omegas live here." She said embarrassingly.
"Ugh!" I let my frustration out loud. I felt her freeze beside me.
"I-I am sorry. I did not mean to frighten you, sweetheart. I am just frustrated with this setup. How will you get some proper rest right now?"
"I...am OK staying in my room. I-I would actually feel more comfortable staying here than any other place."
"B-But...Alright, give me a few minutes. Let me think this over for a moment." She answered with a nod.
She can't sleep here, that's for sure. It is not part of the option.
Yes, yes, yes! Of course, we will not let our mate stay here! Kali agreed with me.
How about the packhouse? He continued.
No! I will not have her stay with that Alpha of theirs! I can feel something happened between them, and I don't like how he treats the pack's omegas!
I started to pace back and forth, and I could feel her eyes following my every move.
Let her stay with us.
Huh? What was that, Kali? I am dumbfounded.
I said, let her stay with us in our cabin.
I took a sharp intake of breath. I thought about this as well, but hearing it aloud is different. I just told her that we would take this slow and I would not make any drastic moves until she was more comfortable around me. I am not sure about that, Kali.
Why? She is our mate, and it is better to have her near so she can recover faster!
Because...
Because what?
I don't think she will like staying with us. It is a little fast.
Oh, my goddess, Lucas! Let her stay in our cabin! She will be in another room or with Iris and Ellie! Do you think she will stay with us in our room? Ha ha ha! So much for taking it slow.
Well, uh, whatever! Shut up, Kali!
I turned to Cory but was unsure how to discuss this with her. How will she take this? What will she think of the situation? Most especially, how am I even going to tell her? I looked up at her, and she was there, patiently waiting for whatever I was going to say. So, I cleared my throat and said,
"Wouldyouliketostaymeuntilyourecover?" I blurted it out as fast as possible.
"Uhm, what was that, your maj...I mean, Lucas?"
"I asked if you would like to stay in our cabin until you feel better...?" I am unsure, and...hold on! Why am I even nervous? I am the werewolf king, for goddess' sake! And she's my mate!
"You know what, let's just go. You will stay in the cabin for a few days, and I will have some of my company take turns watching over you. Let me mind-link Silas."
"You up, Silas?" I didn't feel a response coming soon. 5 minutes...tick tock...10 minutes... tick tock.
"SILAS! WAKE UP!"
"oh, uhm, uhm, w-what is? L-Lucas?" He is still groggy.
"Yes! I am mind-linking you because I need you to clean up the room beside mine because Cory will stay there until she recovers. We are on our way back to the cabin. Got that?"
After not receiving a response, I was annoyed. I growled and shouted at him through the link, "SILAS! DID YOU HEAR THAT?!"
"Ah yes, your majesty! I will prepare the room. On it!"
I turned to Cory and explained what had happened and that we would go to the cabin for her to rest, that she would stay in the cabin indefinitely, and that she would not do anything. She remained in deep thought as we started walking toward the cabin. After a few minutes, I asked her,
"Are you OK? You might be tired from walking."
"Uh, n-, eek!" I lifted her and carried her princess-style. We were stunned and awkward at how near we were to each other and how our skin touched. I felt the spark when I carried her and heard Kali howling joyfully. I continued walking, and we remained quiet until we reached the cabin. I carefully put her down once we entered the living room.
When we entered the cabin, everyone greeted us. They swarmed around Cory and checked if she was alright. They bombarded her with questions.
"How are you feeling, your majesty?" Elias asked.
"Are you hungry?" Another question from Ellie.
"Do you want to take a shower first?" Iris asked this time.
"Do you want to watch a movie instead?" Tommy asked.
I can see Cory's face. She seemed torn about who to answer first and what she should do. These guys!
"Alright, alright. Do not crowd her! You are bombarding her and making her uncomfortable. How about you making some food while we head to her room, giving her time to relax and unwind?"
"Got it, your majesty!" they all answered simultaneously. They quickly dispersed and went to the kitchen to prepare something.
"Come on, let's go to your room," I called Silas so he could help us.
As soon as we reached the top of the stairs, Silas led us and stopped in front of my room. I looked at him curiously and waited for him to move. But he doesn't budge.
"Ehem." I raised my right eyebrow. He tilted his head and scrunched his face.
"Oh, right. My apologies! Let me open the door for you." I face-palmed because he didn't get it!
"Silas!" I am shooting daggers at him.
"Yes, your majesty?" The guts of this man to act nothing is wrong.
"Was my message clear to you?"
"Hmm, yes, your majesty."
"What did I tell you?"
"That I will prepare your room so your mate can rest and recover properly," he confidently answered.
"My room? Are you sure about that?"
"Uhh, oh! You meant the other room..." His voice was fading when he realized it. I sighed deeply at the outcome of this. I shouldn't have entrusted this to someone who was half-asleep. Since Cory's room was not yet ready, I said to her, "While he prepares and cleans the other room, let us stay at mine first."
This is going to be a long day.
