After being dropped off at the coven in the morning, I wasted no time returning to my hut to gather my belongings once the wolf had left. Before long, they will undoubtedly piece everything together, and I need to meet the Rogue Alpha. I still need them for my plans. So, I must get out of here. I packed everything I brought, especially the potions. I've successfully completed the first step of my plan. My grand schemes involved manipulating Chloe and her companions like mere pawns on a chessboard. With that taken care of, I'm ready to move forward to the next phase. It was fun, after all, especially fooling everyone that I was an older woman.
A young wolf recently visited seeking a witch's assistance removing the dark magic that has enveloped the kingdom's forest. Upon the wolf's arrival, I had prepared beforehand by casting a dark magic spell to conceal my young appearance. When I heard that he needed help, I volunteered. Interestingly, the priestess didn't even consider that I was using dark magic then and didn't even object that i presented myself.
"That's why I need help from one of your witches. Someone knowledgeable about dark magic and can counter it." The wolf said
"Hmm. Let me look for someone who can work with you.
Do you mind waiting for a couple of hours? I will have to check it with them. As you may know, witches and wolves do not get along much. It will be difficult to convince them."
"Yes, I can wait. But, I hope to receive a decision by today."
I wasted no time and intervened in the discussion.
"I will be glad to volunteer."
"But, uh, you just got here..."
I interrupted her before she said anything. "No worries, priestess. I got this. So, when do we leave?"
"Once you're ready, we can..."
"I'm ready."
"Oh, OK." The wolf appeared taken aback by my vigor. The priestess remained silent, leaving the room with an eerie stillness.
With the coven in tow, we embarked on our journey towards the grand palace. The whole ride, I pretended to be asleep. I informed the wolf that, due to my advanced age, I would require some time to regain my energy to eliminate the dark magic that had taken hold in the palace. It was a fast journey, and we arrived at the palace that afternoon. The wolf, Tommy as they call him, led the way to my room for me to rest.
Wow! Everything here is fancy! Even their guests can live a few days of luxury if invited to the kingdom. The luxury we were supposed to have if those wolves did not kill my father!!
Our coven knew us as some of the most prominent witches around. Growing up, my father held the esteemed position of high priest. Although he can come across as strict towards the entire coven, including myself, I know without a doubt that he was a compassionate and caring father. As soon as I grew older, he promised to reveal more about the fascinating world of magic and potions. That was what we were doing when wolves attacked my father. I remember it so vividly like it happened yesterday. It was a peaceful day, bright and sunny. We were deep in the forest.
"Elisha, when practicing magic, it is best to be with nature." He said that connecting with nature can help enhance your abilities and deepen your connection to the mystical realm.
Our usual spot was near the mountain, where a grand waterfall cascaded down with grace and beauty. Everything that a witch requires is present. My father taught me how to feel and connect with the forces in nature, absorb and release them as powerful spells. "You have to breathe in and feel the magic build inside you.
Focus on nature."
"Yes, papa!" I did what he said.
"Alright, very good. I could feel the magic overflowing in you, Elisha. Hold on to that feeling. Then, release!"
After that, I heard a loud whoosh. I did it!
"Did you see that, Papa? I created a splash!"
"You did really well, Elisha! You might even be better than me. I could only make a plop sound when I was your age."
We kept on practicing until late afternoon. When my father noticed it was getting late, we hurriedly walked home.
However, we heard movement behind the trees. My father hid me and cast a protective spell.
"Don't move or make a sound, Elisha." "But, papa...."
"Shhh. Don't worry. I will handle this."
Suddenly, four fierce wolves leaped forth from the dense forest. They quickly circled my father. Looking back on it, I realized he was totally outmatched. It was obviously an unfair fight.
"High Priest Jonathan Bewer. You are under arrest for using dark magic and inflicting damage to the properties and casualties of a pack. The court requests your presence."
"I didn't do anything!"
"In February of this year, you were spotted with a group of witches and rogues near the pack's territory. Your accomplice has coordinated with us; we have proof of your crimes. If you resort to violence right now, we will have no choice but to take you - dead or alive." "Then, you have to take my dead body with you!"
My father threw in spells to fight off the wolves. He used many elements - wind, water, earth, and fire - to drive them off. Little did we know that another wolf would soon appear from above and swiftly take him down. It was a bigger wolf this time. The wolf pinned my father down. His paws were on my father's arms. My father tried to fight him off, but he was too big and strong. I tried to move from the bubble he created for me, but I couldn't. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and pounding on the barrier. "Papa! Papa! Let go of him!"
I don't think they could hear me. I went unnoticed, as they didn't spare a glance my way. Only my father did.
"Papa! Tell them it's not you! I know you couldn't do it!"
My father tried to cast another spell, but the wolf ripped out his arm before he could do so. The forest was suddenly filled with a loud scream that startled the birds from their nests, causing them to take flight in a frenzy. I, uh, I couldn't breathe. I was suffocating. "Leave him alone, you dirty animals! Let him go! Let him go!" Pound. Scream. Pound. Scream. I did it over and over again, hoping to break the barrier. Then, I heard the wolf say, "You chose this life for yourself and your family. Now, you have to bear the consequences."
My father chuckled. Why are you laughing, father?
"I didn't choose this life. This life chose me. I was the chosen one, and I will bring forth punishment on those who deserve it..." He was coughing up blood at that point.
"Did the innocent deserve the thing you called
'punishment'?!" The wolf roared ferociously.
"The apple does not fall far from the tree. They will make the same mistakes as their parents and their ancestors.
They should be banished as well."
The wolf roared at my father, and he bit my father's neck.
Blood spurted out of his throat. Before his life was taken, he looked at me. He looked at me with love, and his eyes soon turned lifeless. The wolves carried my father's body to wherever. And then, I was left alone in the woods.
"Bring him back...Bring him back to me." I whispered to the wind. "Please. Bring my Papa back."
I sobbed until I passed out. I remember waking up to the sound of my name. Mother?
"Elisha! Jonathan! Where are you?"
The whole coven was here. They were looking for us.
However, I couldn't speak. I couldn't scream, 'Mama, I am here!". Nothing came out. Soon, they found me lying on the grass, and I heard my mother cry out loud.
"Elisha! Elisha! Honey, are you OK? Where is your father?" Nothing. Everyone gathered around me. I could hear their pity and their concern. Soon, one of my uncles carried me back to our village. I just stared at the sky, completely still They took me to the infirmary. I wanted to yell and tell them that I was not hurt. It was my father. Look for him and help him! He must still be alive. Then, I sobbed.
"Elisha, please tell me. What's wrong?" My mother's voice was full of concern.
"Papa..."
That's all I can say. I couldn't speak another word for the rest of the night except for Papa. I stayed in bed the following days, only staring at the ceiling. I have trouble sleeping because I see the wolf and my injured father in the woods whenever I close my eyes. It haunted me for days.
Until a message arrived for my mother. I didn't know what the letter said, but my mother cried day and night. So I guessed it was the news of my father's death. They loved each other, my mother and father. They were two pieces molded for each other. So, I understood her pain. What I didn't understand was why she also left me. The night I chose to get up, I found her lifeless body in the bed they shared.
Was the pain too hard to bear? Do they love each other so much that she followed him and left me?
And that night, I became an orphan. Soon, the coven noticed my mother's absence and went to our house to check on her. They found the almost decomposed body of my mother. They asked me what happened, but I couldn't speak again. Soon after, they buried my mother. And no one has talked about my family ever since. A new priest was appointed, and I distanced myself from the coven. I stayed with them until I was old enough to go on my own.
When I left the coven, I enrolled in a public school where wolves, witches, humans, vampires, and other creatures were welcomed. And that's when I met Chloe. She was your typical werewolf b*tch. When I learned about her current situation, that's when my plan started. And so far, everything has worked! Now, I am in the palace, where the most powerful werewolf resides. I control him, and I control all wolves. And what better way than to hurt the most important thing to him? Hendrix was too soft just to cut her hair, and he was a fool to get caught. But I wouldn't be.
Papa, Mama, hold on a little longer. You will be able to rest peacefully soon. I will make sure that they will get what they deserve.
