The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 113
Alissa's POV
It's already been a month since I was discharged from the hospital.
I stayed for like a week after I woke up.
It also turned out that the day I woke up was my birthday.
My 21st birthday.
Isn't that convenient?
During my stay, I was the talk of the whole hospital and multiple news outlets tried to get an interview with me.
I declined of course.
The last thing I wanted was to let my face be spread on the internet.
That will cause even more commotion.
The doctors in the hospital were amazed at how fast I was able to recover after waking up.
They didn't even expect me to live and suddenly, I was all ready to go home.
The kids from preschool came to visit me in the hospital multiple times.
I had to pull out of the preschool, of course.
The principal said I was more than welcome to come back to my job but I had to decline for certain reasons.
I was also able to meet the Sun God a couple of times in my dreams.
He was the one who told me to pull out of the preschool because he had different plans for me.
I haven't really been going out except to go out for a walk with Mildred.
I sold some of the jewelry pieces I got from the Palace so I'd have money for everyday expenses.
Mildred wanted me to stop paying rent since I didn't have a job at the moment but I insisted anyway.
I didn't do anything for the day except hang out with Mildred.
I showered then got dressed into something comfy then went to bed.
I turned my lamp off and went to sleep.
As soon as I did, I found myself in the same place I was in after I died.
I looked around.
"Alissa"
I turned to look at the Sun God as he approached me.
I smiled and bowed my head.
"How are you doing?" he asked.
"I'm doing a lot better. Thank you" I said politely.
The Sun God nodded and smiled.
"That's good to hear" he said.
I pursed my lips.
"I've been meaning to ask what I can do considering I've been resting for a month already. I feel like I should do something" I said. The Sun God chuckled.
"I let you relax for the past month on purpose, Alissa. After all, you came back from dead. Give yourself a break" he said with a slight chuckle.
"But since it seems you are more than ready, I have your next step to this new life of yours waiting for you when you wake up. Whether you decide to do or not to do this next step is still your choice. I'm simply giving you a starting option" he said. I became curious.
What might it be?
The Sun God placed his hand on my head and gently caressed it.
"Thank you" the Sun God said and he stepped forward and kissed my forehead.
Then, I woke up.
I pushed myself up and sat down rubbing my eyes.
I yawned and stretched my arms then I looked to my side and saw a bunch of folders and a box on my nightstand.
My brows furrowed a little as I reached for it.
Did Mildred leave it for me?
I opened the first folder first only to see a bunch of paperwork.
I went through it and scanned it then realized what it was.
It's my papers.
Included inside was paperwork on changing my legal name.
Then, I opened the other folder and scanned the paperwork inside it as well.
This time, there were different university application forms and pamphlets of the university's medicine degree programs.
So for starters, the Sun God want me to change my identity.
Second, he wants me to go to college and pursue medicine.
Okay...
Except I don't think I have the budget for all of those at the moment.
Then, I decided to open the box to see what else was in store for me.
My jaw almost dropped when I saw what was inside.
Inside the box are a few bundles of cash in big bills.
On top was what a notebook and when I opened it, I was even more speechless.
It was a passbook.
The account was under my name and it had a huge amount of money in it.
I'm not talking thousands.
I'm talking about millions of dollars.
I didn't even have this much money when I was in the Palace.
Wow.
I felt overwhelmed so I set the folders and box aside and got off bed.
I went the bathroom and took a long shower then got dressed for the day.
I'll think about it later.
I should cook breakfast first for Mildred and I.
I got out of my bedroom and made my way to the kitchen.
I saw Mildred already serving the breakfast.
"Oh good, you're here now. I was just about to get you" Mildred said.
"Mildred, I was supposed to make breakfast today" I said with a pout.
Mildred chuckled.
"You can make dinner later, dear" she said and I smiled.
"Come on now and sit so we can eat breakfast" she said and I sat down as instructed.
Mildred also sat down and we started eating while chatting.
After that, we prepared for our walk.
We left the house and made our way to the park like our usual routine.
It was the absolute best.
We reached the park and Mildred and I continued chatting.
"Mildred" I said.
"Yes, dear?" she said.
"I'm planning on changing my surname and I uhm...I was thinking" I said as I nervously looked at her.
"I was thinking if I could use yours?" I said.
Mildred was in surprise but then she teared up and smiled.
"I'd like that" she said.
I smiled as I blushed.
Then, Mildred reached for my hand and held it.
"In one condition" she said and I waited for her to tell me what her condition was.
"If you choose to use my husband and I's surname, you get to be our daughter" she said.
I smiled.
"I'd like that" I said and a tear left Mildred's eye and I wiped it away for her.
Mildred smiled.
After that, we talked a little morw then went back to the house.
Mildred and I had tea then we watched a movie together, knitted then painted the rest of the day.
I cooked dinner for us and we had an amazing conversation over dinner.
After that, I took another shower and then got dressed for bed.
I sat on the bed and took the folders from earlier.
I wanted to keep my first name, add a second name and change my surname. I can use my second name for introductions in the future.
I tried thinking of a good name that complimented my first one and at the same time had a deep meaning to it.
I took out the old laptop that Mildred gave me and searched for names.
I was scrolling through the names when one caught my eye.
Soleil.
It means sun.
Hm.
Alissa Soleil Ellis.
It has a certain sound to it.
Surprisingly enough, I like it.
I wonder if Mildred is still awake.
Hmmm.
Maybe tomorrow I can consult it with her but personally, I like it.
Tomorrow, I'll try and research about the schools.
I set the folders aside and finally went to sleep.
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock and turned it off then I got up and stretched in bed.
I got out of bed, quickly showered and got out of my room.
I went to the kitchen, grabbed a few ingredients to make breakfast and poured myself a glass of water then gulped it down.
I cooked eggs, ham then I sliced some cheese and made grilled sandwich.
Then, I made freshly squeezed orange juice.
After that, I knocked on Mildred's door to let her know that breakfast was ready.
After a few minutes, Mildred got out of her room.
"Good morning, Mildred" I greeted her with a smile.
"Good morning, dear" she greeted back.
Mildred sat down and I gave her her breakfast.
"Mildred" I said.
"Yes, dear?" she said.
"I'm planning on changing my name, remember?" I said.
Mildred nodded.
"I wanted to add a second name" I said.
"Okay. I'm listening" she said.
"I researched last night and I came up with something" I said.
Mildred nodded still waiting for me to finish.
I took a deep breath.
"Alissa Soleil Ellis" I said.
"Soleil means sun" I explained.
Mildred smiled.
"It's beautiful. The name suits you" she said.
I smiled excitedly.
Who knew naming yourself was this exciting.
"And Ellis suits you as well" she said and gave me a wink.
We both giggled.
Mildred and I talked more about me officially changing my name and she agreed to come with me.
Instead of our usual walk, Mildred and I prepared to get my name changed today.
I felt it was better to do it as soon as possible.
Mildred and I took her late husband's car.
After I change my name, I'll have to renew all my ideas and change the name for the bank account that was given to me.
I'll have a lot of things to deal with that alone then I'm off to college.
I think I'll choose a university that's closer to where I live now so I don't have to live in a dorm.
I wouldn't want Mildred to be left alone again.
After about an hour we arrived at the location and Mildred and I got off the car and went inside.
Mildred helped me all throughout the process and it was definitely a lot of work.
We finished about an hour after lunch time.
Finally.
"Please let me treat you to lunch" I said to Mildred.
Mildred happily agreed.
We picked out a restaurant and went inside then ordered our food.
"So..." I said.
Mildred smiled.
"I'd like it if you start calling me Mom or Ma " she said.
I smiled.
Ma.
We chat for a little until our food arrived.
We ate and talked as usual then after that, I paid the bill and we made our way back home.
It was such a tiring day.
We arrive at home and just before I could go to my room to rest, I went to Mildred and hugged her.
"Thank you for taking me in" I muttered.
Mildred smiled.
"Thank you for coming into my life, dear" she said.
I smiled.
"Thank you, Ma" I whispered and Mildred looked at me with tears in her eyes.
Then, she held my face.
"Precious girl" she said.
I smiled.
After that, Mildred and I proceeded to our rooms to rest.
I flopped down my bed and I immediately fell asleep.
When I woke up it was almost dark.
I pushed myself up and sat down then grabbed the other folder in ky nightstand.
I browsed the pamphlets and found the closest universities I could find.
Then, I grabbed the laptop and started mt research for every school.
I wanted a school where I could really grow and explore my potentials.
Also, I wanted a university that I could make a difference in.
I wasn't just going to school just because.
I had a mission.
A responsibility that I had to fulfill.
After some research, I picked out my final university and then I proceeded to browse the medical courses the university offered.
Again, I had to carefully choose it so I researched each course and learned as much as I could of its background.
After about another hour, I finally picked my course.
I smiled in satisfaction as I took the university's form and filled it out.
Once I finished, I looked at the form proudly.
This is it.
