From:

Cal

I'm almost at your place. You ready?

I typed in a reply.

To: Cal

Almost. Wait.

I was packing my luggage for the weekend's outreach program trip and I put the last set of clothes I needed inside.

Then, I heard the sound of the doorbell.

Is he already here?

Oh ghad.

He's early.

"Dear, Calum is here!" my mom shouted.

I sighed and made my way to the door.

I opened it and long and behold, there stood Mr. Calum Williams.

"Good morning" he said.

Then, he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

I slightly frowned at him.

"You said 8:00am. It's still 7:15am" I whined.

Calum chuckled.

"I wanted to come here early" he said with a shrug.

I just shook my head at him and opened the door wider to let him in the room.

"I still need to get dressed and check and finalize everything" I said.

"You didn't pack your bags last night?" he said.

"I finished my work at like 2:00am. I couldn't pack 'last night' because I was still at work then. WE were at work then" I said. "Oh yeah" he said.

"I packed my bags like last week so" he said.

I glared at him and he chuckled.

"I'm teasing you" he said.

I just rolled my eyes at him.

Then, Ma peaked inside the room.

"Cal, I made Lisa breakfast. Would you like to join her?" she asked.

"I'd love to, Ma" he said.

Since Calum and I are extremely close and so are our families.

We get invited to family events quite often and Cal and his sister Callie also calls my Ma their Ma.

I on the other hand, call Cal's parents auntie and uncle because I feel it's too much to call them 'Mom' or 'Dad' since that's what they Calum calls them.

Also, they're my seniors and my boss. Even if they wanted me to call them that. How could I really?

"Go out first so I can get dressed" I said and kicked Calum out of my room.

"Okay, fine. It's not like I was going to watch you get dressed anyway" he said ans I smacked him at the back of his head for saying that.

"Ow!" he complained and I chuckled before closing the door to my room.

I grabbed the clothes I was going to change into.

I wore a white button front solid romper with a belt and a pair of white sandals.

I put my hair up in a half ponytail then put some makeup on for a fresh look since I haven't really gotten much sleep.

I wouldn't want to look like a zombie when I meet Cal's mom.

After that, I checked all my belongings then closed my luggage and went outside to have breakfast before I leave.

I went to the dining area and saw Cal there with his food already.

"Sit down, dear" mom said ans I sat in front of Cal and Ma served me my food.

"Thanks, Ma" I said and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"I also packed you some sandwiches for the trip. Don't forget to bring that when we leave later" she said.

I nodded.

The 3 of us ate breakfast together.

It was already a familiar scenario since Cal often came to our house and he often picked me up.

I also join their outreach programs often when I don't have too much on my hand since I can help a lot more people that we usually can't help because of certain reasons. We finished breakfast and Cal and I got my luggage in my room.

Cal carried my luggage and I grabbed my bag.

Then, Cal also took Ma's luggage for the weekend while Ma brought the paper bag with the sandwiches.

We got out of the house and Cal placed our luggage in his car compartment.

I helped Ma inside the car in the back seat.

I helped her with her seat belt and once she was settled in, I sat on the shotgun seat.

Calum finished putting our luggage in the compartment and also got inside the car and wore his seat belt.

He glanced at Ma to make sure she was okay then he glanced at me.

"Are we ready to go, ladies?" he asked.

"Yes, we are" Ma answered.

Cal and I smiled and he proceeded to start the car and drive.

We headed to Callie's house first to drop Ma off.

I didn't want her to be alone at home so I always try to find someone to be with her whenever I needed to live.

I usually leave her with Cal's family since I trust them the most with Ma's care.

After some time, we arrived at Callie's house and she was already waiting for us outside with her kids.

Cal hurried out and opened the door for me and Ma.

I would open it myself but he'll most like sulk later if I do.

Cal was just raised that way so he gived people he cares for special treatment.

"Auntie Soleil!" Callie's kids ran to me and I hugged them both.

"Hi! I misswyou guys" I said they gave me a kiss on both cheeks.

"We missed you too" they said in unison.

Then, they glanced at Ma.

"Grandma Mildred!" they squealed and rushed to Ma and hugged her as well.

Ma smiled happily and hugged the kids.

"No hug for your favorite uncle?" Calum said sulking.

The kids looked at hima and giggled.

Cal pouted.

"Soleil" Callie said and she walked over to me and hugged me.

"Hi, Callie. Thank you for taking care of my mom" I said hugging her.

"No problem. You guys are family. I love having you guys over" she said holding my hand.

"Am I like air? Will anyone please give me even a little bit of attention?" Cal said.

Callie laughed then gave her brother a hug.

"You are so dramatic" Callie said and playfully rolled her eyes at him.

Calum slightly frowned then we laughed.

Callie and I talked a bit and I gave her a note containing little reminders about Ma.

After that, I gave Ma a hug to say goodbye and the kids and Callie as well.

"Take care the both of you" Ma said.

I nodded and gave her a kiss on the cheek before leaving.

Cal opened the door for ne and I got in and wore ny seat belt.

I waved goodbye to everyone as we left.

I looked at the time and it was 10 minutes before the call time.

"I think we're going to be a little late" I said.

"Not when you're with me" he said and sped up.

I chuckled.

"Also, even if we are late, I think mom wouldn't care one bit because her favorite person came" he said.

Favorite person. I smiled.

I remember when Mrs. Williams called me that.

She often refers to me as her favorite person.

Then, when everyone else sulks, she explains that...

Mr. Williams is her favorite husband.

Callie is her favorite daughter.

And Calum is her favorite son.

Of course, they only whine even more when she says that.

Why?

Because Mr. Williams is her only husband. Callie smis her only daughter and Calum is her only son.

They said it didn't make sense.

Then, we would all laugh it out.

I am vety flattered though.

Mrs. Williams is such an amazing woman and her whole family is too.

I'm blessed to have people like them who consider and treat me like family.

We finally arrived at the meet up location and with 2 minutes to spare.

Calum rushed to open the door for me and I got down.

"Thank you" I said and Calum walked to the back to get our luggage.

I took out the sandwich from the back seat where Ma had left them. "Soleil!"

I turned around and saw Mrs. Williams coming to me.

"Auntie" I said with a smile.

She opened her arms for me and I hugged her.

"Finally. My favorite person is here" she said and I smiled.

"It's nice to see you again too, auntie" I said.

Auntie held both my shoulders as she smiled at me.

"Thank you for coming with us yet again" she said.

"It's my pleasure, auntie. I enjoy helping you and other people as much as I can" I said and she smiled at me proudly. "Mom"

Auntie looked at Cal who was carrying both our luggage.

I walked over to him to help him but he didn't let me touch the luggage.

"Hi, sweetie" auntie said and gave Cal a hug.

“Come on, the both of you so we can put your luggage on the bus" she said.

Auntie held my arm as we walked to the team bus.

"I heard that you guys finished your shifts at 2:00am earlier. You guys must still be really tired. I'm sorry" auntie said.

"It's fine, auntie. Calum and I are used to it already" I sais and glanced at Cal.

Calum nodded in agreement.

Auntie smiled.

"Aren't you two so cute. The best couple-I mean team in our hospital" she said proudly.

Cal and I chuckled.

"I mean, we are work husband and wife, aren't we, Soleil?" he teased.

I chuckled but nodded.

"That's great and all but I think I'd prefer it if you guys are legally husband and wife already" auntie said.

I flushed red and Cal bit his lower lip and didn't say anything.

This wasn't a first but Calum and I always get flustered when someone says it.

The thing is, Calum and I really value what we have right now and we don't want to ruin it.

A lot of people say we work great as a team and all that but I think it's obvious that both Calum and I aren't certain how we'd be as a couple.

Calum has had flings here and there during college and I've been flirted with and pursued multiple times all throughout college as well.

I only ever saw a few of Calum's flings during his senior year but I've heard a lot of stories about his flings during college.

When Calum graduated college, he basically just stopped to focus on med school.

I on the other hand was not interested from the very start.

In reality, I'm still married although not legally in the world of humans since werewolves don't register their marriage with the human government.

But I feel like since I broke the bond before I left, I'm pretty much divorced.

But no one knows that except Ma and Cal.

Ma and Cal know that I was once married, cheated on and suffered a miscarriage.

I trust Cal enough to let him know that past of mine.

What I am unable to tell him is what I am. Or what I was before I was Alissa Soleil Ellis.

Only Ma knows what I am.

I let her see me once in my werewolf form.

I had to prepare her for years to let her see me in a different form.

When she saw me, she was in shock and then, she accepted me fully.

Everything that I was and everything that I am now.

She accepted it all.

I know that in time, I would want to tell Calum as well.

I don't know how hell react or if he'll still want to be involved with me.

I trust Cal and I know him like the back of my hand but I'm still afraid that he wouldn't want to be my friend anymore after he finds out.

Cal and I got on the bus after putting the luggage away.

"You two should get some rest first. Later when we get to the location, we'll be dropped off to the hotel to rest and leave our luggage and we'll travel another hour to the outreach location for dinner. We prepared a buffet for the team and the patients" auntie said. Calum and I nodded.

Auntie had to leave to talk to other team members and Calum and I went to the very back of the bus like usual.

Calum let me sit by the window and we sat down beside each other.

He gave me a neck pillow and a blanket.

After a few minutes, I yawned.

"Come on. Sleep" he said and offered me his shoulder.

I laid my head on his shoulder and I closed my eyes to sleep.

Then, I immediately fell asleep.

It's going to be a long day today.

I'll need the energy.
