The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 119
Alissa Soleil's POV
"Soleil" he said softly.
I rubbed my head on Calum then turned to the girl.
I nudged Calum and motioned to the girl.
"What? What do you need to do?" Cal asked.
I motioned to the girl and to my back.
"Should I put her on your back?" he asked confused.
I nodded.
Cal gulped and nodded as he carefully lifted the girl up to my back.
I lowered my body so he could settle her down carefully.
Then, I pointed to my clothes.
"What?" Cal asked.
I pointed again.
"Oh your clothes?" he asked.
I nodded again.
Calum grabbed my clothes and my bag then brought it to me.
I motioned to him and to my back.
"Me?" he said.
I nodded.
Cal gulped again but did as he was told.
He got on top of me and I huffed as a signal before I stood up.
"Sht!" Calum cussed in surprise.
"Sorry" he said and if the situation wasn't so serious, I would laugh.
I huffed again and slightly turned my head.
"Are you going to move?" he asked.
I nodded.
Calum held on to me and the girl.
Once I knew they were good to go, I started moving.
Cal held on even tighter as I sped up.
"Soleil! Sht! Sorry!" he shouted.
I followed the scent of the girl to figure out where she came from.
I'm sure she belonged to a pack.
I just need to find out where it was.
I sped up even more when I started to get the scent of her pack.
It could've been a 30 minute car ride but since I ran in my wolf form, I traveled the distance a lot faster.
I entered their border and as soon as I did, guard wolves started coming after us.
"Soleil!" Calum shouted when he noticed the wolves behind us.
I sped up even more and managed to leave them behind.
Turns out, I still had it in me.
Must be because I still work out.
Atleast when I can.
I saw their gates and I stopped there.
The guards by the gate drew their swords and pointed their guns at me.
"Who are you?" the guard in charge growled at me.
I stared at him and then moved to let them see my side.
They instinctively stepped closer to threaten and warn me.
I couldn't see Calum's face but I'm guessing he looks terrified now.
It's not everyday that you get chased down by wolves and swords and guns get pointed at you.
Then, they saw the girl on my back and I watched their eyes widen in surprise.
"Katie!" the head guard said and rushed to check on the girl on my back.
He then looked at me wide eyed and I huffed at him.
I stared into his eyes hoping he'd read the situation.
"Let them inside" he said and stepped back.
The guards hesitantly opened the gates and we were escorted inside the pack. "Soleil..." Calum said.
I couldn't answer him yet unless he w
could understand my barking and howling.
"What's happening? Where's my daughter?" a man said as he rushed to us.
As soon as I saw him, I knew he was the Alpha.
The Alpha's eyes landed on my back and saw his daughter.
"Katie!" he said and rushed to us.
I stepped back and growled protectively in warning to not get close.
The Alpha's eyes widened at me.
"How dare you growl at me?!" he growled back at me offended.
The head guard stopped him.
"Alpha, Katie needs immediate treatment. She's injured" the guard said.
The Alpha huffed as he glared at me and looked at his daughter in worry.
Finally, they brought me to the Alpha's house and I finally lowered myself down so they could take Katie from my back.
The Alpha immediately took Katie inside and the head guard and other guards watched me.
I made Calum get off then I walked closer to him and lowered myself to the ground.
Then, I shifted back to my human form and Calum immediately hugged me to cover me as he avoided looking at me.
"Ghad, Soleil. Why would you do this?" he said in panic and looked around still trying to hide me.
The head guard looked away and turned his back on us so the others followed him.
Calum kept looking away as well and he gave me my clothes and closed his eyes then I slipped it on.
"The patient has wolf's bane in her system. I temporarily stitched her up to stop the bleeding but she needs further treatment" I said.
The guards turned to look at me again and Calum opened his eyes and met mine.
I could tell he didn't look the happiest but what I did is not a big deal to wolves.
Calum and I stood up and he held my wrist and I held his and intertwined his hand with mine instead.
I don't want him out of my sight while we're in this territory.
Now, that I shifted to my human form, I smell nothing like a werewolf.
If I had come in my human form, they would've never found out that I was a werewolf too.
The guard looked at me with furrowed brows.
"Who are you?" he said.
I held my head high.
"I'm Dr. Soleil Ellis. I'm a general surgeon in W Medical. I was in the area for an outreach program. Right now, I'm here standing before you to help your Alpha's daughter if you let me" I said. "How come I don't smell any werewolf in you now?" he said still suspicious of me.
"That's none of your business. Even if I explain it to you, you wouldn't understand a thing" I said blatantly.
The guard charged at me with his sword and when I felt Cal move to try and shield me, I pulled him back behind me.
I faced the guard head on as his sword was by my throat.
I looked at him straight in the eye.
"Right now, I'm Dr. Soleil Ellis. I'm the one who can save Katie's life. If you wish to know who the wolf was that took her here, then I suggest that you step back because once you find out..." I said and stepped closer with the sword now touching my bare skin. Calum squeezed my hand.
"You might regret threatening me" I said as my eyes glowed.
I saw the head guard gulp as he stepped back.
I might not be a wolf of high rank anymore but I still know how to assert my dominance like one.
I smirked and Calum pulled me back.
"What are you doing?!" he asked angrily.
I just glanced at him and lightly squeezed his hand.
"I'm fine" I told him.
Then, the Alpha burst out the door.
"My daughter needs help" he said with a worried expression.
Then, he looked at me.
"Please. Help my daughter" he said.
I pulled Cal and we passed the guards as we rushed inside the home.
The Alpha led me to a guest room and I saw the girl there.
"Our pack doctor is out of town until tomorrow. No one else can treat her" he said.
I looked at the Alpha.
"I'll need a few things from your infirmary" I said.
I told the Alpha what I needed and he left with his men to get them.
Calum and I checked on the girl.
"Soleil, her vitals arr not good. She's deteriorating fast" he told me.
"It's the wolf's bane in her system. It's poison to werewolves. Like how poisonous a snake's venom is to humans." I explained.
"A little amount of it can cause discomfort and pain. It's pure t*****e but the werewolf body can break it down in time. An excessive amount of it means death" I told him.
"What do we do?" Cal asked.
"We need to get it out of her system" I said.
Calum nodded and we did our preparation.
"Text auntie that we left. That we went somewhere and that they can leave without us. Make up something. We'll be here for some time" I said.
Calum nodded and did just that.
Cal followed my instructions until the Alpha came back with the things I needed.
Then, we started the treatment.
Cal and I worked together while the Alpha and his men watched us do our work.
At some point in the treatment, I noticed one guard approach the Alpha and mind linked him something.
His eyes widened as he looked at his daughter then at me.
"Whatever it is, deal with it. We'll do our best to save your daughter" I said.
He looked at me with soft eyes.
"Thank you" he said.
I nodded and he rushed out leaving the head guard a a few more guards with us
Finally, we finished the treatment and Cal checked the patient's vitals.
"Her vitals are stabilizing" he said.
I sighed in relief.
Then, I glanced at the guard.
"How could this happen to her?" I asked.
The guard looked at me for a moment.
"We don't know. Everyone including Katie were busy preparing from morning to afternoon. Then, she suddenly disappeared. The next thing we know, you guys came with her and she's like this" he said. I sighed.
"We found her out of your territory near human property. Could she have been attacked by a rogue and tried to escape?" I said.
"I don't know. We'll have to conduct an investigation and wait till she wakes up to know what happened" he said with a sigh.
I nodded and went beside Calum.
"Are you okay?" I asked and held his face to calm him.
I'm sure he's not feeling too good about the situation.
Cal closed his eyes and held my hand on his face then leaned his head on my shoulder.
"Can we go to another room to take a breather?" I asked.
The guard thought about it and hesitantly nodded.
We were brought to another guest room and Cal and I went inside and the guard stayed by the door.
I hugged Calum and he hugged me back and buried his face on my neck.
"Since when?" he asked in a whisper.
"Since birth" I said with a slight chuckle.
"Who else knows?" he said.
"Ma" I said.
Then, there was a moment of silence.
"I don't understand anything" he said with a sigh.
"Yeah. It's hard to understand immediately. I'll need to tell you more of the details when we get back" I said.
"Right now, you still have to process what you already know" I said.
Cal slightly chuckled.
We were like that for a while until we decided to go back to the other room to monitor the patient.
When, we were going back, I saw even more guards.
Except these ones did not belong to the pack.
My brows furrowed and then my eyes shifted to the crest they were wearing.
My eyes widened and even before I could react further, the door to the guest room opened and a familiar man went out.
He turned his head in my direction and it was too late for me to look away as our eyes met for a second.
I turned my back on him as my heart thumped inside my chest.
"Your highness" the head guard in front of us acknowledged him.
Oh dear ghad.
What is he doing here?
What kind of coincidence is this?
I heard footsteps coming towards us and I held onto Calum.
"What's wrong?" Calum asked me in a whisper.
I closed my eyes tightly and looked down.
He can't see me.
"Dr. Ellis"
I lifted my head.
"Yes?" I responded.
"Katie is waking up" the Alpha said.
"Okay. We'll be there" I sais and pulled Calum.
I used Cal to get between us and HIM as we made our way to inside the guest room.
I saw Katie waking up and we rushed to her side.
"Katie?" I said.
She opened her eyes and our eyes met.
I gave her a small smile.
"How are you feeling?" I asked her.
"N-not g-good" she said.
I nodded.
"We were able to drain enough wolf's bane in your system to get you out of danger. The wolf's bane left in your body will slowly break down and then you'll feek much better" I told her.
She weakly nodded and I caressed her head.
I turned to the Alpha.
"Please get me some paper and pen. I'll list down some herbs she can take to speed up her healing process" I said.
The Alpha's men gave me the paper and pen and I quickly wrote down the herbs and aftercare needed.
"Dr. Ellis" the Alpha said as I gave him thr paper.
"Yes?" I said.
"Thank you" he said.
I gave the Alpha a small smile.
"You're welcome" I said.
The Alpha also slightly bowed at Calum.
"My men will accompany you out of the borders and drop you off to wherever you need to be" the Alpha said.
"That would be nice, thank you" I said.
I checked on Katie one last time and we were escorted out of the Alpha's house.
I was cautious not to bump into HIM and his men again.
What is he even doing here at this time?
A car was prepared for out in front of the house and I looked around before getting inside.
Then, I saw him again in the 3rd floor of the house inside a room with his men.
My jaw clenched.
13 years.
It's been 13 years since I last saw him.
And up until now, the anger I felt towards him has not subsided.
I haven't forgotten the pain he inflicted on me.
I hoped there will be no next time to this.
I hoped this was the last time I'd get to see his highness, King Luke.
