Chapter 135

Alissa Soleil's POV

"I'll see you later" I said to Lia.

Lia nodded and hugged me.

Then, I walked back to the guest room I was staying at and went inside.

As soon as I did, I saw a big box on the bed.

My brows furrowed a little as I walked up to it.

I didn't sense any danger whatsoever so I opened it.

When I opened it, I saw a champagne colored long dress.

I took it out.

It was a champagne crisscross backless wrap satin long dress and along with it was a champagne satin single vamp lucite wedge sandals. Then, I saw a piece of envelope and I took it as I laid the dress back on the box.

'To Alissa Soleil'

I opened the envelope.

'Let us look at the moon together tonight, shall we? - L'

I slightly chuckled.

What is he even up to.

I looked at the dress once again then I closed the box and set it aside.

I wanted to nap for a bit then take a shower and get ready for the party.

I plopped down on my bed and closed ny eyes so I could nap for the party.

I'll most likely need it.

I napped.

After about an hour, I woke up.

I pushed up ang yawned sleepily.

I looked out the window and the sun was setting.

I walked to the bathroom and quickly took a shower.

After that, I dried myself off, wore a bathrobe and blow dried my hair.

Then, I prepped my skin a bit.

I started to do my makeup for the night.

In the past, I didn't really feel the need to doll up too much.

But now, I really like making myself look very put together.

Maybe because in my profession, I think it's a must that I look and act my best sp my patients will be at ease with me and trust me.

After I was satisfied with my make up, I did my hair into big wavy curls then once I was done, I got out of the bathroom.

I took the dress from the box and wore it then I also wore the shoes I got with it.

Then, I walked to the mirror and looked at myself.

The dress compliment my hair, skin, body and just everything in general about me now.

I wondered who picked it out.

Luke must've asked someone for help.

I turned around still looking at myself.

Then, I heard my phone ring.

It was Ma and she was video calling me.

I already told her about the party earlier so she must want to see how I look so I answered the call.

Ma's face popped up.

"Hi, Ma" I greeted her softly.

"Hi, my sweet darling. You look as gorgeous as ever"

"I'll show you what I'm wearing" I said and put the phone down and I walked back and showed her my whole look. "Oh my"

"Calum, look at how beautiful Soleil is"

Then, Cal suddenly popped in.

What is he doing with Ma?

I was a bit surprised but still did a turn for both of them.

"Dear, you look lovely. My beautiful beautiful girl"

I smiled.

She's such a sweetheart.

I took my phone again and both Cal and Ma were on the frame.

"Where did you get the dress, dear? I don't remember seeing you pack that. It's such a pretty dress"

Ma asked me curiously and I didn't know what to tell her.

Both Ma and Cal waited for me to answer.

I slightly gulped.

Should I just tell them or?

"Uhm...it was provided for me" I said with a shrug.

I could see the look in Cal's face but he didn't say anything.

"You look dashing, my darling"

I smiled again.

"You do. You look beautiful"

Cal was the one to compliment me this time.

"Thank you" I said.

Then, there was a knock on my door.

"Miss Soleil, are you ready for the party?" someone asked from outside my door.

Must be a helper.

"I am" I said then looked at my phone again.

"I should go" I said.

Ma nodded.

"Okay, dear. Enjoy the party"

I nodded and smiled.

"Don't wait up for me me. I miss you both and let's talk in the morning" I said.

Then, waved goodbye and we ended the call.

I took one last look in the mirror then made my way to the door and opened it.

Here I go.

A pair of helper were waiting for me and they guided me through the hallway as we made our way to the balcony overlooking the garden where the party will be held.

I will be presented to everyone as Luke's guest and then I'll introduce my true identity to everyone present.

We reached the entrance of the balcony that was guarded by a pair of guards and there was a royal MC waiting on the side as well.

I looked at the time and it was already time to start the party.

The MC gave me a confirming look to see if I was ready and I nodded.

He made his way out to the balcony.

I could already sense the big number of wolves present tonight in one place.

There was a short greeting for everyone and now, it was time to present me.

"Presenting his highness King Luke's special visitor of the night, Dr. Soleil Ellis" the MC announced.

Then, he stepped aside and the balcony doors opened for me.

I stepped out as everyone looked up at me in awe.

A lot of them seemed confused as well.

The news of a human visitor in the Palace was spread around so facing them now at this time must confuse them.

Right now, I was more werewolf than human.

I slightly bowed my head everyone.

I saw Luke who stood out from the crowd with his family.

He gave me a nod and I took a deep breath.

"Good evening, everyone" I started.

"What a pleasant night for all of us to gather for a wholesome get together" I said.

"I must thank his highness for inviting me to the Palace after...such a long time" I said and glanced at Luke.

Everyone seemed even more confused now.

"Earlier, I was introduced as Dr. Soleil Ellis" I continued.

I took a deep breath as my heart beat inside my chest nervously.

"But let me introduce myself to all of you with a name that would be more..." I paused.

"Familiar" I said.

I held my head high as I looked at the wolves before.

"I am..." I started and paused as I gathered the courage to finish my sentence.

"Alissa Ford-Alaric, his highness' former mate" I finally said it.

I heard the gasps as I gulped nervously.

Everyone except the people who already knew who I actually was looked at me with shocked, terrified, confused expressions and more.

Still, I pushed myself to continue.

I needed to tell my story.

This was part of the reason why I went here in the first place.

So I took another deep breath.

I can do this.

"I am sure a lot of you already know what happened 13 years ago before I left" I started.

"Since then, a lot of things have happened to me and to everyone else around me" I continued.

"In the span of 13 years, I've become a completely different person and have built a life outside of this one. On top of that I...." I paused once more.

"Changed" I continued as everyone looked at me with the same confused and curious look.

"You might have noticed it when some of you saw me since I got here" I said.

"Unlike a normal wolf, I don't have the scent or aura of a wolf. Atleast, not during the morning. And that's because whenever you see me in the morning, I am human" I said. Everyone looked even more confused.

"Tonight as I stand here, I know that you all can sense me as another wolf and tonight I am. It's confusing, isn't it? It's really a lot more complicated and explaining it further will be a lot harder, unfortunately" I said with a sigh. Then, I paused.

"All of you must also be confused as to why I am back so suddenly after 13 years. Specially since almost everyone thought I was dead" I kept talking.

"I didn't go back here to return to my old life whatsoever. I'm not here to stay. I don't deserve to be here in the first place after what I've done" I said and when I glanced at Luke, I could see his jaw clench.

"I knew the consequences of my actions. I knew it then and I know it now" I said.

"I'm not here to go back as if nothing happened. As if I had not left in the first place. I came back because..." I paused and took a deep breath.

"I am deeply sorry for abandoning everyone when I was your Queen 13 years ago. I was inconsiderate and irresponsible. You all truly deserve better. For that, I apologize" I said and I bowed my head low. There was silence and as I bowed my head, a tear escaped my eye.

Then, I stood up properly as everyone looked at me.

I felt ashamed.

Embarrassed.

They deserved better.

A lot better than who I was 13 years ago.

"It wasn't your fault that you were hurt" someone said from the crowd.

I looked for the familiar voice and I saw uncle Rainer.

"You were young, Alissa. You lost your child and you were dealing with a lot more things that no one else knew about" he continued as everyone looked at him now.

"I don't think anyone here should blame you for that. Don't you guys think so too?" he said.

Then, the others suddenly started agreeing until everyone agreed in unison.

I teared up.

Then, uncle Rainer looked at me again.

He smiled a little.

"We're glad you're doing better" he said and I shed tears.

Everyone cheered and I bowed my head again as tears streamed down my face.

Then, I turned around to leave the balcony as I broke into tears.

When I got inside again, I bumped into someone and I saw Luke.

He pulled me to him and hugged me.

I started sobbing as I hugged him back and buried my face in his chest.

I hadn't expected it to go like that.

I expected the worst actually.

But until now, I had people who were so understanding of my situation.

I felt happy and at the same time guilty.

I had turned my back and betrayed the trust that they gave me 13 years ago when I was Queen.

And when I came back, they still treated me so warmly.

These people deserved so much better and that was so clear to me now.

Luke caressed my back until I calmed down.

He didn't say anything. He just held me protectively.

When I've calmed down, I looked up at him and he looked at me with soft eyes.

"Are you feeling better now?" he asked.

I nodded and stepped back a little to give us a little distance.

We were too close to each other.

I wiped my tears away.

Thankfully, I used waterproof makeup. If not, I would have looked like a complete mess by now after all that crying.

I looked at Luke for a moment.

"I meant what I said" I suddenly said.

"I'm not staying" I told him.

His jae clenched and his eyes turned sad.

"I know" he said.

"I'm sorry" I said and Luke nodded.

Then, I walked past him and went to my room for a moment.

I took a moment from myself there.

Then, I had the strength to go to the garden where everyone was.

I didn't expect anything but when everyone saw me, they smiled at me, greeted me and bowed their heads at me in respect.

I was stunned.

I walked over to where my family and friends were and they all gave me an encouraging hug.

That meant a lot.

"You did great" aunt Livi said with a proud smile.

I smiled at that.

The party continued and it was such a lively party.

I didn't see Luke the rest of the night.

When the party ended, everyone went back to their cabins.

Lia and her kids went back earlier than all of us.

I made my way to my room and when I got to my room, I saw Luke there.

He had a wine glass in his hand and he looked like a mess.

"Luke" I said as I walked over to him.

I couldn't see his face because he was crouched down as he sat on the bed.

I kneeled in front of him and he looked at me with tears in his eyes.

"Why can't you just stay?" he said as a tear escaped his eye.

I was taken aback.

"Do you hate me that much?" he said with a hint of pain in his voice.

Seeing him like this broke my heart.

But what was I supposed to do?

Stay?

I couldn't do that.

Not only because of my new life as Soleil Ellis but also because I knew I didn't deserve any of this anymore.

I'd be shameless to come back after what I've done and what I've put everyone through.

"Luke, I don't hate you. Atleast not anymore" I said.

"Then, why? Why do you want to leave so badly?" he said.

I sighed.

"I've done a horrible thing when I left. I don't deserve to come back and have all of this. I don't deserve your people's respect or trust. Most of all, I don't deserve you" I said.

Another tear fell from his eye.

"You deserve someone who will not doubt you. Someone who will trust you with all that they have. I wasn't that person to you before" I told him.

"You can be that person to me now" he said.

I bit my lower lip.

"I'm not sure" I said.

"It's been 13 years. We're practically strangers to each other now" I stated.

"Then, let's get to know each other" he said.

And with that, he leaned in and kissed my lips.

I didn't know what got into me as I closed my eyes and let him kiss me.

Then, one thing led to another.

The next thing I know, we were both naked in my bed.

I shouldn't be doing this.

But I can't seem to stop myself.
