Chapter 149

Alissa Soleil's POV

The doctors finished getting me checked and I was on the clear now.

My family and Luke's family were all present in the room and everyone was relieved to know that I was okay now.

I was in a coma for 3 days after giving birth to River.

3 days.

It didn't even feel that long when I wasn't awake.

"3 days" I muttered.

"I missed 3 days of my son's life" I said with a sigh.

"What's important is you're awake now and you're alive" mom said.

I nodded in agreement.

"You give us the worst scares, Alissa" Lia said.

"Sorry" I said guilty and she sighed.

Ma sat beside me and held my hand.

"How are you feeling?" Ma asked.

"Better" I said with a small smile.

She smiled in relief and I turned to look at Cal.

"Can I see River?" I asked him.

Cal nodded.

"Of course. I'll have someone bring him here now" he said and Cal went up to and held my face then lightly pinched my cheek. "Don't do that ever again" he said.

I chuckled and nodded.

Cal left the room to get River.

Luke sat beside me and held my other hand gently squeezing it.

"Are you sure you're feeling better?" Luke asked me.

I nodded.

Then, I gently squeezed Luke's hand.

"I saw Reeva" I said.

Luke looked shocked.

Everyone looked at me as they all heard what I said.

I glanced at everyone.

"I saw Reeva when I was in a coma" I told them.

"I remember how I coded in the delivery room and after that, I saw nothing but darkness. Then, there was a hint of light" I said. Everyone was listening in now.

"When I went to the light, it slowly turned into something. No, someone" I continued.

"It was Reeva. I don't know how but I just knew it her" I stated.

"Maternal instinct" aunt Livi said with a smile.

I smiled as while.

"She looked beautiful" then I turned to Luke.

"She resembled you a lot" I said.

Luke gulped and he smiled.

"Did she?" he said and I nodded.

"I was able to hug her. Hold her in my arms" I said tearing up with a smile as I remembered the magical scene.

"Then, she told me to wake up. To go back" I said as my voice broke.

"I got to tell her how much I love her. How much we love her. And she said she loved all of us too and she'll always be there for us" I said as my tears fell. Everyone teared up as well.

"She was such a beautiful girl" I told them and I cried.

Luke hugged me and I hugged him back.

After a while, Cal came back with River.

Cal looked around.

"Is everyone okay?" he asked.

Everyone nodded and he looked at me.

"I'll tell you all about it too" I told him.

He chuckled and nodded.

River was in a crib and Luke helped me to sit down.

I looked at him with a smile on my face.

"River looks like you when you were still a baby, sweetie" mom said.

"Really?" I said and mom nodded.

"River is a beautiful baby boy" Ma sais and I nodded in agreement.

"Can I hold him?" I asked.

Cal nodded.

"Of course you can" he said.

Cal carefully took River out of his hospital crib and gently gave him to me.

I held River in my arms and I immediately teared up as I stared at him.

What a beautiful boy he is.

"We practiced skin to skin contact with you and River when you were in a coma. I got consent from your partner and your parents. I hope you won't mind" Cal explained. "We figured that it would be good for not only River but also you. And it was good because you're awake now" Cal said.

I smiled.

"Thank you" I said and I reached my hand to Cal and he reached it.

I gently squeezed his hand and we smiled at each other.

Then, I looked at River and stared at him for a while.

I was so scared that I would never ne able to hold him like this.

It felt surreal.

I was relieved that I was okay.

One day, I'll tell River about his sister, Reeva.

I wished they could have grown up together but I knew it wasn't possible.

"Do you know something interesting about River" Cal suddenly said.

We all looked at me.

"It was a nurse that noticed it and they just told me" he said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"He has a birthmark just below his nape" Cal stated.

"You should look at it" he said.

I carefully held River in a position where we could see below his nape.

Then, I saw.

We all saw it.

It was star shaped birthmark.

I was speechless.

Then, I was immediately reminded of Reeva.

It was like a sign.

She left a little of herself to her brother.

I smiled.

After that, we all talked about what happened for the past 3 days.

Luke's family got here immediately after hearing from Luke.

They didn't take the plane. They used aunt Livi's abilities.

They were all heartbroken when they saw me in a critical condition.

Everyone in the hospital was worried as well.

As I already expected, everyone in the hospital eventually found out that Luke was indeed the father of my child.

A lot of the hospital staff that I was close to didn't really join in on the gossip and they were just worried about me. They were even extra attentive with River which I was very thankful for.

After hours of chatting with myy family, I let my colleagues in the hospital that I was close to to visit.

I let River go back to the nursery so that he doesn't get exposed to too many people and so he can rest as well.

My colleagues went to my room and they all asked me how I was doing and they expressed how worried they were for me.

I assured them that I was feeling a lot better and I'll make a quick recovery.

"Girl, how were you even able to hide your pregnancy for us for that long?" a fellow doctor said.

I couldn't say that it wasn't even that long.

I already prepared myself for this question.

"It was a cryptic pregnancy. I didn't know it immediately as well" I lied.

I could explain cryptic pregnancy to them bit I wouldn't be able to explain werewolf pregnancy.

"Oh that's why" everyone said in unison.

We all chuckled.

"And the baby daddy? Are you guys together together?" a nurse asked.

"And to think we're shipping you and Dr. Williams all this time" another nurse said

"Oh uhm well, about that. It's kinda complicated" I said

"What do you mean complicated?" they asked.

I chuckled awkwardly.

"Uhm well, for starters, he's my ex-husband" I said.

Everyone gasped.

"You got with your ex-husband?" my fellow doctor said.

"I mean, if my ex looked that fine, I wouldn't to. Wouldn't we all?" my other fellow commented.

Surprisingly, everyone agreed.

Then, we all had a laugh about it.

"Are you guys getting back together or?" they asked me teasingly.

I bit my lower lip.

"We're trying to get to know each other again. It's been some time since we got together" I said.

"Oh then this is the perfect opportunity. Having a baby is the perfect way to get yo know your partner" a fellow doctor said.

We all chuckled.

We talked a little bit more about what happened in the hospital for the last 3 days.

It turns out that a lot of things did in fact happen and they expressed how much they missed me even more since I wasn't present and I would've loved the cases that came in the ER.

I chuckled at that.

"I just can't help myself but to bring it up nit there's really something about your child's father, Soleil" a fellow doctor said.

"I agree. He gives off some type of vibe" a nurse agreed.

"What vibe?" I asked curiously.

"I'm getting he's from a prestigious family type of vibe" another nurse commented.

"I'm getting CEO vibes" another fellow doctor said.

"I get a royalty vibe from him" another nurse said.

"Exactly" they all said in unison.

I chuckled awkwardly.

"And definitely Alpha vibes. Did you guys see how he gives off tasks to his like bodyguards?" they kept talking about Luke.

Oh so there were bodyguards here as well.

I haven't gotten out so this is news to me.

"The other guy and the girl give off the same vibe. They're siblings, aren't they?" they asked me.

I nodded ans confirmed.

They talked about it for a while until I shifted their topic to something else.

After that, they had to excuse themselves and let me rest.

We all said goodbye.

After a few minutes, Ma was the only one to come in my room.

"Hi, Ma" I greeted her with a smile.

"Hello, my beautiful daughter" Ma said.

She sat beside me and I kissed her on the cheek.

"Won't you be going home? You need to rest as well" I said worried for her.

"I'm fine, dear. I won't be able to rest anyway knowing you're here" she said.

I sighed.

"Why don't you lay beside me for a while, Ma?" I suggested.

"Oh dear, I'm fine. You should rest" she said.

"Please, Ma? I want to snuggle with you. I've missed you" I said.

Ma chuckled.

Then, we both laid in bed and I snuggled close to her.

"Ma, you and and mom are grandmothers now. How do you feel?" I asked.

"I feel happy, dear. Ecstatic even" shw said.

"I feel like I've achieved everything I want to do with my life. Even if I go up to heaven now, I wouldn't regret anything" she stated.

"Maaa" I said with a pout.

She chuckled.

"I'm just saying, dear. You've let me experience so much with you in the span of 13 years. I missed years of my life isolating myself before we found each other. Ever since then, it's been like a dream living my life with you" she said. I smiled.

Then, we were quiet for a moment.

"I'm not getting any younger, Soleil" Ma said.

I bit my lower lip.

"I might be able to see River grow up. At the same time, I might not" she told me.

I held Ma tighter.

"But I want you to always remember one thing, Soleil" she said.

I looked at her and she looked at me.

"You will always hold a special place in my heart ever since the day we met. We might not be blood related to me but I consider you as my own. You will always be my sweet girl. My angel. My savior. My everything" she said and I teared up. I didn't understand why she was saying this and it made me feel anxious.

"No matter where I am and what I'm doing, always remember and never forget how much I love you. I love you with all that I am, Alissa" she said as tears fell from her eyes.

My own tears fell as I snuggled my head on her chest.

"I know. I love you too. So much. I don't want you to go anywhere. Please" I begged her.

Ma caressed my hair but she didn't answer.

We both fell asleep in that position.

I woke up when Ma got up.

I sleepily looked at her.

"I need to get myself a drink. I'm thirsty" she said and I nodded.

Ma left the room and I looked around to see Luke sleeping on the couch in the corner.

I chuckled.

I waited for Ma to come back but minutes have passed and she already hasn't come back.

I got out of bed and as soon as I did, Luke moved and he woke up.

"Where are you going?" he asked sleepily.

"I'm going to look for Ma. She went out to get a drink and might have gotten lost in the halls" I said

"Stay here. I'll find her" he told me.

I shook my head.

"You don't know any better. I'm the one who works here so I'm familiar with the building" I said.

Luke sighed.

"Okay. Get in the wheelchair atleast. I don't want you to strain yourself" he said.

Luke grabbed a wheelchair for me and we went out of my hospital room to search for Ma.

We were in the hallway when suddenly a code blue came on.

"What's going on on?" Luke asked.

"Code blue. A patient is in a critical condition" I explained.

I saw a nurse who was running to the ER when I was able to catch her attention.

She looked at me with a shocked expression.

"Do you know the patient?" I asked curiously.

The nurse gulped.

"Dr. Ellis..." she said.

"What?" I asked her with furrowed brows.

"Your mom..." she said and as soon as I heard that, I got out of my wheelchair and I ran to the ER.

i followed the nurses going to a room.

Then, I saw her.

From the glass door of the room, I saw how she was in the hospital bed surrounded by hospital personnel while being revived.

"Ma!" I shouted and ran to her only to be pulled back.

"Alissa" Luke said as he held me back.

"Ma!" I screamed as I watched her slip away.

"No! Ma!" I cried.

My heart was beating so fast as I watched how Cal did CPR and she was shocked by a defibrillator multiple times.

That went on for minutes.

It felt like hours.

I kept crying and crying as I shouted for her.

"Dr. Williams!" another doctor shouted.

Then, I watched as Cal was pulled away from Ma.

The other doctor checked on Ma and they shook their head.

"No! We have to keep trying!" Cal shouted as the nurses and other doctors held him back.

"Ma!" I scream cried and I got loose from Luke's hold and I ran to Ma's side.

The other hospital personnel stepped aside.

"No no no no no" I said holding Ma's hand as tears streamed down her face.

This can't be happening.

"Ma, please. Don't leave me. Please" ai begged.

But she didn't wake up.

"Please" I kept begging.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Ellis. Your mother had a heart attack. She coded and we tried to revive her for more than half an hour. She's gone" a doctor said.

I sobbed as I held Ma's hand on my face.

"Time of death: 12:51. I'm sorry, Dr. Ellis" the doctor announced.

I glanced at Cal and he was kneeling and looking down as if all life was drained out of him.
