Chapter 33

Alissa's

POV

I looked around awkwardly as I fidgeted with my hands.

Luke was just across from me and he too did not seem the most comfortable person at the moment.

Even I wanted to go somewhere else but I can't since I really needed to stay here with him.

The wedding date is getting closer and closer with every passing day and we'll need to finalize the plans before the actual wedding day.

I told Luke that I wanted to take part in planning the wedding and that's just what we'll be doing today.

Although majority of the things needed for the wedding were already decided on, I can still state my opinion on some other things.

I think that's good enough.

There was an awkward silence between Luke and I and I'd be crazy if I try to start a conversation with him after everything that has happened. So both Luke and I patiently and awkwardly waited for the wedding planner.

I hope they get here soon

If not, I might disappear to the ground soon.

And as if the gods and goddesses heard me, a helper came to tell us that the wedding planner has arrived and I almost sighed in relief.

I stood up to see and welcome the wedding planner and Luke followed behind me.

The door opened and a woman came in with a man and a woman behind her.

"Your highness" the woman in front said as soon as she saw Luke behind me and she bowed her head and so did her companions. Then, I felt a pull on my shirt and Luke pulled me beside him.

Luke gave them a nod and then their eyes shifted to me.

"Hi. You guys must be the wedding planners" I said with a polite smile.

The woman glanced at Luke with a questioning look.

"This is my mate Alissa Ford" Luke stated.

They all seemed a bit surprised as they looked at me again.

"Milady, we apologize for not recognizing you" the woman apologized.

I smiled at them reassuringly.

"Oh don't worry. I didn't expect you to since it's our first meeting after all" I said kindly.

They smiled at me and I smiled back at them.

"Shall we head over to the living room to talk?" I suggested.

They nodded.

"That would be nice, milady" the woman said.

I nodded and we walked to the living room.

Luke walked beside me without talking much.

We reached the living room and I stepped away from Luke swiftly and sat down on a one seater.

I saw how Luke's brows furrowed but he didn't say anything and just sat across from me on the other one seater chair.

"Would you like something to eat? Something to drink maybe?" I asked.

"That would be lovely, milady" the other woman finally spoke as she smiled politely at me.

I nodded and looked behind me where the helpers were on standby.

They immediately went to get some snacks for the visitors.

"Your highness and milady, your wedding day is just around the corner. May I ask if you have any updates on your wedding gown and suit from your tailor?" the main wedding planner asked.

I glanced at Luke since I didn't know the answer.

"My mate and I's wedding clothing will be here in 2 days" Luke stated.

The wedding planner nodded as she took out something and checked on it.

"I have already set up a catering and other important personnel for the preparation and for the actual wedding day. I will show you the set up draft later and you can tell me whether you want to add or remove something" she stated. I nodded and Luke simply listened on.

The helpers came with food and we stopped for a moment to let the guests eat.

Then, I looked at the time and looked around.

Liana should be here by now.

Where is she?

"Excuse me for a moment. I have to do something. Please enjoy your food" I said and excused myself from there to look for Liana.

Lia said she'd just take a shower and join us and that was about an hour ago and more actually.

I wanted her to be present or more like I needed her to be present for various reasons.

I went upstairs and made my way to her room and knocked on the door.

No one answered at first so I kept knocking.

After some time, the door finally opened and I saw Lia with her disheveled hair.

"Oh" I said seeing her.

"Hey" she greeted weakly.

My brows furrowed.

"Are you okay?" I asked worried as I held her.

Lia shook her head.

"I don't feel too good and I don't know why" she said.

I wrapped my arms around her and guided her to her bed.

"Since when weren't you feeling good?" I asked as I sat her down her bed.

"Just this morning when I woke up" she told me.

"And you didn't tell me?" I said in disbelief.

"I thought it would eventually go away and I tried to take a short nap but when I woke up, I felt even worse" she stated.

I sighed.

I helped her lay down on her bed then I put my hand on her forehead.

"You have a fever" I stated and went to get a first aid kit from Liana's walk in closet.

I came back with the kit and sat beside her.

"Why would I suddenly have a fever?" she said with furrowed brows.

"I don't know, Lia but you should het checked out. I'll tell Luke when I go back downstairs so you just stay put and rest" I told her. "But the wedding planning" she said.

I shook my head as I put a thermometer in her armpit to check her temperature.

"Luke and I will be fine. I'll be fine and hopefully, you will be too" I said and waited to see her temperature.

Once I saw it, I confirmed that Liana had a high fever.

"I'll get someone for you" I said caressing her head.

Liana nodded and I gave her a smile before tucking her in and leaving the room.

I guess I'm on my own.

I sighed and walked back downstairs.

I went back to the living room and sat down as the wedding planner talked about everything about the wedding.

I wasn't very enthusiastic about it but I listened.

Luke commented from time to time and had some things changed.

I just listened.

I didn't have anything to say really.

Why?

Because to me, it's still surreal that I'm getting married.

And to Luke of all people.

"Don't you want to change or add anything?" Luke turned to me.

I looked atvhim for a moment and I shook my head.

"No. Go on ahead and do your thing" I said.

Luke's brows furrowed.

Then, he turned to the wedding planner.

"Can you give us a moment please?" he said.

The wedding planner nodded.

Then, Luke grabbed me by the wrist and he pulled me to a guest room in the ground floor.

"What?" I asked annoyed.

Luke looked at me for a moment.

"You said you wanted to be part of planning the wedding but you don't seem interested at all. If I knew that you didn't want to be part of the planning, I wouldn't have called for the wedding planner and let them plan everything instead of me being the only one participating in planning the wedding" he said annoyed. I bit my lower lip.

"Well, I suddenly don't know what I want okay? Liana is sick and she was supposed to have my back because she knows me and she knows what I want. She's sick and I'm frustrated and upset and I don't know what to do and I don't what I want because well, I've never done this before" I ranted.

Luke just looked at me and sighed.

"If you need time to think about what you want, we can reschedule the wedding planning or you can talk to the wedding planner over the phone and tell her. Earlier, you didn't seem interested at all. Do you know how that makes me feel?" he said.

I huffed in frustration as I teared up.

"Do you want to reschedule for when Lia is better?" he asked.

I looked at him and bit my lower lip then nodded.

Luke sighed but nodded.

"I'll talk to the wedding planner for a bit. You can go back to your room and think about what you want or something" he said.

"Okay" I said in a low tone.

Luke took one last look at me then he left the room.

I sighed and wiped my eyes even before the frustrated tears can come out.

Then, I left the room and instead of going back to my room.

I went to Liana's.

Lia welcomed me to her room and we talked for a bit and I let her rest and took care of her.

When we talked, I was able to figure some of the things that I also wanted for the wedding and when Lia felk asleep, I went back to my room and I wrote them down. This is progress.
